I don't understand how people can wait to watch it, I can't. Graham Gee - you must be a big time Macross Fan if you're that into it! As a side note: I have been tempted for a long time to note that logic would dictate that, given the title of this thread, the MWordler who started it would do all he could to avoid it VFTF1 Quote
kanedaestes Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Yep I can't do it. I love the anticipation of waiting each week, then waiting an extra day or two for the subs to come out. Plus with all the threads about the new toys, and with avatars showing scenes from the show i don't want to be lost. Imagine looking at that one avatar with the 25 pulling out a knife and being like wow um okay so now VFs have knives they can deploy whenever, or missing the transforming armored pack for Ozma, man you just got to suck it up and watch. ruskiiVFaussie Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 (edited) Oh of course I will, just maybe not this fall...every two-to-three years seems often enough. Although, really, it seems like the only long-lasting benefit of Macross Marathons is that I can catch and drop obscure references here... So what order would you watch it all in? Recently i tried to watch Zero non stop, then started the tv series non-stop, but i eneded up needing sleep just before the final showdown and i didn't want to waste it on a half dozing view. So, i'm going to start over again (wife won't be back for another month from holiday with her mum) and i'll watch Zero much MUCH earlier (like 5 in the morning) and then try and get the whole tv series in before i crash. Mac 7 (which i haven't touched yet) will be hard. Whats that, 40 sumthin episodes plus movies? That's more than a day? The in-betweens are easy enough though! I would never do an ACTUAL marathon...two-to-three episodes (or a movie) per day is enough for me. Once Frontier's added to the mix, it would take about seven or eight weeks. As for the order, I always watch it in production order: 1. SDF Macross 2. DYRL 3. Flashback 2012 4. Macross II 5. Macross-A Future Chronicle and Macross Plus 6. Macross's Fastest Liftoff and Macross 7 7. Macross 7/Macross Plus Movies 8. Macross 7 Encore 9. Macross Dynamite 7 10. 20th Anniversary DVD and Macross Zero I'm unsure what to do with Frontier, since I don't particularly want to watch the Deculture Edition and the Broadcast Edition of Frontier on the same night, so I'll probably watch the 25th Anniversary Special (and Deculture) on the first night and the Yakk Deculture Edition (with eps. 2 and 3) on the second...and cut out the Broadcast Edition completely. BTW, watching the Deculture Edition again...damn, Shinsen messed up on a lot of the names. "Hiiro"...? Quote

I've noticed the Shinsen subs for Deculture too, but it was before we had a lot of information on the people's names. They used Lanka in that but updated it to Ranka for the broadcast. All they had to go on in Deculture was what they heard. Since I preferred the deculture edition it is what I put on my burned DVD's (which I have 2 now, the first 10 episodes with Shinsen Subs) so it kind of stands out. I kind of hope when the DVD's come out Shinsen will try to do a subbing of the Yakk Deculture edition so we can all enjoy the full episode 1. Quote

Yeah, I definitely understand WHY mistakes like that get made...but I really hope someone comes along, AFTER we got the real lyrics to the songs, AFTER we learned that the guy's name is spelled "Michael Blanc," AFTER "Ranka" won out over "Lanka," AFTER oblique hints in the dialogue are spelled out, and do a real proper sub of the show. If no one else wants to do it, hell, I'll learn how to do myself. Anyone with me? Quote

Duke Togo floated the idea to me a while back and it sounded good to me then. Not sure if he'd still be in on it, though. But me, I'd like to re-sub ALL of Macross, and impose some uniformity on the subs (mostly for little things like romanization of names and making sure that repeated dialogue (in, for example, Flashback 2012 or Frontier) gets trasnlated the same way every time). That'd take a while, though. Quote
Xeros Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I like the idea... As for me, I have a half made DVD of frontier but I'm unable to finish it because I disconected the Hard drive were the raws and subtitles sources are saved Besides, the M7 dvd set takes priority because is much more data (106 GB) Quote

However I am good with computers and 'mechanical stuff' as other people have noted so maybe I can do something. The real question for me is do I have the time. Perhaps we should look into it. It would certainly give me an excuse to build a complete Macross library. I still haven't even watched passed episode 1 of Mac7 (I'm still watching original SDF Macross, I'm on ep.17 I believe). I never got to see Flashback actually... Quote
