EXO Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 First he hangs out in the Good Smiley offices, then with G4 and Olivia Munn... now CNN... Bastid's making the rounds! Quote
Morpheus Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Well, he's quite popular for an otaku web blogger. I've been visiting his blog site since two years ago. So does this mean that Otaku life style is quite good, and can make you famous if its done right, just like Densha Otoko. Quote
Dante74 Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Boy would I like to be in his shoes. Get it? Son of Jimmy Choo? shoes? haha?... Quote
Hiriyu Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Boy would I like to be in his shoes. Get it? Son of Jimmy Choo? shoes? haha?... Hmm. Is there something about yourself that you would like to tell us, Dante? Quote
Dante74 Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Hmm. Is there something about yourself that you would like to tell us, Dante? Hey! Watch it you! [disclaimer]Not that there's anything wrong with that[/disclaimer] Quote
yellowlightman Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I met him very briefly and he seems like a nice enough guy. But his site is kind of terrifying... kudos to him for making a living off of it, though. Quote
wolfx Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Met him two years ago at Wonderfest. Shook his wet sweaty palms. Stormtrooper at a japanese event is quite hard to miss. Quote
Roger Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I like that the caption under his name is simply, "Jimmy Choo's Son." (Around 2:00.) Quote
miriya Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 My son loves Danny Choo. He watches the stormtrooper videos constantly on youtube. He always talks about the nice stormtrooper that dances and doesnt kill people, "Danny Chrue". Quote
Graham Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Danny and Jimmy......who? Graham (who's just jealous, cus' I can't make a living of MW) Quote
Dante74 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Danny and Jimmy......who? Graham (who's just jealous, cus' I can't make a living of MW) Not Who, Choo. Quote
EXO Posted September 18, 2008 Author Posted September 18, 2008 I don't think he makes a living from his blog I don't know how accurate this is being from wikipedia: Since then, he has remained in the Internet industry, serving as Website Manager on the management team at Amazon Japan (Tokyo and Seattle), and as CGM (Consumer Generated Media) Product Manager at Microsoft for Live.com. but it's all about dedication... I think Graham should put on a flight suit and helmet, or better yet... a Minmay dress and dance around HongKong in front of people to spread Macross love around... Quote
doodler7 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Yah...Danny...not sure if he's still at it full time, but he was admin for web for amazon and microsoft for a bit making the big bucks. I found him through searches for perfect grade gundams. He's come a long way from having a simple to full blow website that can be viewed in several languages...and he's really good in making stylish shoes! Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Wow, nice big plug right there for his site. Must be a big increase in traffic after that. Quote
EXO Posted September 18, 2008 Author Posted September 18, 2008 ...well it does say he pay his mortgage with the money generated from the site now that I watched it again... I guess with this and the G4 clip, he can buy another house. Quote
wolfx Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 ...well it does say he pay his mortgage with the money generated from the site now that I watched it again... I guess with this and the G4 clip, he can buy another house. Yes he does make money from his website. He's also very crafty in how he does the whole "blog monetisation" thing with his own created affliate programs and what not. At least he helps the community by teaching them how to "follow in his footsteps" if you will. I've seen the site turn from a fan-blog turn that over a year or so changed into a commercialised blog today. I have to say I preferred the good ol days when it wasn't about money and it was pure passion. Now the posts are highly commercialised and he even blogs about stuff he doesn't really understand (like the seedier stuff about Japan) to gain the traffic. Maybe i'm just jealous. Danny is already a businessman and owns his own web solutions company that goes hand in hand with his website and passion. I guess an otaku can't ask for much more in life, having life, business and pleasure all in the same pot. It will be a matter of time before we see him make a toy company or something. PS: Jimmy Choo being a native of my country really made me LOL and proud cuz he retained the old Penang accent despite being rich, famous and out of Malaysia for yonks. Quote
glane21 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 If he owns a company and also given who his dad is, I am surprised that he still gets out there and dances around with a vision-limiting helmet on. Think about it, he's a walking liability lawsuit with deep pockets. If you see him, bump into him and fall down, claim severe back injury, and sue for the big $$. Quote

reddsun1 Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Not Who, Choo. Gazundheit. LOL, the dancing Stormtrooper vid is funny... Quote
