wraith1701 Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Hello, macrossworld admins. For some reason, when I try to access the site, I get a page load error- "Network Timeout The server at macrossworld.com is taking too long to respond. The requested site did not respond to a connection request and the browser has stopped waiting for a reply. * Could the server be experiencing high demand or a temporary outage? Try again later. * Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection. * Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing. * Still having trouble? Consult your network administrator or Internet provider for assistance." But if I go through a proxy server, I can pull up the forum with no problem. What causes this? Quote
David Hingtgen Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 I checked all your past and current IP's, none are on the ban list. Quote
wraith1701 Posted September 24, 2008 Author Posted September 24, 2008 Thanks for checking for me, David; I appreciate it. Any suggestions on how I can fix it? Is the problem with my current ISP? Quote
David Hingtgen Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 ISP problems with MW usually mean you can't access it at all using that ISP, using a proxy on your end wouldn't help AFAIK. But it does in your case, so this is new to me. Quote
Sulendil Ang Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Actually, I also have this same problem a few days ago. My suggestion: wait a few days and see what happened. Sometimes this will solve the problem. Quote
eugimon Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 maybe it's your DNS? Try opendns.com Quote
Sulendil Ang Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 eugimon: Pretty sure the problem is not related to DNS. If he has DNS problem, he wouldn't able to access the internet at all. I suspect it's ISP problem, which unfortunately we couldn't do more from our ends. Quote

After I changed to using openDNS, no more problems. Quote
Sulendil Ang Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 (edited) Well, in my case, it didn't work, hence my view about the DNS issue. But it's worth a try. Don't let my comment and experience discourage you from trying, wraith1701! Edited September 24, 2008 by Sulendil Ang Quote
Vegas Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 same problem here and been dealing with it for months now, cant access macrossworld unless i use a proxyserver at work Quote
David Hingtgen Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Comcast doesn't like MW, that's a well-known issue. Quote
Vegas Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 were not with comcast. i believe we use embarq here at work. Quote
wraith1701 Posted September 28, 2008 Author Posted September 28, 2008 Still can't access the site unless I use a proxy... Quote
VT 1010 Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 It could be your router. I have a similar problem as well (I started a thread about it a while back). I can access the site when I'm connected directly to my cable modem. I have problems, however, when I'm hooked up to my router (Linksys WRT54GS v.7) I only have this problem with Macross World. I've yet to get a new router, so I have to use a web proxy to access MW when I'm at home. Quote
