bsu legato Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 It would be the Zentradi version of "They Saved Hitler's Brain." And NOBODY wants that... Personally, if it wouldn't violate the shows internal logic in about a dozen different ways, I would love to see that. See also: My forthcoming Zentraedi fanfic The Boys From B'rzjll. Quote

And what you're complaining? Boobs are good for your mental health. To be serious, fan services are always part of Macross franchise, and trust me, I know some non-hentai anime that shows more boobs than Macross Frontier. ... seriously...actually looking at boobs is good for physical health, according to a certain study its good for our hearts because of the increased blood circulation a boob a day keeps the doctor away. Sergorn Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 There's something I didn't quite get in this episode.... at the beginning we see Ranka sending a mail to Alto, talking about his birthday and stuff. And the next scene he says to Nana he hasn't heard from Ranka. Huh ? -Sergorn Quote

And the next scene he says to Nana he hasn't heard from Ranka. Huh ? -Sergorn I don't think she actually sent it - she is writing it, but then when her manager comes to get her I get the impression she turned the phone off without sending the message she was writing. The other possibility was that Alto didn't check his messages, but Ranka's later voice mail she leaves seems to indicate she hadn't communicated anything to him prior, so she must not have sent it. -Elektrix Quote
Wes Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Alto chose the path that furthered the plot and the amount of wicked mech fights - he choosed wisely. But if I was him I'd be laying the smackdown reality-TV-intervention-style on alot of these people. Alto "LISTEN YOU LITTLE $%#S I WANT TO FLY I'VE WANTED TO FOREVER IT'S MY CHOSEN PROFESSION BACK OFF!!! CAN'T HANDLE IT - EAT A #$@*." I mean really if you're apparently under the caste system in Macross Frontier. I don't think we want to draw parallels to this episode and original Macross - last time the Zentraedi pilot goes one on one with the ace pilot that pilot developed a crush on the other. Just let that roll around in your brains until Thrusday. Quote
Kronnang Dunn Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 (edited) Because it was a split-second shot in the preview...? And even if it was his head, we're supposed to believe that somehow, his head managed to avoid being damaged with a ship blowing up all around it, and that then the head found a way to get off the planet...? It would be the Zentradi version of "They Saved Hitler's Brain." And NOBODY wants that... Remember Boddole Zer in DYRL... Btw... I found very fishy that Grace wanted Sheryl in Galia IV. Perhaps NUNS/Leon/Grace/Galaxy/Whatever wanted Sheryl abducted by the Zentradi there so they could test the VAJRA in Galia IV... (Damned company!!!). Edited June 23, 2008 by Kronnang Dunn Quote

