Lonely Soldier Boy Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 20 bucks more? 30? i'll draw the line at 20.... Shhht! Draw the line at five, Yamato may be watching!
do not disturb Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Yamato weathering = three times the MSRP ha! only if you're a sucker. i skipped the 1S for the very same reason. everytime a company comes out with some impossible to get item or some chase item, i just pass. this is no exception especially if it turns out to be a rip off like the 1S.
Dante74 Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 So is there any news whether the weathered (sorry, couldn't resist ) versions will be limited or not?
Scream Man Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 hell with that, is the Tomahawk NORMAL version out yet? Wasnt it due September?
Priss! Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 hell with that, is the Tomahawk NORMAL version out yet? Wasnt it due September? It will be out at october 1st, at least at yamato's page that's the release date
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Looks cool. Will the stuff rub off on your hands when you touch it too much though?
Cache Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 my opinion changed after seeing those close-ups. if the weathered version is any more expensive than the standard, i'll just airbrush gray splotches along the edges of the standard on my own. it looks good enough but that style of weathering just isn't worth anything more to me. burns, gouges, and chipped paint would.
Alex Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Samples of these buggers have been creeping up all over Tokyo. They looked quite nice in the photos. But close up, i'm very much unimpressed with these. Had a quick handle and it felt solid but very underwhelming.

Lonely Soldier Boy Posted September 30, 2008 Author Posted September 30, 2008 Finally a box in proportion with the toy.
OmegaD3k Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Just got my payment request from HLJ. :3
yui1107 Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 (edited) Very movable! the center of gravity and a design of the balance are excellent! Edited October 1, 2008 by yui1107
Californium Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Wha happened to the tampoed markings?
OmegaD3k Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Looks like it's almost as flexible as a Revotec (sp?). O_o
miriya Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Wha happened to the tampoed markings? Good question!!!!
eugimon Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Ah, posability looks great but I'm bummed about the spare tampo markings
SDF-ONE Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 (edited) Type97 has posted pictures of it: http://d.hatena.ne.jp/type97/20080930#p1 Edited September 30, 2008 by SDF-ONE
miriya Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 It looks really good still and very tempting. I have an image request for anyone that has this already.... I want to see what it looks like with the cockpit open but not a close up, rather of the whole body - front and side. Why? I want to see it without the silly smily face. I wonder if the face is easy to take off? Maybe put a painted Shockwave head on there or a VF-1J head. I am sure it would be a major mod though.
kung flu Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 whats the overall height of this model? I would really like to see it side by side with other 1/60s valkyries.
SDF-ONE Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 whats the overall height of this model? I would really like to see it side by side with other 1/60s valkyries. Here is a size comparison found in a magazine a while ago. It should be about 20cm tall. Officially that should have been 21 cm according to the MAHQ (12.7 meters / 60).
dizman Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Ha nice pose yui! Looks pretty good, mine will be on the way soon . The next destroid better not come with the same ground crew.

HoveringCheesecake Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Absolutely no reason these shouldn't have the tampo printing at this price. Went from a maybe buy to a no buy.
miriya Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Ha nice pose yui! Looks pretty good, mine will be on the way soon . The next destroid better not come with the same ground crew. Yes but still include ground crew, just different figures right?
UN Spacy Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 It's a good thing I canceled my preorder at the last second.
eugimon Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 I'm still looking forward to getting mine. The lack of tampo printing hurts but offset by how posable it is.
Valkyrie addict Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 haahaha,....they saved the tampo for the weathered released so they can charge an arm and a legg for it
T0t0r0 Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 (edited) Looking at the pictures on Yamato's website, I don't see any markings on that sample that aren't already painted or tampo'd on the final product. This is the only image I find in the thread that has any additional markings that aren't already tampo'd on the production version. Most of those markings seem like the kind of thing that some people would not necessarily want pre-imprinted on their Destroid. So making them stickers would allow for customizability. Just my thoughts... Edited October 1, 2008 by T0t0r0

Just my thoughts... That is a good point. And thanks for using that pic. Now looking at it again, instead of those triangle stickers on the missile covers I would want to put some cool bombshell decals. The macross Kite could have been tampoed though. I think that this Destroid would look fantastic all customed up with home made weathering and custom decals. Ron5864, are you getting one?

I just finshed a 1/100 Bandai Tomahawk model like 35 minutes ago. It's a bit small. So the Yamato 1/60 should be perfect. I would like repaint it and weather it a bit. Oh BTW, I'll post photos of the still drying Tomahawk model soon. Very soon!
