RedWolf Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 (edited) I want: - Macross VFX-2: The Animation - Gundam StarGazer like side stories: Band of Destroid during SW1 - Gundam Igloo like side stories: History of VF development - I want Misa back While were at it a VFX movie too. Finally giving the guy a name not to mention Inoue Kikuko as Liatris. (Hopes and Dreams not Despairs and Nightmares.) Also the return of Miho Miho. Perhaps adding the 3D characters Carno and Rolin to VFX-2. Mecha , Romance, Girls and Song these are the formulaic elements of Macross. As for the SW1 Band of Destroids the young versions of the retired Monster operators of Macross 7 as background characters. Edited September 10, 2008 by RedWolf Quote
dreamweaver13 Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Since Macross frontier is, so far, the closest thing to theme, spirit, plot and traingle to the original SDFM series, i'm guessing the next one would be a bit different. much like Macross Plus. just so the fans won't get "interstellar love story" fatigue. Twice already with triangles involving guys it becomes Bros before Hoes. Macross Plus was about mending Isamu and Guld's friendship rather than getting the girl. Macross 7 was about Gamlin getting that while he is a fighter pilot, Basara is a singer whose purpose is to sing. As Sheryl said they both have their jobs. Quote
Javabean Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Yes. How about we finally find out what happened to them? It doesn't have to star any of the original cast. It could be just a lone VF-4 found near the center of the milky way, with a dead skeleton pilot, holding a grainy video or some kind of transmission, and then NUNs can send a new fleet to find out what did happened to hte Megaroad. Or maybe we can have astory on what happened to Isamu or Myung. i personally want to know what has happened to M7, and Basara, Gamlin, Mylene, and Sivil, and the rest of the Protodevlin. I think its a good idea to go back to what happened to Megaroad & everyone like Misa & Hikaru. Did they settle somewhere in a galaxy far far away. Did they hv a descendents or something like that. miriya Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Yeah, the flashback megaroad stuff would be cool. Quote
d3v Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Macross 7 was about Gamlin getting that while he is a fighter pilot, Basara is a singer whose purpose is to sing. There are some who would swear that the true triangle in M7 was Guitar -> Basara <- Everybody else. As for the topic on hand, at the very least I'm hoping for an OVA continuation in the spirit of Dynamite 7 (a slightly less epic story with the same characters, minus the space whales), or maybe a prequel of sorts set aboard the SDF Global/117th fleet. RedWolf Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Can't we just continue Frontier? IMHO Big West and Kawamori has got a good thing going here. And continue the suffering of shippers? Given previous formulas in continuation OVA's Macross Zero while a prequel did not focus on Roy Focker but rather as a supporting character. In Macross Dynamite 7 they split the story between three characters. Basara, Laiza and Mylene. In fact I got the impression Basara was just a supporting role to little Elma. Macross Dynamite 7 wasn't much about the characters of Macross 7 but about the Zolan characters. An interesting concept that there is a third race participating in the alliance of humans and Zentradi. My guess is that Dynamite 7 was a test run for a female pilot protagonist. The botched Macross 3D seems to confirm it. Quote
VF-25 Messiah Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Nah, don't want it to go on for too long, as good as it is....... Taksraven I want it to go on for as long as it was planned. If they're unveiling a second season tomorrow, that was planned all along but kept in the dark, I'll say "Rock on! Keep up the good work." If the ending is in 3 episodes like it seems to be, I'll say "Rock on! Make it epic!" Quote

Oihan Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 (edited) Then it would become non-canon like Macross II. Just because Kawamori wasn't involved doesn't make Macross II non-canon (even though it is non-canon). Edit: I have no idea where Macross will go from here. After Zero I had an idea that Frontier was going to involve elements from Zero...but now? I guess we'll have to wait for the ending. I'd definitely would love to see more Macross though. Duke Togo Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 You know, Frontier isn't over yet... Have faith... How many times does Kawamori have to say he's not going there again? I mean, really, give it up. Besides, Hikaru's seiyuu is dead. Quote

