Ruthless moderators who don't like spoilers.

Oh, I spoilered my own text because I thought that was the etiquette here o_O I actually end up spoilering much of what I write.

Oh, and Alto's dad is a douche.

Alto's kind of a douche, too, come to think of it. o_O

He's actually not that likeable as a main character, he's less likeable than Shinji Ikari.

But apparently a lot more apt to do something than cry.

But Gendo Ikari is far cooler than that mushroomhead guy who's boning Grace.

22話 ノーザン・クロス (Northern Cross)

(NT)

People's hatred of the Vajra is growing by leaps and bounds, and even Alto and Luka cannot control their hatred. Moreover, a new weapon is being considered to utterly exterminate all Vajra. However, Ozma, who has been researching Leon's conspiracy, is beginning to see the real enemy behind all this.

For some reason after I read that part about their Hatred for the Vajra, I suddenly had a mental picture of Alto suddenly shouting to a T.V. Crew filming the devastation caused by the Vajra attack:

"I say... kill them all!"

Alto = Johnny Rico (Starship Troopers)

That's a very good point. I learned Japanese back in college so I'm not at native level by a long shot. I interpreted it as

Alto and Luca cannot control their hatred of the Vajra because they are fighter pilots, not PR folks, so it's more likely for them to get pissed off at the enemy than trying to sway popular opinion. Additionally, if you remember episode 14 & 17, Alto has bought into Temujin's line in episode 12 about the universe not being big enough for two species. So the plot line for Alto going down the path of xenocide has been laid for a while. Now how he overcomes this mistaken impression/hatred is likely to be a central plot point in the last part of the series.

Actually, I now think your interpretation is correct. I was just concentrating on the English translation, which was hard to parse because "their" could have been referring to either Alto & Luca, or to the general public (it was hard to tell from the context).

However, looking at the raw Japanese, they use "も" as in "アルトやルカも" which would imply "as well."

So Alto & Luca share the feelings that the general public feel. Which is unfortunate. Honestly, I think all this stuff with the Vajra is based on one giant misunderstanding, and that in the end, they'll all be friends.

I also think it´s Altos dad, rather than Michael who´ll croak, probably along with a good portion of other civilians, when the Vajra eggs hatch.

Michael still needs to resolve his stuff with Klan. Unless they both buy it, but I think Kawamori knows that irate Klan-fans would firebomb his house. And not with Fire Bomber songs. :p

Hmm, casualties in Macross Universe, let see

- Civilians getting blown up, decapitated, sucked into vacuum, vaporized by particle cannon, that will be 90% chance.

- Character getting "pineapple salad", "steaked", crushed by High-G, blasted by BFG, that would be 10% chance

^_^ .

Is there any news of

Galaxy making an appearance.

It depends. Do you want JUST the shirt, or do you you want your very own Megumi Nakajima to go with it?

I noticed May'n has just about copied Sheryl's hairstyle. Now I'm trying to figure out whether it's a good or bad thing that Megumi hasn't copied Ranka's.

EDIT:

Personally, I'd go for the Skull leader shirt in the sidebar on the right.

New issue of "Continue" magazine has a 40 page feature on 25 years of Macross.

I was expecting the magazine to be bigger (around A4), so I was surprised it's so small (A5). There are actually 42 pages on Macross, not counting the Megumi/Aya t-shirt ad. I did enjoy the interviews in the book though, especially Miyatake's and Mikimoto's. After all these years of Kawamori describing Macross as originally a dummy project not to be taken seriously (intended to make "Genociders" look good to the sponsors), Miyatake describes how much thought was actually put into it. As for Mikimoto, I like the fact that this interview he has something positive to say about his work on Macross instead of complaining how he's unhappy with a lot of his old drawings.

Man I wish these things were A. easier to read (or in my case readable) B. available where I live :p

offtopic: 1 more post Az, till the big 5k ;)

I bought the mag mainly for the Mikimoto interview, since it's been years since I've read one with him. Haven't actually gotten round to it yet though.

Also, yeah, the magazine is small, so 40 pages is really not that much... Though you get a whole lot more bang for your buck than with an individual issue of Macross Chronicle. I mean, 690 yen?? "Rockin' On" magazine is like 230 pages and it's only 650y.
