UN Spacy Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Haven't watched the ep yet, but I'm betting next week's appearance of the SDF-1 will just be a flashback to Space War 1. Graham In the preview the Macross is surrounded by a few Guantanamo class CVS'. Quote
dreamweaver13 Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Don't feel like reading 10 pages right now so sorry if someone already pointed this out, but... Anyone else think of Basara's -19 when Alto's -25 fell outta the sky? What caused that again in that M7 ep? another ruin? and this time to tell about the vajra? instead of leaving all these clues, couldn't these damn protoculture have just used the time on their hands to...um, i don't know...find a way to SURVIVE?? Morpheus Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 If memory serves me right that was just a bad defolding. This definately has to do with the fact that Ranka's voice equals mean giant lobsters want to attack you. You mean during Macross 7: The Galaxy is Failing Me? Darn, I was hoping Basara to died crash landing like that. Quote

UN_MARINE Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 AWESOME !!! so we agree it's the Macross? i think it says "this is my show. you other guys, OUT!" if they're really going to explain how it got there in ep13, does that mean we get to see the Macross in action again? MACROSS CANNON !!! and will it involve some degree of extra maneuverability just like the 'Quarter ? the questions & anticipation are mind blowing! Did Macross show up in M0? if memory serves, they only showed the nasty vapor trail it left when it entered the atmosphere & crashed. Quote

Kronnang Dunn Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 (edited) just realized. if not for the last 10 or so seconds of the episode, most of the posts would have been talking about either the zentraedi or the love triangle. what a difference a single spaceship makes. Err... Of course... We are talking about the Macross. That ship is the essence of the franchise... Thank you Kazutaka Miyatake for that ship...!!!! Did Macross show up in M0? Can't remember... Perhaps during Shin's epilogue? It was mentioned though... Btw, here is the complete Episode 13 preview text... Episode 13 preview: "The first Macross ship suddenly appeared. When this brave warrior awakes, Alto will experience the fate of planets. Next episode: 'Memory of Global.' Resound through the galaxy, sound of fighting." Next episode is going to be completely awesome... I hope Temzin survived the stab and the crash. He could be a good anatonist to Alto and friends. His last words to Alto were "I'll never forget you... This galaxy isn't big enough for 2 species to coexist..." or something like it, hehe... Btw, I just found this in 4chan. Watch and cry M7 haters, hehehe... Edited June 27, 2008 by Kronnang Dunn Quote

hevangel2 Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Ok. Since no one had made this bold statement, I will be the first one. In M+, M7, we see the immigration fleet communicate with Earth once a while. In MF, we never heard anything from Earth since ep.1, so... If SDF-1 is on Earth, then the simplest explanation is Gallie 4 = Earth! Quote
junior Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 actually, though sheryl feels really bad about not flying with alto herself, she probably would've approved of ranka flying with alto to realize her gift. she's a class act, that sheryl I'm sure she would have given her blessing. But that doesn't change the fact that... 1.) She enjoys flying with Alto (as seen in episode 2.) She's the one that arranged things so that Alto could realize his dream of flying in a sky with no dome But instead of getting to enjoy the fruits of her labor, she's so sick that she's unable to stand without using something to support herself. She goes to the trouble to set things up so that she can spend some time with Alto, and instead she's forced to cede it to Ranka due to the fighting and her illness. Class act or no, she's probably feeling just a bit miserable and put upon at the moment. Hopefully she'll recover enough that she'll get her own flight with Alto before they leave. Quote

