RedWolf Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 You know I was wondering with some fleets like Macross 1 and Macross 5 having multiple NMC ships how do they name them? There can't be more than one Battle 1 or Battle 5. Then it hit me. In VFX-2 they did not call it Battle 13 but Macross 13. So if a fleet had two NMC they can call it Battle # and Macross #. Another way of naming NMC is presented by Frontier. Instead of calling it by number designation they can call it Battle (Name) like Battle Frontier or Battle Galaxy. Quote

But Battle Frontier is Battle 25, it was shown before in a screen i don't remember which episode. Battle 13 is the one that was destroyed in VF-X2 it seems that the Battle and Macross designation are interchangeable. Quote
theplasticwerks Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 My ideas: -Append letter designations to each additional NMC (ie, Battle 25A, Battle 25B, etc.), or numbers (Battle Fronter II, Battle Frontier III). -Name all NMCs except for the "flag" NMC (which would bear the name of the fleet...so, Battle Frontier accompanied by the UNS Kakizaki, for example). Sumdumgai Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 I was thinking the same as plasticwerks. Macross 5 fleet composed of: NMC - Battle 5 NMC - Vriltwhai NMC - Formo It would make sense, what with the SDF-4 Global. Quote

Sadly, no one wants to get assigned to the Kakizaki as they never serve steak and are forbidden to talk about women at all times. Quote

It had multiple City ships, but they could just as well been attached to Uraga class carriers, with the command ship being the NMC 5. Quote
Morpheus Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Hmm, since there are carriers named after Minmay song (Carrier Silver Moon or Red Moon), one NMC is named "Zero-G-Love" with the artificial gravity turned off all the times Quote

Good point, some of the lineart for Macross 7 depict the support ships being attached to Uraga and I think even Guantanamo class carriers. Quote
Mark Nguyen Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 True, but most seem to think that those ships were "older" type colony ships or smaller ones simply built to have those classes of ships as the dedicated escort. Also, the ONE shot we have of the Macross 5 colony fleet landing on planet Rax shows the ships attached to the City domes in the background to be proportionately just as long as Battle 5, not the relatively stubby Uraga carriers. Then, there's the one shot of the Macross 1 fleet, which more explicitly shows multiple NMCs. Mark Quote
