Gubaba Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 (edited) Maybe the Super Pack is mounted to a Macronized Zentraedi version of an EX-Gear? Maybe these are the Ex-Gears used by KK's fellow Macronized students. I don't buy it. the point of an EX-Gear is to connect with the Valkyrie's control system, and to provide something of an escape mechanism. What would the Zentradi EX-Gears mesh with...? Some kind of macronized Valkyrie...? (Actually...that would be kind of awesome, wouldn't it?) Edited August 29, 2008 by Gubaba Quote
RichterX Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Gubaba, even if she did. If they can make android hybrids like Brera and Grace, they can give her a bionic eye, of which you can't tell the difference with the real one. and then have her wear a monocle over the real eye as she would have cybernetic enhanced vision in one and bad vision in the other. wolfx Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 EDIT: I do wonder, though...that bandage has me a little worried. Do you think she lost an eye? Probably a GEASS. Maybe the Super Pack is mounted to a Macronized Zentraedi version of an EX-Gear? Maybe these are the Ex-Gears used by KK's fellow Macronized students. Hmmm...now there's a thought. Quote

Perhaps the "XL-GEAR" (xtra large...duh) might also serve as a kind of "adapter" for other valks and destroids to use the addon parts for VF-25 valkyries. Imagine a Zentran with an ELINT package. Sumdumgai Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Eye-patch Nanase. She'll get a fake non-cyborg eyeball that will pop out of the socket when she gets too stressed out or thinks of Ranka too much. As for Klan Klan flying with the super parts, maybe there are some manual controls somewhere for emergency use in case zentraedi need to strap them on in the lack of anything else? The VF-171 on first sight, I thought had a strike pack. Looking at it paused, that's an interesting way to mount a gunpod. Even in this episode we don't see Lucca kill anything. We see him do some yelling, some screaming "how dare you do that to Nanase-san" while he gets a close-up. But we don't see him kill anything. I bet if he actually was shooting at the swarms of Vajra, it was epic fail and not a single bullet hit them. Lucca is fail. Quote
MisaForever Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Maybe Nanase will end up like Ryomou from Ikkitousen, wearing a nice eyepatch. *GASP* I'm speculating!!!! O_O Quote

quen Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 TV-size is probably the full thing. It went on for a good four minutes. A very good four minutes. Gah, just realized that you're right. Just checked, and indeed the beginning of the song is mixed in with speech/sound effects, so a full rip off the episode isn't really possible. Gotta wait for the CD, most likely. Really enjoying this Macross' music, what a treat Definitely planning on buying both albums when I get a chance BTW, this is what, like Ending #10 or 11? Quote
Morpheus Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Counting down for spoiler lift . So Frontier citizen knows that their beloved President is dead, and no one wonder about his daughter...an EX miss Macross candidate. I bet Ozma and Cathy are getting kinky somewhere in those ruins.... So the ending song is set according to the episode title now. I'm waiting for episode with the title Kyoudai Sen or Ninjin loves you Quote
azrael Posted August 29, 2008 Author Posted August 29, 2008 12 hours up. No more spoiler tags. But keep doing it if you to be Mod Roy's foot stool for eternity. His last one is all bones. My thoughts: -The action sequences were bleh. Half action, half character drama. I think it would have better without the action half, but we gotta finish the mess from last week. The character drama was good but the action was bleh. Neutral it is. -Leon is inching up the bastard list. Ozma and Cathy gotta lay real low now. He'd probably kill them if they got caught. I sure Leon would LOVE to know to know where they are... Well, that makes Alto Skull-1 for now. -Luca, I know your girl is in the hospital, you lost one of your best friends, and Leon has you by the balls, but at least try not to go all emo on me. As a dark knight said (in more or less words), the 4 of you acted. You all are responsible for the consequences. Don't think you were the only one who lost something. -Ranka did what she thought was right, not singing, returning Ai-Kun back home. Alto will figure it out, I hope. -So Alto, Ranka (after figuring it out 3 episodes ago) finally said it. She liked you (yeh past tense). Pity that she ran off. Planning on coming back either (yeh, sure...). What say you? [voice=Stewie Griffin]You gonna go after her? Tell her how you feel about her? Tell her you love her? Slap down her cyborg bodyguard? Gonna reject her and run to Sheryl?... [/voice] -I guess this is Brera's one good deed before Grace grabs his balls again and ends up either being skeward by a Vajra, being Alto's slapping b*tch, taking Grace down to hell with him, or living (probably not). -"Ao no Ether"... Guess I should take off some older Ranka songs to make room for it on my iPod playlist. -VF-171 with some Super parts... I miss the olde VF-17 super packs... Quote
Gubaba Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Did no one like the Ai-kun the friendly vajra song? I did! Maybe they'll use it as the next ending theme... BTW, this is what, like Ending #10 or 11? Let's see...we've had 1. Do You Remember Love? 2. Aimo 3. Diamond Cravasse 4. Aimo ~BIRD HUMAN~ 5. Cat Diary 6. Diamond Crevasse (Ranka Version) 7. Northern Cross 8. Triangler 9. Blue Ether ...am I missing anything...? Quote
MisaForever Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Ok, I'm going to assume that some of you are rating these episodes on a TOTALLY DIFFERENT scale than I am. I haven't found one bad episode in my book but I suppose that's my optimistic nature. Quote
s-girl Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 (edited) After watching Ranka really flounder the last episode, I am much happier with this turnaround in her character, although in a ways, 20 was a regression for her overall. I was also very touched by the last image of Ranka that was showing at the end of the credits. It was a beautiful illustration. Wish we had it without the credits. Of course, now with the last few episodes, I'm still bothered by Alto's cardboard reactions. Is he unable to understand the enemy as a complex creature with perhaps its own issues? When he was about to off Ai-kun, and Brera b*tchslapped him, I actually was completely in agreement with Brera's actions. If the next episode isn't about Alto and allowing him to process and mature things, then I'll be seroiusly annoyed and start rooting for him to eat the pineapple. (Based on the preview though, it looks like the next episode will let Alto sort of figure things out. I hope.) Edited August 29, 2008 by s-girl Quote

