Is it RCFP 36 who we see shoot Vajra up in the preview to 14? Then I agree, that dude's got some smooth moves B))

Bah, he's nowhere NEAR as good as the guy in the green-trimmed flight suit in Brown Squadron in the original SDFM, or that one guy in the white VF-11 in Mac7...

How easily people forget...

I meant "real" anime forums. Robotech.com doesn't count and I've never been there anyway.

I've been to AnimeNation, AnimeSuki, AP, MAHQ, Megaverse, and a few others. There's some interesting opinions for sure :)

Ok then. To be honest, I am not much of a general anime fan outside of Macross and a few other shows such as Evangelion, Yamato, Gatchaman, etc.....mainly stuff I grew up with, (The original Kimba series was the first anime that I saw, even though I did not know that it was overdubbed Japanese stuff at the time. Ignorant 5 year olds, eh.) so to me a lot of Anime forums and sites are pretty useless.

Thats why I love this site, specialising in the Anime that I consider to be the best.

Even though I "joined" earlier this year, I discovered this site and started lurking when Macross Zero was going and have always liked to come back.

I know that Robotech is not "real" anime, and the forums there were quite disturbing. At the end of the day you have to feel sorry for a lot of the Robotech fanatics (and by that I mean those who try to say that macross is crap, there are some).

...I just went to Robotech.com and feel dirty...

I'm a sucker for this place and AnimeSuki though.

Anyway, wild speculation time. And, I really hope I'm horribly wrong and this doesn't end up happening...

Michael isn't going to make it out of the next episode alive. Sheryl will get banged up pretty bad, however the Valk ends up, and end up in the hospital.

They are all going to die. I mean you cannot seriously expect them to survive to Vajra, Brera, Grace, rogue Zentradis and Dimension Eater at the same time. And if they do survive, I am sure that several arms and legs will be missing in the process. Can you imagine Sheryl without breasts guys ?

I really hope they don't kill Ozma, they writers seem to love killing off the leaders of the top squadrons in the macross universe. The reason why I say this is episode 17 is called "Goodbye, Sister" and the only person we know that has a sister is Ozma.

But hey, it's better than this one, on which at least 90% of the members not only hate Ranka, but Frontier in general and the VF-25 in particular.

I lol'd. My site got mentioned as a den of Macross Frontier haters. While I'm flattered that we're getting attention as a group that hate Macross 7 so much we'd happily hold Kawamori's head underwater until the bubbles stopped, we're not really Macross Frontier haters. I'll confess we didn't have high hopes for a series that was billed as a direct sequel to Macross 7, but most of us on Macross2.net actually don't find the series to be bad. It's not inducing the same euphoric state in us that it seems to induce in most of the people here, but hey, we're not lining up with torches and pitchforks to crucify it. I'd sum up my complaints about the series as a lack of originality in the mecha designs, and one or two genuinely one-dimensional characters, especially our One-Dimensional Cinderella Ranka Lee.

My money's on Ranka Lee dying. Leon and Grace have been alluding to it nonstop. She's as good as dead, which is actually kind of a shame, because I was hoping she'd get at least a little more character development before she shuffled off this mortal coil. I totally think that Luca's on the chopping block too. He wears Kakizaki's colors, in any other Macross title that's an indication of being earmarked for a messy death. Ozma doesn't get enough screen time for anyone to have really empathized with him, and he's not a big brother figure to Altoh, so he's probably safe.

I think that Ozma has been roughly getting as much screen time as Roy in the original SDF:M series (probably a little bit more actually), so I still think that he will suffer the same fate as Roy. Not killed outright but mortally wounded in his cockpit.

Brera is also a 99% confirmed real brother of Ranka, so it can be him.

Well, it's thursday here in the far east, I hear Random Cannon Fodder Pilots 23, 42 and 48 have just been served pineapple salad and/or steak.

I didn't see a whole lot of positive stuff about Frontier on your forum...but maybe I just can't get past all the "the VF-25 is ugly" posts...

Second page and I see something like this:

I tried to sit down and watch this, but it's even dumber than Macross 7 was. Seriously, they need to ditch the song and dance routaines and get back to the giant tranforming robot asskickery.

Can someone pull up the ORLY owl image? *major eye roll here*

I want to acknowledge the vital role that the Random Cannon Fodder Pilots play. Poor guys, you would think they would wise up when on graduation they get issued bulls-eyes not pilot wings.

I reckon Ozma has a better chance of surviving than Brera and I would pay to see Leon check out in a painful messy way (serves him right for getting his grubby paws all over Cathy). Micheal will understand his sister just before he gets it. If the series turns ugly by around ep20 the death toll could be huge.

what, you mean klan will hook up with alto, and michael will end up killing her with a sniper shot? darn, that's harsh. :p

or check that, rewind, and...

what, you mean alto-hime will hook up with Bobby, and michael will end up killing him with a sniper shot? darn, that's harsh. :p

Yes, it is  The oddest thing about that thread is that they were talking about the Deculture Episode. The first episode o__O Okay I concede, the VFs are ugly :p

LOL :) I haven't been to the forums on Seto's website, but it's no surprise that some may not like Macross Frontier. His website isn't the only one with a different opinion, but I think we should count ourselves fortunate that most who watch Macross Frontier are enjoying it. It can also be hard to separate the real critics from the "fanboyz" too. I trust Seto's opinion, but I have found on some sites I regularly visit like AnimeNation, AnimeSuki, etc that some criticism is coming from fans who only know how to express themselves negatively even if they don't really feel that way. I'll see such fans in one thread trashing Frontier only to see them glowing after strong episode or going all geek in a tech thread. But I suppose that's the nature of fandom :)

I believe that those type of fans are only "Mecha fans"

As I said in other thread to me Macross is more than Mecha, but that not implies that I enjoy good dogfights xD

Actually that's what surprised me - it wasn't "some". They were almost proclaiming in unison that it's rubbish (mecha design, characters, music, story) after the first episode. To each their own I suppose.

I was gonna say that Macross was a romance drama that only happens to have mecha in it. But that didn't seem to fit either. With that in mind, it's probably safe to say that Macross is just about equal parts mecha and equal parts romance.

Mecha romance ftw

So with two death tag (pineapple salad and steak) I wonder if MF will introduce another death tag.

My bet is that some of the pixies will be shot down in epi.14. And as for traditional Macross rule :

Macross Quarter will met a GARified end in the last episode.
