Another silly thing: my iPad case has a slide out gadget to direct the sound toward the user. I thought this was appropriate:

I'm not sure if it has been mentioned here already:

Search in youtube "Game Boy - Did you know Gaming? Vsauce3"

Check the video, it's at the 5:19 time stamp.

I know it's a stretch, but I can't not see this any time I look at it.

I thought that too by seeing the pic, then I read your comment.

I was just watching the most recent episode of the anime "The Rolling Girls" and it had a character by the name of Misa Ichijo.

I saw that too... lots of 80s homage on Rolling Girls.

.

Elsewhere, I was in CeX about two months ago browsing the anime section and I overheard a guy introducing his girlfriend to Macross Plus.

"The uploader has not made this video available in your country"

I can definitely see the Macross reference there :p

My students were designing our Mechanical Engineering department polo shirt for their 28th batch. So they asked if I want a custom logo to put on mine. So I asked them to put the Skull logo on the shoulder. On the other shoulder is the VF-25S logo.

There's a VF-1 back (thruster box and folded up wings) on that spaceship.

I find this more amusing. (look closely at the shrapnel)

I don't get it

Rick Sternbach and a number of the modellers on-staff were/are anime fans, and kept piles of anime kits around for parts (macross, Crusher Joe, etc) in fx models and props. They show up all over the show.

There were 1/170 Valkyrie parts on the 'desktop' model of the Stargazer in Picard's office. When they had to build a larger-scale Stargazer FX model for when the ship finally appeared in the show, they had to get 1/72 versions of the kits for the up-scaled model!