I haven't found one bad episode in my book but I suppose that's my optimistic nature. I'm with you. I've voted positive every time...once I almost voted neutral, but thought better of it. I understand how the "all mecha porn, all the time" crowd will be disappointed by episodes like this one. Every once in a while, I check out the Frontier threads on RT.com, and there's one guy there who seems intent on ripping the series to shreds, and I understand that, too. Azrael's rationale made sense as well. But everyone else...? I don't get it. But then, I think I'm at the point where they could have an entire episode of Luca sitting around in his underwear, watching TV, and I'd still eat it with a spoon. Totally Frontier brainwashed, I am... Edited August 29, 2008 by Gubaba Quote
Kronnang Dunn Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 (edited) To me, this series could not be anymore perfect. Kawamori and crew have outdone themselves with this and I can't wait for the home stretch. I know some of you disagree with me on some things and that's ok. I know I've been unfair in the past with putting others opinions down and I will stop that. But this is truly how I feel about this series and love it. I couldn't agree more... Btw... Somebody reaaally should make a Klan with Superpacks animated gif... (Klan Klan became officially a VF Girl during this episode...) Edited August 29, 2008 by Kronnang Dunn Quote

Wish we had it without the credits. Like my new avatar? Well I feel the pacing on this episode is kinda fast, I also don't understand Brera, he said he want to protect Ranka most, but taking her to Ai-kun homeworld (which surely be full of Vajra's) is kinda weird. Also, did Ranka realize that Brera is her real brother after all those flashback? What about Brera memories? Quote

I haven't found one bad episode in my book but I suppose that's my optimistic nature. I voted negative for both the panty chasing episode and also the tori no hito one. Panty chasing episode was pointless. In fact, the whole arc of Sheryl and Ranka joining alto's school was pointless as well. Sheryl joining the school served no purpose at all except to have a plot device to pilot Michel's VF-25. I would've preferred it if they spent just 1 episode on how life on campus is like with Alto, Sheryl and Ranka instead of panty chasing. And hydra felt really tacked on and out of place....and the animation of these 2 episodes.....don't get me started. Quote

It was just last episode that his best friend was offed by just one of the buggers who looks like Ai-kun. For him the Vajra have been so far mercyless, nameless bugs... what did you expect him to do? He didn´t have the benefit of getting a vision of Ranshe Mei from the Vajra queen, and Ranka so far hadn´t told anybody. Quote
