My college library has the comic party manga in their manga section, on volume three there is a hilarious Macross reference. A robot made from milk cartons 😄

Primus1X -- I think the joke is because "Pitch black" in Japanese is "Makkuro" and therefore similar to Macross ("Makurosu"); it's a pun.

EXO -- Cool find! Isn't there a member here with those androids as his avatar? It's more relevant than anyone gave it credit for! :p

In the case of Eureka Seven it's a straight up homage to Macross.

And the LFO (Light Finding Operation, in short, the robot) was also designed by Shoji Kawamori.

Moreover.

You remember those scenes? In this case, it's a homage to Eureka Seven.

Here's a place that's perhaps appropriate for Macross to show up: On the moons of Pluto.

NASA composed a list of names they want to use on the Pluto system's geographical features, put it to a public vote, and accepted write-in candidates as well.

One of the categories for Charon is "fictional vessels", and the sixth entry on the list is Macross, with the note "Favored by 30% of the voters from eastern Asia."

The name isn't applied to any specific geographical feature YET, but with New Horizons' closest approach in six days(And NASA beginning the official encounter today), images that show geography are starting to come in and it'll be on something soon.

So, when is HG going to chime in and claim that their copyright now extends to Pluto and beyond?

We don't have promotional trucks around these parts, but I went to Las Vegas two years ago and remember seeing a much more adult-themed version of the ad truck driving around :)

Saw a VF-19 plastered to a video of a discovery channel documentary on youtube. The subject was the future of air power. Picture was not in the documentary as far as I can tell...
