Gubaba
I don't know why the title and subheading of this thread have been changed. I don't think it was needed. Anyway....... Another great film from the 1980's is the 1985 film The Quiet Earth. SF from New Zealand, need I say more. Its one of those "Last man on earth" stories, but I don't want to give away any more. If you havent seen it, its well worth looking at. Another one from the 80's is the Australian movie "Bliss". Another classic. Both films are quite obscure but they are both outstanding. Taksraven Yes, yes, yes! This Quiet Earth was really, really good. (Although for some reason, I keep mixing it up with The Last Wave...dunno why.) And Bliss...was that the one with Sheryl Lee? If so, it was '90s...
vermillion01
Another to add to my "really bad but really good" list from the '80s is Peter Jackson's "Bad Taste". Eat lead suckas! pure awsomeness! "i'm a Derek!..... Derek's dont run"

The way the thread has been reworded makes it sound like whoever changed it is poking fun of the thread. Maybe the mod who changed it can explain why the felt it was necessary. Warmaker
Awesome flick! "...Conan! What is best in life? " "Conan, what is best in life?" "To crush your enemies, see them driven before, and hear the lamentation of their women." "That is good... that is good!" Prayer to Crom: "Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no time for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, or why we died. All that matters is that two stood against many. That's what's important! Valor pleases you, Crom... so grant me one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then to hell with you!" "Let him contemplate on the Tree of Woe." One of the best 80's film reviews (as well as general film reviews) sites on the web. Not for the faint hearted though, they take no prisoners over there. Agent ONE
In RE: A View to a Kill The only Bond song to reach no.1 on Billboard. BTW Mayday (grace jones) was badass. I love that movie too, but that had Christopher Walken as the bad guy... IMO one of the better bonds. No shame in liking this movie.

eriku
Just watched a gem last night: Quicksilver. Kevin Bacon is a hotshot Wall Street trader, loses everything, suddenly becomes a hotshot bicycle courier, does some bicycle ballet with his girlfriend, inevetably has to choose between bicycle and girl, chooses bicycle, becomes hotshot trader again, has to return to bicycle to rescue chick and have chase/showdown with bad guy, defeats bad guy, gets new girl, roll credits. It's gloriously aweful.
Warmaker
Help yourselves to this: http://www.ruthlessreviews.com/80actionguide.cfm Nice little link of 80's action goodness They even listed Fred Dryer's "Death Before Dishonor" and the various Charles Bronson "Deathwish" flicks for some great large calibre vigilantism! dizman
Aw how did I forget the maybe 5 Deathwish movies, gotta love vigilantes with fancy guns. Oh and Commando also makes it to the guilty pleasures list. Whenever I see that movie on TV I just have to stop and watch it (yes 3/4 of the movie sucks, but the end was a bloodbath of awesomeness) Gotta love the ending dialogue... Commander Guy "Leave anything for us?" Ahnold! "Only Bodies".

Retracting Head Ter Ter
Cherry 2000 was great. Trying to get hold of a copy of it and re-watch. Streets of Fire, I think I liked the music more than the show. And also all the Jackie Chan movies from the 80s. Loved them. (Project A, Armor of God, Wheels on Meals etc) Also another bunch of HK movies but you guys probably wouldn't know what I am talking about (e.g. Chicken and Duck Talk, Security Unlimited, Aces go Places 1)

sharky
If you're going to continue to name Conan you got to include Red Sonja. Some other fantasy flicks some may have forgotten. Legend Willow Does anyone remember the ultimate guilty pleasure Condorman? And, I think I remember SpaceHunter being in 3-D at the theater. While of the 70's era, I remember watching The Black Hole, Silent Running, and Logan's run quite a number of times as a kid in the 80s. Edit: Oh, yeah I forgot Time Bandits. Saw Red Sonja in the cinema, a really funny film with arnie really just playing conan. Legend and Willow were yawn fests for me, don't know why. Condorman was a really interesting vehicle for Michael Crawford, but to self-aware and ironic to be a success at the time. Whats Spacehunter like? The Black Hole is a good film that is nearly great, which was a pity. I saw Silent Running for the first time a few months ago. A very strange SF pic. Logans Run quickly runs out of steam after a great start. And time bandits is simply a great film. A true joy to watch. Taksraven