Sumdumgai Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Well for the benefit of the doubt, it could be the ASS-2 that was encountered in SDF Macross when Max and Miria were with Vriltwhai and Misa to go capture the Zentraedi factory. Maybe while all the colony fleets were being sent off one of them discovered it, sent a message back to Earth with the coordinates, and a salvage/research team went and picked it up. After making sure that it wasn't a booby trap (or after having lost a ship because it was a booby trap like the Macross), they salvage the ship, bring it back to Earth and fix it up like the SDF-1 Macross, and put ARMD carriers on it. And it was named... THE MACROSS II. *ducks and runs for cover* If that were the case, the theory that what we saw in Episode 12 of MF could have been used to film DYRL, since an existing sister-ship to the Macross could have been lent out for use in a pro-UN Spacy movie. Maybe sometime after the making of DYRL, but before the time of Macross Frontier, it was part of a fleet that was lost, hence the Stealth Carriers that weren't around during Space War I. It would have had to have been there for a while to have such a weathered look with all the mossy planty bits on it. Or... Maybe the Megaroad-01 came across a deserted Supervision Army Gunboat of the same class as what was converted into the Macross, and they refitted it to use as an escort ship should they run into any big nasty fleets of zentraedi or supervision army. Then it was lost on Gallia IV around the time when the Megaroad-01 fleet disappeared. Although this wouldn't explain what we saw in the "next episode" bit, seeing what looked like the Macross with a bunch of Stealth Carriers. I bet Temjin is going to make a comeback. Yeah, his Q-rea got shot and stabbed, but we didn't see blood in the cockpit, and we didn't see an explosion after his Q-rea went under water, it just splashed down. Grace is EVIL. EVIL I TELL YOU! They probably looks like a relic now Global would be around 100 year if he's alive (I just noticed that Global is married in 2003 to a girl name Miho). So as if WTF-1 is indeed the original SDF-1, what would NUNS do then, considering the ship importance I'm expecting them to salvage the ship and restore it to its former glory. It's getting weirder, if the original SDF-1 is missing several years prior to MF, wouldn't the N.U.G. organized a massive search? I mean its like Paris suddenly lost its Eiffel tower or New York loosing the Liberty statue. Quote

So, he must be like 96 years old by now!!!! He could still be alive, yes... But very very very old... I just thought something terrible. That maybe the reason the SDF-1 is on Galia 4 is that it made an emergency fold from a VAJRA INFESTED EARTH!!!! I really hope that's not the case, hehe... Btw... I found a comment in 4chan (related to "the SDF-1 on Galia 4" issue) that made me laugh a lot, hehe... Hopefully she'll recover enough that she'll get her own flight with Alto before they leave. just so there is no misunderstanding: when i said sheryl was a class act, i did not mean she would just be acting that it's ok alto flies with ranka. rather i meant class act = A+ character, ie that she's mature and selfless enough not to deny alto his joy of flying despite it coming at the expense of losing out to a rival. sheryl must really have genuine feelings for alto... and for that, i'm changing my avatar until we get to the next sheryl-on-top episode Quote

Keith Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 OMFG that was an awesome episode. Though I still stand by my original assumption, Alto will end up with Sheryl, Sheryl is the Misa of the triangle. Ranka does win major star points in this episode though, finally breaking her out of her timid shell. As for the Macross, there are so many possaiblities here, I haven't read through more than 2 pages back, so forgive me if I'm repeating someone elses crazy theory, but: Assuming VFX-2 is still canon, and there were coorperate spies high up in the U.N. Spacy, it's likely there may have been a major event that tore it apart after the events in the game. If the U.N. Spacy did fall apart, that would explain our current situation with the NUNS, & various PMC's. The colony fleets would be on their own without a central government hub, so it makes sense the non-currupt UNS leftovers would try to recover somehow. And hey, what if Global was still alive, why wouldn't he try to steal the Macross & dash of with it. It was his ship afterall, and it had already fallen into enemy hands twice on Earth (Sharon & Timothy Dalton's crew). The Macross 13 incident could have been just the start of a major rumblel on Earth. And since the colony's were autonomous for all intents, it wouldn't be too hard to filter out news from the Galaxy Network about what was going on Earthside. If he did indeed steal the ship though, the next episodes title leads me to believe he died in the process. The wild card here are still the Vajra, but I'm getting an Earth f*cked AFOS technology, vibe, but we'll see. All wild speculation at this point, but exciting possabilities await. Personally, I'd like to see Max & Battle 7 pop up in a big battle with whoever the protagonists turn out to be towards the end of the series. A bigger badder Battle 7, as we never did get to see the final build in Dynamite. Of course I'd love to see Basara pop up too. On topic of what Tenzan (was that his name?) used to knock out Alto, it could be something similar to what Kamjin used to bring down the Macross on Mars. Doubtful he'd have anythign close to the Protoculture's nullyfying ruins technology that brought down Basara & Gigil on Lux. Regardless, this show needs to be licensed, I want an announcement at AX!
