wolfx Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Trailer: Official website: http://www.xamdou.com/ Its an exclusive downloadable rental for ppl with the PS3. How it works and how to download in blog below: http://www.omonomono.com/2008/07/16/i-got-xamd/#more-421 Despite being an exclusive content for the Playstation Network, i see some vids already out in the usual places. Not sure if they are subbed or not though. Based on the trailer though this new anime looks amazing. Bones outdid themselves this time. Quote
Morpheus Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Everytime I saw the pic, I got the feeling that the girl is being violated by the mech.... Quote
Duke Togo Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 I'm sold. Why couldn't Frontier look this good... Quote
wolfx Posted July 18, 2008 Author Posted July 18, 2008 Why couldn't Frontier look this good... Cuz you didn't do anything bout it. Quote
protogarland Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Interesting. It looks as if they took some ideas from Miyazki's sci-fi/fantasy mixture. One of the first things I thought of when I saw the trailer was that it had hints of Nausicaa style themes. Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 That is so sweet I crapped my pants. lol he does kareoke! Quote
wolfx Posted July 21, 2008 Author Posted July 21, 2008 So i watched the show. Looks interesting. Setting looks sorta like Last Exile and we have a girl with an aero-glider remeniscent of that in Nausicaa. End of ep 1 the guy turns into that creature thing that sorta reminds u of Nirvash's true form. Lots of veins morphing and stuff ala Akira. Looks promising but getting proper encodes of this show might be impossible. Quote

BTW, Random Curiosity already blogged episode 1: http://randomc.animeblogger.net/2008/07/17...st-memories-01/ Everytime I saw the pic, I got the feeling that the girl is being violated by the mech.... You mean this: BTW....if that's the female lead, why does she remind me of someone, a character from another anime with the same hair color and facial features. Cuz you didn't do anything bout it. http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/6084/dukehh5.jpg All Hail Duke Togo!!! The Karaoke King!!! Quote
Duke Togo Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 All Hail Duke Togo!!! The Karaoke King!!! Stage fright, flashy... the feeling's splashy... Quote
wolfx Posted July 27, 2008 Author Posted July 27, 2008 Ep 2....wow....rag tag group of randoms and some orphans on an airship....again? Some parts of ep 2 had quality issues but i like it. No idea what's a Xam'd yet but it sorta looks anime-version of the Hulk. Strangely his clothes were intact after the ordeal too. Has good potential. Will be following this series. Quote
yellowlightman Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 BTW....if that's the female lead, why does she remind me of someone, a character from another anime with the same hair color and facial features. Because a lot of anime characters look the same? Quote
Morpheus Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Just saw it this morning, what get me hooked is the airships Quote
GRAND CANNON Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 (edited) First link I've found: "http://www.datorrents.com/download.php?id=38386&name=[Effort]%20Bounen%20no%20Xamdou%20-%2001%20[720p][A6B48B30]%20.mkv.torrent" You'll have to copy/paste....wouldn't post the link correctly. Can't wait to check it out. Edited July 30, 2008 by GRAND CANNON Quote
Morpheus Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Hmm, reminds me a lot of Eureka 7, Nirvash final evolution, Holland type captain, orphans, airships. Episode 1 to 3 could be found on the web, I suggest looking at /m/chan for direct download links. Quote
GRAND CANNON Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 yeah, found the other links nuder its synonym, Xam'd Lost Memories. Quote

yellowlightman Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 I saw episode 4 review from Random Curiosity, anyone else has seen it? Watched the first two episodes, haven't gotten around to watching the next two. It's pretty good. Some of the designs are terrible (characters, organic stuff) but the stuff they took from Miyazaki is great. Here's the review that made me give it a shot. Quote
wolfx Posted August 15, 2008 Author Posted August 15, 2008 I saw episode 4 review from Random Curiosity, anyone else has seen it? Ep 5 by GGR is out. Quote
yellowlightman Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Ep 5 by GGR is out. Cracks me up that fansubbers are putting their tags on this series, when all they're doing is encoding the video off the PS3. But then they're fansubbers, who are easily some of the biggest idiots in fandom, so... Quote
wolfx Posted August 17, 2008 Author Posted August 17, 2008 next ep preview....Haru and the other guy join the ASP corps.....oh noez. Quote
Gui Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 I watched the very first ep yesterday: it certainly looks promising; I like the overall designs, somewhere between Nausicäa and Last Exile, and the plot seems interesting although it looks like this show has a lot of similarities with Eureka 7 (the situation between the main hero and his father, the mysterious white haired girl, the group of some sort of 'freedom fighters' in a big plane, etc) which is not a bad thing to me... I wasn't in the mood to watch the second ep yesterday aswell but I'll probably keep on this series Quote
wolfx Posted August 19, 2008 Author Posted August 19, 2008 EP 5 and the quality is still spetacular. I only wished Frontier had this kinda quality. Quote
Beltane70 Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Damn, I can only find eps 1 and 3 on Tokyo Toshokan. Quote
wolfx Posted August 19, 2008 Author Posted August 19, 2008 Damn, I can only find eps 1 and 3 on Tokyo Toshokan. Try typing "Xam" in the search box. Hope that helps. Quote
Beltane70 Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 That did the trick. Many thanks, wolfx! Quote
Duke Togo Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 EP 5 and the quality is still spetacular. I only wished Frontier had this kinda quality. Man, if I said it once, I said it a thousand times. For the life of me I do not understand why a series such as this (or say, Eureka 7) can look so good, but somehow they are unable to even come close when it comes to the newest entry of the Macross franchise. ssfsx17 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Do Akiyuki's parents truly believe that he is alive now? Or, are they thinking something like, "Oh how cute, his girlfriend forged his handwriting! It's nice that you feel that way, Haru, but I hope you get over his loss the way we have." Quote
Duke Togo Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I haven't had time to check this out, really. 5 episodes in, what do you guys think about this show? Quote
Sam Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 i like it enough to keep watching it personally. even though its got so much E7 same-ness through out. Im looking forward to some show offs of powers in it though! Quote
wraith1701 Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Do Akiyuki's parents truly believe that he is alive now? Or, are they thinking something like, "Oh how cute, his girlfriend forged his handwriting! It's nice that you feel that way, Haru, but I hope you get over his loss the way we have." I was under the impression that they realize that he is alive. At least his mother does. She seemed to refuse to accept the possibility of him being dead from the start. Not so sure about his dad, though; he seems to be too focused on his guilt over the last war. The dad seems to almost wish ill-fortune on himself and his family, to atone for his involvement with the humanform weapons project. I haven't had time to check this out, really. 5 episodes in, what do you guys think about this show? I think it's seven episodes in now... episode 6 came out 2 days ago, and episode 7 was supposed to be released at the same time. Haven't found 7 yet, though... I think the show is amazing! It's kind of hard for me to quantify what I like about it, but it has a cool, appealing "feel" to it. The animation and character designs are great, as is the music. In a lot of ways, it feels like something from studio Ghibli; the character and mech designs feel simultaneously familiar and alien. The world in which the story takes place is pretty interesting; it feels kinda steam-punk, kind of modern-day, kind of near-future.. It's like a fairy-tale world mixed with a dash of apocalypse.
