GobotFool Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 HLJ has images of the Takara box up. And it beats the Hasbro packaging from the sheer fact that it's not total ass. Aside from that, it's rather blah. Takara's done better. Is that the actual box or is that an image of the intruction manual on HLJ? Quote
eriku Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 ...if that trailer turns out to be nothing more than a prop they used for the photo, and not offered for sale, I'm going on a killing spree. As for Hasbro's packaging, if it's the real deal, I can't believe they'd wrap up their best toy ever in such garbage. Not that I really care though, I'm not buying their version anyway. Quote
motley Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 its paper. the trailor that is. so it is a prop, but it may yet turn out to be a prop you can build yourself. Quote

trueblueeyes Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 its paper. the trailor that is. so it is a prop, but it may yet turn out to be a prop you can build yourself. paper? Yep! Well, cardboard to be more specific! Here's hoping that a "make-your-own-cardboard-trailer" is included in at least one of the releases. (Maybe the Takara one? ) And yes, it would be incredibly hokey.. but, hey...at least it would be a trailer to display with MP Prime! Melissa ( who is still hoping we get that possible rumoured Palisades trailer available for sale later! ) Quote
isamu_dyson Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 i'm discovered yep it's a cardboard trailer made for the photo. i found it a little small, but with plastic card and pvc you can make a beautifull trailer easily. i've found a model truck at TRU i'll take the tires and details and make my own Convoy trailer Quote
recon Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 (edited) Hate it when that happens. Sorry Cheers Edited November 22, 2003 by recon Quote
eriku Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 It's been confirmed that the paper trailer is part of the Takara packaging! http://adctalk.com/index.php?act=ST&f=42&t=1948905 Sure, a cardboard trailer isn't as cool as a real one, but it's better than nothing! I'll still try to make my own custom trailer though. Quote
isamu_dyson Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 not that bad it's a great idea anyway Quote
Hurricane29 Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 Damn, I got beat to disclosing that the trailer in the pic was paper. Quote
MrDisco Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 so now the question is who's going to cut up their MPC box? Quote
GobotFool Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 Whoah, a while back I suggested on a TFer board that the box should look like his trailor, talk about prophetic. Quote
91WhiskeyM6 Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 (edited) Is Op's scaled correct with these Alternators? Edit: Didn't know Prime had a video display on his left forearm! Cooooool! you can actually see Bumblebee crying about needing reinforcements ! Edited November 25, 2003 by 91WhiskeyM6 Quote
UN Spacy Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 Has the smokestack mish mash been cleared up? I wonder what the final word will be? I just recieved my preorder confirmation from HLJ.com, I sure hope Takara is keeping the long smokestacks (as they should be). I wanna know where the extra $25 is going........... Quote
ShadowerV2 Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 Ever occur to anyone that the stacks might be retractable?? That's what I was wondering. They retract in Robot mode but can be full length in Vehicle Quote
Veifwan Es Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 It's pretty clear to me now with this new round of pic that the Takara will indeed have the long 'stacks and no battle damage. I hate to see the people who are purchasing Hasbro loose out, but I think this is the way it's gonna be. Better packaging, no neutering, paper trailer.....definently worth the extra 25 to me That Hasbro packaging is a freakin' buzz-kill.... I need quality presentations! Quote
David Hingtgen Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 Retractable stacks comes up fairly often, but I bet they aren't because: 1. Why? They should be long in BOTH modes. Long in truck mode for realism/accuracy, and long in robot mode because that's how he's looked since 1984. 2. Sure don't look retractable to me. Quote
GDomino Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 GOD I can't wait to show this guy off when I get my preordered Tak version!!! Last time I anticipated a toy this much was the SOC Dancougar... but this could easily be my most aniticipated toy ever...for us used to spending $100+ usd to feed our toy-crack addictions, the detail, gimmicks, and decent price for a diecast toy this size (even Tak's more expensive version + shipping) is unbeatable. To me the extra $25 + shipping means (hopefully) longer smoke stacks and bragging rights for the first few months while everyone else is waiting for their Hasbro version to come out. I could care less about the cardboard trailer though. I think the cardboard trailer is lame and I can't see myself displaying this awesome piece with something so simple. Looking at it makes me want the real thing even more...Until Palisades or whoever releases one, I'll be displaying this behemoth of a toy in robot mode to show how big he is and all his engineering glory. I definitely need those long smokestacks though cos Prime just doesn't look right without em. Its a distinguishing character, along with the windshield, grill and tires, that shows Prime is a Semi-truck in his other form. Quote

Yeah I just realised after I went back a couple of pages and saw the posts. Your right though. They really don't look extendable. But it would be sweet if they were. Well... long or short if it doesn't fall apart I'll like it. Quote
