pfunk Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 Can anyone confirm if the faceplate is removable? You can remove it, but its not supposed to and you can break it. Quote
Hurricane29 Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 A nose and a spearker like mouth. The pics are floating around here somewhere. Quote
MrDisco Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 thats odd they would sculpt a face but not make the faceplate removeable (without breaking it) Quote
Southpaw Samurai Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 Well, from certain angles, you can see pretty far down his face when he's 'talking' (okay, so I noticed only because I was curious if there was anything behind the plate), so I suppose they didn't want just a blank space...although you could've gotten away with such and no one would've known better. What can you say? I've seen Japanese designed toys with detailing where only someone who wanted to break the toy would ever see, so it's not too surprising. Quote
UN Spacy Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 (edited) is there anything behind the faceplate? YES. EDIT: I didn't see Californium's post. Edited January 9, 2004 by UN Spacy Quote

danster69 Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 I just got my Prime today too. It is awesome! The box says MP-1. Is it okay to asume that this will be part of a series? By the way my light for the matrix does not work i press the button and nothing. Is there something i need to tweak? Quote
Californium Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 Try pushing the forward edge of the button toward the back of the torso. Quote
Drad Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 danster.. Pull the button backward slightly, it'll click.. and the light goes on. Quote
Godzilla Posted January 10, 2004 Author Posted January 10, 2004 Hey, this is what this guy from Ebay is saying that there is a difference between the Takara and Hasbro but I thought that was not true that the stacks would not be neutered. Ebay Quote
David Hingtgen Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 It's been confirmed for a while now the stacks are chopped. Remeber, Hasbro said months ago that it was their GOAL to have the same stacks. Well, they failed that goal. (Nobody really expected them, it was the most "placating" news post in a while from Hasbro). They also said the gun will be black. It's not, it's grey like the JP one, at least for the first wave. Now people are saying it'll be a running change. We'll see. And US Prime has battle damage painted on. Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 omg it's Skeletor Prime! Then they should make a He-Man Prime . Anyway to the main point where can I find Hasbro`s version and is it cheaper than Takara`s one ? Quote
kalvinmaui Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 Just got mine in. This is a true masterpiece. Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 I wonder who started it with this Convoy skull face, it was neither in the original Diaclone comics or the TF show. Why did Takara make this face ?! at first it put me off <_ Quote
Beware of Blast Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 (edited) Hm, now I can see why Prime sounded the way Peter Cullen VOed him. I mean, look at the gritting teeth! That faceplate musta been some sort of protection for his fellow Autobots - in case his teeth explodes from the constant chewing and (god forbid) creates deadly flying splinters, that can pierce them all to death. Hurricane29 Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 There was a scene in a comic where Prime gets trashed and has his faceplate knocked off revealing his mout and nose. Quote

UN Spacy Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 that's funny, where did you get that strip(comic)?? I think I found it lurking around one of the Transformers forums. Maybe tf2005........ Quote

Southpaw Samurai Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 Y'know, if he smiled more, unmasked Masterpiece Prime would almost look like Jet Jaguar.... So sue me, but I loved that horrible Godzilla movie as a kid... Quote
mark-1s Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 I just got my MP Prime yesterday and all I can say is HOLY S**T! This thing is sweeeet! Worth every penny. The only problem I have is the head keeps popping off (keep your minds' out of the gutter ). Anyone else have this problem? -1s. Quote
Beware of Blast Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 Mine does not "pop off" at all when I turn and pose his head. I don't think you're suppose to lift Convoy by holding the head alone. Btw, a lot of toy parts these days are engineered to pop off at certain pressure. You can then put back the part with no probelm. This ensures that the toy parts to not break or get stress marks on the plastic easily. Quote

I believe that... on my second transformation of my Takara Prime, the backpack piece square just popped right off. Nearly gave me a heart attack, then I took a look at it and realized it comes off very easily and no damage or stress marks were on the toy. So I just popped it back on. Quote
mark-1s Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 Trust me, I did not hold it by its head! All i did was turn it slightly from side to side with little force, and POP! -off it went Fantastic peice otherwise. -1s. Quote

Yeah, the same thing happen to my Prime. I forgot to lift the two headlight hinged pieces away at the back before I open the backpack piece to stow his head. And it came off. Another piece that came off my Prime during transformation was his left foot - when I turned his foot and the connection at the ankle gave way. But that was no problem soon after I put it back on.
