sharky Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Next thing you know, HG will sue NASA. HG would have you believe they not only have worldwide rights outside of Japan, but Solar system rights. Quote
UN Spacy Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Only weird b/c the moronic fanbase has finally placed Macross in one of their polls. Just keep watching. https://youtu.be/-_cMG_qXguc Quote
sharky Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Is Evangelion considered a mech? Isn't it some sort of cloned angel with armor. I guess what I'm getting at is that it's a living organic being as opposed to a machine. Quote
anime52k8 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Only weird b/c the moronic fanbase has finally placed Macross in one of their polls. Just keep watching. https://youtu.be/-_cMG_qXguc not even gonna watch. top 5 mechs of all time are: VF-1 Valkyrie, RX-78 Gundam, Gunbuster, Mazinger Z and Eva unit 1. Any list that isn't that is wrong. Quote
VF5SS Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I saw this very Macross-y sequence in the episode "The New Warrior: Hellbat" from Transformers Victory. https://twitter.com/VF5SS/status/666748874615332864 Quote
Beltane70 Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I was watching a new show from this season, Myriad Colors Phantom World and came across a character name that could possibly be a homage to Macross. The main character just happens to be named Ichijo Haruhiko and uses the same kanji for the names. Or maybe I'm just over-thinking it. Quote
Nazareno2012 Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Found this while searching for "Grace O'Connor cosplay": http://www.grace-oconnor.com/ Quote
Minmei's Microphone Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I'm working as an English teacher in Kagawa prefecture and I saw this ad laying on the table in the teachers room along with the rest of the newspaper. Looks like a new Macross Frontier pachinko game. Quote
Einherjar Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 (edited) From Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii What the heck, "Alto?" Edited January 30, 2016 by Einherjar Quote
wmkjr Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 (edited) I was cracking up at that part, the one before where she was saying how he likes the Ranka built girls like Momose and the part where he said "your giant tits". That couple is hilarious. Edited January 30, 2016 by wmkjr Quote
Seto Kaiba Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 So, I found a new one... From Chapter 110 of Jitsu wa Watshi wa (in English, Actually, I am...), we have a Macross Frontier reference... Aizawa apparently wants to be Ranka Lee after graduation. Quote
VF5SS Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 This is kind of an oblique reference, but the Tactical Surface Fighter F-14 Tomcats showed up in Schwarzesmarken, and they're presented as being from the actual Jolly Rogers squadron that inspired Roy's Valkyrie. Plus, they fight the BETA with Phoenix missile spam. Macross was cited as one of the main inspirations for Muv-Luv, so I'd count it. Quote
Marzan Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Yup, I thought about that too when I watched Schwarzesmarken. Wasn't too sure if it was the real Jlly Rogers' that were the inspiration though, Quote
McFly!! Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 me too! i guess naming one of the pilots Roy would be taking the nod a step too far? maybe a visual reference would be more tasteful, i.e., Roy's signature blonde hair style? Quote
VF5SS Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 They did show the lead F-14 pilot in the latest episode, and lo and behold, he's a blonde guy :3 Quote
Marzan Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 americantsfpilot.jpg They did show the lead F-14 pilot in the latest episode, and lo and behold, he's a blonde guy :3 To be honest though, 99% of American characters in anime happen to be blonde. From the top of my head, the only 3 American characters I can think of that arent blonde are Dutch from Black Lagoon, Chibodee Crockett from Gundam Fighter G and Kanuka Clancy from Patlabor. Quote

charger69 Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Well... Not exactly Macross but Shoji for sure!! 2016 Kawasaki ZX-11R VS. 2012 Aquarion EVOL Quote
Marzan Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Macross theme salsa version. And it actually works pretty well! http://yackdeculture.tumblr.com/post/140251947284 Quote
grigolosi Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Yup, I thought about that too when I watched Schwarzesmarken. Wasn't too sure if it was the real Jlly Rogers' that were the inspiration though, It is probably a mixture of both. The current holders of the Jolly Roger in the USN are VF-103. here is some footage of them playing with their Super Hornets....The title is WRONG so pay no attention to it.. Quote
VF5SS Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Not strictly Macross, but I'm sure some people here would enjoy seeing Eri Takeda (Milia's voice actor) teaching good health habits to kids. Milia really is the best mom. Quote

Nekko Basara Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Is that video old, or is she seriously 58 years old in it? 'Cuz I thought Mari Iijima was ageless, but... wow. Quote

Duymon Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 (edited) Anyone see the Daily Yomiuri article about a Macross Delta voice actress (Minori Suzuki) that made it to the Chicago Tribune? Surprised me since that's my hometown O_o http://www.chicagotribune.com/sns-wp-japan-actress-562e5b1e-f2a5-11e5-a61f-e9c95c06edca-20160325-story.html Edited March 30, 2016 by Duymon Quote
Marzan Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 That is surprising, I suppose they have some sort of deal those 2 papers (or are part of the same information group). It's a bit weird to have a story about a voice actress participating in a production that will not be accessible to anyone outside Japan (thanks again HG). Quote
