RedWolf Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 So in all likelihood, there are no Protodeviln left. That's probably how SK would keep it, since he doesn't like to retread old territory... Well that certainly explains Space Whales. Quote
Gubaba Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 8.) And finally, are there any other Protodeviln out there? No. The show comes out and states that there were only seven (and now there are only three). Quote
kyoufuu Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Well that certainly explains Space Whales. Hey, Basara got to release an album from that experience: "Basara & The Space Whales Rock Your Socks Off" featuring such hits as "Angel Voice", "Kujira! Kujira! Kujira!", and the much lauded "We're Just Space Whales, But We Can Harmonize Really Well." Needless to say, it was not his best selling album. Besides, there's nothing better than taking classic novel and putting them into a far futuristic setting. Coming soon: Macross DoublePlus In the year 2084, the New U.N. Spacey government has control over the entire Earth populace. Wishing to eradicate free thought and emotion, they have eliminated music from culture. Watched over by the enigmatic "Nii San," the people of earth are powerless to stand in the way of this oppressive government. However, when a citizen comes across an album by the long forgotten band Fire Bomber, he will attempt to reignite the culture that made Earth the great planet that it once was. Brilliant! Quote

kyoufuu Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Hmm, sounds like Gurren Macross to me, just replace the spiral power with music power. Future of Macross will lies in Macross F the movie Well, it was meant to be an attempt by Kawamori to remake the novel 1984 into a Macross story, much as he attempted with Moby Dick and Dynamite 7. That's why it would be called DoublePlus. But yes, I am inclined to agree that at this point, the future does lie in a continuation of Frontier. However, we should all be careful not to get our hopes up too much, because as we know, the follow up stories aren't always what we want them to be. Flashback 2012 was a music video with only a few minutes of new footage. Dynamite 7 was...well, it was what it was. As such, I remain cautiously optimistic. Quote
DeeBot Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I predict the Frontier movie will resolve the relationship... between Luca and Nanase. Quote
Twoducks Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I predict the Frontier movie will resolve the relationship... between Luca and Nanase. That would make a pretty short film: "Hands of perv!!" *slap on the face* THE END Quote
Shun Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Much like all Gundam series were mostly limited to the Earth Sphere (at most the solar system), the Macross stories had always been limited to within our own galaxy. So far the immigration fleets are only covering a small arc of our galaxy. However, in the final ep of Frontier, the part about Vajra mating opens up this series to other galaxies, so the playground is much much larger now... infinitely larger... Quote
Twoducks Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Silverhawks came WAY before Macross 7 or anything like it. Yes, this was the original guitar-playing ship controller. I had forgotten about that series. I loved it as a kid. So, could Cowboy be Basara's father? Quote
Funkenstein Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Now that both Ranka and Sheryl have teh viruz, I can expect that a human-zentraedi-vajra hybrid species will show up. What would it be called? Ventrazi? We still have the Zentraedi-Cyborg Alliance to worry about, as only Grace got iced. Now that the Fold Quartz is available to everyone else, Im guessing deep range colony fleets will no longer be necessary, as only a scout flotilla is needed to find planets. My guess, next series will follow a small armada of armed ships, with an emphasis on military personnel, and discovering some sort of warped space that is agitated by the Fold Quartz drives. They end up being catapulted to a far off region in space, for which their star charts are useless, thus any effort to get back home is in vain. Add in some time travel etc, and It'll be a Macross version of Star Trek Voyager. Quote

Well there are any number of issues that could throw a monkey-wrench into the idea of fold quartz becoming a common material for fold drives. Anything from it being harmful to the Vajra to take the quartz and thus not being something that can be gotten easily if at all, too the Vajra simply not wanting to give it up, too some other "X" factor that makes it useless as a practical and viable fold drive component intended for repeated or regular use in human/zentran ships. As for Macross: Voyager...yeah, lets not and say we didn't Quote
Sumdumgai Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Nanase wakes up and tells Lucca "I had this horrible nightmare I kissed you. My love is only for Ranka." and Lucca's heart shatters and he becomes the big bad guy. Quote
Funkenstein Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 (edited) You mean like Ranka? Yah, but now that theres another one (Sheryl) , I expect teh babeyz to be considered a new hybrid species. The addition of the fold probiotic virus adds a large change in physiology to who ever is infected by it. Mainly, throwing voices on an intergalactic scale. Super Dimension Puppet Show Macross? DeeBot Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 The Frontier movie will be a longer rehash of Flashback 2012: It'll open with Alto and Sheryl's wedding, several years after the events of Macross Frontier. Then for the remainder of the movie, a somewhat disappointed Ranka and her pet Vajra, Ai-kun (and maybe Brera) will go on a quest to find the truth about the Vajra planet. Hilarity ensues. Quote