Gubaba Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Remember Boddole Zer in DYRL... Yes, I remember. I also remember Kamjin's battleship blowing up pretty thoroughly. And wasn't there a shot of Kamjin and Laplamiz vaporizing, as well? Now if it's a clone of Kamjin, fine. But Kamjin himself...? The writers are going to tying themselves in knots trying to figure out a way to explain that... Quote
Sergorn Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Regarding Alto.... (late thoughts yeah ). I definitly understand why he chose to go with Sheryl... it's not a issue per se. However not telling Ranka himself really makes him look like an ass, or a corward at best. I mean sending Michel ? Oh come on... Eck, I think Alto is pretty much aware of the feelings Ranka have for him - he obviously cares for her, but definitly not in a romantic way (yet anyway...), so I guess perhaps he'd just didn't want to hurt her feeling bu talking to her directly. But geez... sending Michel must be even more hurting. (And what the eck ? Are they all afraid to deal with Ranka ? Even Ozma juste let a voice message when he told her he went on a mission ) Anyway I stick with my first impressions - while thise episode admitingly didn't further the plot much, it did further quite a bit on the relationship front, and in a Macross series this is IMO just as important as the plot. -Sergorn Quote
Shaka_Z Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 most likely a clone of him... kamjin that is. unless that scene of him and laplamiz vaporizing wasn't absolute proof of death - after all (using a reference to BSG here - consider this my donning of an anti-flame suit lol), starbuck *died* by imploding viper deep in the atmosphere of a gas giant last season. she came back. in a brand spanking new viper no less. and I need to say that at this time I am in love with sheryl. she reminds me a great deal of an ex-girlfriend that I am *still* kicking myself over losing (thru my own immaturity at the time... damn college hormones) 15 years ago. and if we are gonna count 'pilot gives potential girlfriend joyride' moments: Ranka 1 (the rescue in ep 2) Sheryl 2 (the first concert 'accident' and the save at the end of the panty chase) Quote
Shaka_Z Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 (And what the eck ? Are they all afraid to deal with Ranka ? dreamweaver13 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 (edited) On the subject of how Grace could talk to Leon without appearing to physically talk, all cyborg ways that can be done aside I have another option that could explain it. First off I do now believe Grace is Brera's commander, I just wanted to wait for more proof but I was getting convinced after ep. 10. Anyway, this is something from a Star Wars book. In Republic Commando: True Colors the members of Omega Squad have these implants that were put into their jaws somewhere designed for silent communication. They basically work by the commando moving his jaw ever so slightly in a way similar to how it would move if he was actually speaking and those movements are translated into what he is really saying and sent through the com-link like a normal transmission. The purpose of this being so one can contact the other in a situation where they don't want to be heard (if there is someone they are hiding from) or if they are supposed to look inconspicuous while talking on the com-link. Knowing Grace's cyborg nature and love of implants she could just as easily have an implant like this (assuming it isn't something equally as sci-fi like transmitting her thoughts into speech over the com-link). One thing that makes me think she is speaking to Leon there is how she is holding her hand to her temple while she is trying to look like she is asleep or resting. It seems almost identical to how she held her hand to her head in ep. 6 when she received the call about Galaxy being attacked on her implant phone which is in her head. ah, ok, got it now. thanks for trying to explain it from a non-cyborg perspective. greatly appreciated. The character name of Grace O'Connor was listed at the end credits of episode 10... and she never appeared... apparently. Ergo, the agent was Grace... I never said anything about the seyuu... And I didn't come with any of this. Most ppl in these forums did a couple weeks ago... Where have u been? Watching soccer games or what? ok i'm seeing it now. confused credits with the seiyuu. and it looks like i misinterpreted the whole credits discussion. my bad. no, not soccer. been watching macross 7 again...er... ok, let's just go with soccer. hahah... i've been repeating about the ep 10 credits many times already, still people either don't get it or "refuse" to get it. nah, plainly i just misunderstood it. a weekend-off logged out from the web does wonders to clear clogged brain circuits. now, as for that other guy who posted an insult (something about an enigma code).... meh, why bother? I don't take him seriously anyway. Edited June 23, 2008 by dreamweaver13 Quote

dreamweaver13 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 It could be just a flashback and not an actual appearance by Kamjin. And so many boobies in this episode. A lot of boobies. actually, if we apply occam's razor, this would be the most simplistic and probable answer. the 33rd fleet could just be reminiscing about the history of their malcontent, and kamjin (DYRL-designed) would be at the forefront of those recollections. but most of us (myself included) would like to hope that this is not the case. otherwise, we've been had!! kawamori has toyed with our emotions again! Well, they are kind of an updated version, and were superior to the Male armour in almost every way. My criticism of the old Q-Rau would be the lack of a knockout weapon, which the male armour had. Now, with the new shoulder cannon, they have a successful blend of both. Quote

Sumdumgai Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Still looking for an explanation as to why they are no longer equipped with the arm mounted beam cannons? That would be because these being used in Macross Frontier are not Queadluun-Rau, they're Queadluun-Rea, a variant that has supposedly been in service since "ancient times". We just never saw it used in the series before. Although the Macross Compendium entry on the Q-rea states that the arm cannons are "triple-barreled laser pulse guns", I wonder, due to the use of simunition with the Q-rea in episode 4. Entry on the Q-rea at Macross Compendium I wonder if those chest cannons are still impact cannons like on the Q-rau or if they're laser or beam cannons... Quote
