Syngyne Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Does anyone know if it's possible to purchase sound effects libraries that they use in anime? Specifically, something containing things like the sound when little Temjin's eye lights up at the beginning of this video (which I've been calling Standard Anime Mechanical Noise #3): I realize sound effects libraries cost several hundred dollars. I just want to know if anime-specific ones are available for purchase. I know where to find general ones, but I've never found any containing sounds that Gundam and the like use. Quote
Duke Togo Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 There used to be a website, don't recall the name. Late 90's, that had hundreds if not thousands of anime wavs. Pretty sure its long since gone. Quote
Syngyne Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 Well, if possible I'd want to get proper licenses for use. Quote
Duke Togo Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but having watched a decent amount of anime in my time, I found most sound effects come from Hollywood films. Quote
boinger Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Hikuro was saying he had a pretty extensive collection of anime sound effects, which he uses for his anime fan dubs. So, maybe he would know where to get the licensed versions of anime sound effects. Quote

Funny you should say that. I only noticed recently that the sound of spaceships emerging from fold in Macross Frontier sounds a LOT like the sound effect for the cargo bay doors opening and closing on the Enterprise in Next Gen. There are a few modifications to the effect but if you listen to it I think its clear that the Frontier audio FX team have used part of the sound effect. Thats the other thing about sound effects. Its really easy to use them in such a way that they are unrecognisable, either by slowing them down, speeding them up, or mixing them in with other sound effects. Taksraven Quote
Agent ONE Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 I used to have some great wav files from DYRL effects.. That was many computers ago, no idea where they are now if I even have em. Does anyone else have this kind of thing for macross? I know this thread is about anime in general, but I only care about macross. Quote
