akt_m Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 The only valk i have is the VF-1 from banpresto. How bad would you guys rate it compared to others??? Just to know... I'm not going to buy any expensive toy anyway. Quote

If you look hard you can get a GREAT deal. Quote

Sumdumgai Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 The banpresto valk is meh. I won't touch any toynami made stuff on general principle (and because they're badly done). I'm curious to see what Bandai will put out with the 1/100 line. Other than that there's no other small/cheap transforming valkyrie toys. Quote
drkstar00 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Well, it's still pretty cool to have, but in terms of goodness, it's pretty much gumball machine quality. A Banpresto is to a real valkyrie toy what, let's say, a used and rusty 90's car is to a new, fully loaded Toyota or something. A lot of difference between the two... Quote
cube Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 ive always loved my banprestos...especially in fighter mode: nice and sleek. Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I like the look of them but remember when you try to touch it limbs may flop down, or limbs might fall off. (you need blutack to put inside to secure) Just leave them in one pose, don't fiddle with them, and admire their simplicity. The thing I like about them is they look skinny in robot mode. I like that skinny appearance (high posability) and wish many hasbro jets from the transformers made their robot modes looked like that. I only own the non-fast packed ones. Quality? lets just say you get what you pay for. But you know, if high quality versions of these little guys were made (without screwing around with the proportions of the shoulders like the toynami ones) I would end up collecting these. But these banpresto valks are the cheapest valks around. (without look bad) Quote
Solscud007 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I wouldnt knock the Toynami 1/100. it is their first legitimate step towards an original product. they arent too shabby and lots of accessories. plus they are cheap. go get one. Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 (edited) http://www.geocities.com/duom/gundam/ultban/ultban.html ^ pics of the banpresto. pic of toynami: Note the massive shoulders? Apart from that I like the toy. I wish they used normal sized ones. Yes buy one. But the thread asks about banpresto. Edited September 19, 2008 by 1/1 LowViz Lurker Quote

True. I'd pick a Toynami 1/100 over a Banpresto any day of the week ! Quote
bigkid24 Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I liked the banprestos at the time. I thought it was the only way that I'd army build but I've since purchased a ton of 1/48s and everything else so now I do feel like I wasted my money. but my banpresto Kakizaki is my one and only custom that I've ever completed! Ginrai Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 The Banpresto are super cheap crap and just kind of fall apart even standing there. Parts just pop off. The Toynami 1/100 is MUCH better. Even if you don't like Toynami, anyone who has handled them both has to admit the Banpresto is nowhere near as good as the Toynami one. Banpresto's Valkyrie suuuucks. Quote
mitch Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 A few years ago I got a Banpresto valk. It looked okay and I liked the way you could change the heads to 1S, 1A or 1J. Then the shoulder broke in an unfixable way after 3 transformations. I now own a Banpresto Gerwalk paperweight. Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 (edited) Of course the toynami shits all over the banpresto in terms of how it all holds together since it's a proper toy. That's why I said if high quality versions of it were made I'd be interested in getting them. For example imagine a VF-0 banpresto. Yes we'll probably be getting them from bandai now, but I wonder how much part swapping there will be? (like the yamato 1/100 that was going to come out but was cancelled?) I hope the part swapping is just small stuff like the landing gear and stuff. I'm a big PT guy. Edited September 20, 2008 by 1/1 LowViz Lurker Quote
Mechafan Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 The are nice and cheep and a good way to build up an army of them. I like the Toynami versions too. Here is a pic of the Banpresto and Toynami verisons. Quote