Just because the voice actor is dead, doesn't mean the character is dead. I'm sure they could and would find somebody to replace him. As for Kawamori, he's the man in charge right now, but don't ever give up hope!!!! Quote
Kelsain Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 And right you are. =( You know...now that I think about it. I'd love it if they expanded on the Macross II universe! OR: Didn't it come up sometime that, like DYRL, Mac2 was kind of an in-universe movie about a fictional future? Kind of like 2001, which in reality has come and gone w/ no moon bases or monoliths. They could do a sequel to Macross 2, starring Miranda Marin and a special cameo by Ranzo Saotome! In seriousness, I'll love it wherever it goes. My only concerns about Macross series' have been the wrap up. SDFM & M+ oth wrapped up pretty well (even if M+ was a little ambiguous). M7's pacing was off, with like 20 episodes of padding and a wrap up in the last 3. Zero was rushed in chapter 5 and Frontier has me a little worried. I thought Dynamite ended pretty well, actually. I should be used to it by now, that Macross series' are a little anticlimactic, but I keep hoping. Quote

VFTF1 Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I think the best possible thing would be to re-visit our friends at Fire Bomber! Basara would be side-tracked to the role of a Macross version of Ozzy Ozborne - we wouldn't see much of him except for on TV. The main character would be somebody new - albeit Bassara like...maybe a female lead this time? I think that it could be done WITH a re-visit to the Megaroad and the original crew... Like - the Quest for Bassara's Mom - Minmey? Something like that. As long as it has lots of flowers, rainbows and great music. Either that or a special series of Macross: Ranka's Tales. Pete Quote
RichterX Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Macross is going to do what has done the last 25 years, bring a new serie or ova or movie for its next anniversary setting it between 10-30 years forward from the last installment with new characters and mecha. Quote
Tinderfitles Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 (edited) Well if using past indicators is any justification for future plot development, then should frontier end with galaxy vs frontier, then should it be a logical conclusion to assume that the next series would show some serious fractions within the NUNS. It might be nice you have several factions fighting for power, and the scale tipper would be who can find the Supervision Army or remnants of Proto-culture. Gubaba Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Then, you have just solved the mystery of why Kawamori does not want to do a new story involving Hikaru, Misa, and Minmay! Well...Kawamori decided that BEFORE Hase died, but his death probably cemented it. I also doubt that Mari Iijima would be terribly interested in doing a new Macross show...and do you really want a fake Minmay as well as a fake Hikaru...? Quote

Pete Minmay and Hikaru as his parents were a tabloid joke. No the original trio would not be the main focus. They could be like Mao a character reference in Frontier. As I said before a story about Miku Ichigyo and the story of her hidden past. They did not find the Magaroad 1 but it's Zentradi escort. Nobody is alive except Miku in suspended animation. Heck they can use the loose premise of Macross 3D the military wanting to catch and use a girl for an unknown reason. Quote

thankheaven Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Doesn't need to be about the Megaroad but a series set sometime between Flashback 2012 and Macross Plus would be nice. With the VF-4's as the main fighters and introducing some new VF as the hero valk. Maybe show the VF-4 getting replaced by the VF-11 as the show moves on. I'd actually like it to start on earth maybe about some students/pilots at the academy, have them graduate and posted at different places in the galaxy. One could be assigned to test a new prototype VF, another to deal with renegade zentrans and another aboard a colony or something. The show could switch back and forth between the characters and ofcourse they would all come together again for the final episodes and battles. They don't need to show Misa and Hikaru but they could mention the Megaroad at one point. Quote
Final Vegeta Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I am always hoping for a Macross with classical music and opera singer I think the only theme left untouched by now is meeting the Protoculture itself. We've got the Supervision Army covered, the human evolution intervention covered, the fold dimension covered... it's time to have something that actually moves things forward. FV Quote

Didn't Mari Iijima do the voice in the ADV remastered and dubbed release of Macross? I remember watching the interview on YouTube. It seems at one time she did hate being type-cast into Minmay, but has since come to accept it. I'll bet she would do it if they asked her. I mean, look at how Frontier is doing and how popular the songs are becoming. I think it would really boost her career to a new level. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgO3I7uVn4I I tell you what, she still looks cute after so many years! Quote

bullet101 Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I would like to see something like Macross Plus, not necessarily a test pilot thing but something focused on the Valkyries. I love Macross Frontier but i need some Valk porn. Quote
