Okay remembering back in the non-canon Macross II the Marduk used emulators to motivate and control Zentradi.

Now watching back Macoss 7 episode 19 the Zentradi become agitated and aggressive when around Sivil.

When Exsedol started suspecting their enemy are Protodevlin he was scared. Is this fear ingrained in his genes?

More likely he knows what he is facing and how hopeless it is.

Besides being the ultimate bio weapons the Evil series was originally intended to motivate the aggressiveness of their Zentradi troops. Imagine billions of Spartans in berserker rage. That was the plan of the Protoculture faction that created the Evil series.

This brings to question the nature of the Supervision Army. Are they just brainwashed zombies or a berserker force?

If they are brainwashed soldiers imagine a battle with overtly berserk Zentradi as their enemy if they had a Protodevlin leading.

But were the Zentradi reacting to the EVIL Series bodies, or to the Protodeviln housed in them...?

I skimmed the Mylene Beat comic recently, and while I understood the main thrust of the story, a lot of the technical details eluded me (so far...I didn't bother to pull out my dictionary, as I was really just checking to see if it's worth the trouble to translate...and it is), but it seemed like Colonel Barton and Sazapi (Mylene's would-be producer/lesbian rapist) were growing an EVIL series creature on board the Macross 7...so maybe there are some answers contained in the story (doesn't really seem like it, though...).

Sivil had an effect on zentraedi, but it seemed to be a proximity effect and not all zentraedi were affected the same way.

I don't blame Exedol for being scared into the brown trousers state, considering that just one protodevlin wiped out an ENTIRE FLEET of zentraedi on its own. Yeah, I'd be rather unsure of the Macross 7 fleet being able to take on something like that and being on the flagship when it happens.

When Gigil was around City 7 for a long time he wasn't making the citizens go berserk.

When Gavil possesed Gamlin he had his Evil series body with him. It had an effect on Millia.

Likely there is something with the Evil series bodies that increases the aggressiveness of Zentrandi.

Hmmm...good point. :)

Let me think about that for a bit...

I'll have to watch the series again, but I only ever got the impression that the Zentradi were frightened of the Protodevlin, not that they were being made more aggressive.

It's a neat concept, though. It's been a while since I last watched Macross 7. Maybe after Frontier is through I'll go back and do that.

When Sivil was walking through the city, they were definitely getting more aggressive...crashing their cars into each other, trying to take Millia hostage...

Exsedol, however, was simply terrified. But then, he was the only one who actually remembered what the Protodeviln were.

RedWolf's idea is interesting, but I'm not sure there's enough information given in the show to either back it up or refute it.

That's true. I'd forgotten about that, but now that you mention the scene I remember it.

Mylene wasn't affected by Gavil, she's a half blood Zentradi either that or because she was the runt of the litter.

The police chief said the incidents involved those of Zentradi descent. He didn't indicate which among those are half bloods.

Given what we know that the Brain Direct Interface flaws had something to do with Guld's Zentradi heritage perhaps that is a clue.

Therefore with Mylene in mind Evil Series affect original clone generation Zentradi, pure blood descendant Zentradi, and perhaps all Zentradi males pure and half blood. Half blood females being the exception.

That or Mylene has a genetic defect as she is the runt of the siblings.

Well...I wouldn't call her the runt; they weren't born at the same time, after all. :p

She's just the youngest (that we know of... ).

But I stand by my former statement...unless Mylene Beat sheds some light on this, there just isn't enough information to do much more than guess at to what was programmed into the EVIL Series bodies.

Although I got the impression during the show that the reaction to Sivil was due to some kind of hardwired Zentradi racial memory...kind of like the way dogs still turn in circles to tamp down the grass before lying down, even dogs that have lived in the house their whole lives. I think that was mentioned in the show, but I honestly can't remember if it was or not.

Dammit, where's Keith when we need him...?
