sucker4meltrans Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 why is my bandai 1/55 VF-1A "chunky monkey" smaller then my 1/60 YF-19 from yamato? shouldn't something that is 1/55 be larger then 1/60 things?
jackdaniels Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 (edited) The Vf-1 is smaller than all other valks. So even though the scale is bigger, the vf-1 is just that much smaller than a vf-19. Edited September 14, 2008 by jackdaniels
lechuck Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 It is because you are comparing two different scales with two Valkyries that do not share the same dimensions. When we scale something, it means for e.g. 1 cm on a model/toy would equate to 55 cm or 60 cm for a real world representation of the object. The calculations (for Battroid) go as follows: Height of YF-19: 15.48 meters = 1548 cm Height of VF-1: 12.68 meters = 1268 cm at 1/60 scale YF-19: 1548 cm / 60 = 25.8 cm VF-1: 1268 cm / 60 ~ 21.13 cm at 1/55 scale YF-19: 1548 cm / 55 ~ 28.145 cm VF-1: 1268 cm / 55 ~ 23.055 cm The ones in bold are what you where comparing. As you can see the VF-1 and YF-19 in the Macross universe have completely different dimension. Essentially the YF-19 is bigger than the VF-1. Hope this helps you out a bit.
