I can see Kawamori making him "disappear" and appear to be dead, just to turn Pineapple Salad on it's head...

:p

Also known as "The

Gamlin Fake-Out

"...

Sorry, but

Ozma dying next episode is perhaps the most likely outcome. Also, for character's development sake it seems there will be many Ranka/Ozma flashbacks next episode... another reason for Ozma going pineapple salad...

Bah! Bah, I say! This is Macross Frontier, not Gundam 00!

I think the TV shot was taken from an analogue broadcast; possibly one recorded on media that downgraded the quality (VHS, etc..) To my tired eyes, the BluRay shot looks like there is more detail than in the high vision broadcast - though, that could just be because the brightness and contrast have been turned way up.

Or that Satelight actually went back and clean up the visual quality of the show for the DVD. Adding in more effects and some such in the mix. Something I'm seeing more and more these days.

I'm not a TRUE FAN of anything, I just have my hobbies and interests. I try not to obsess in things. ^_^

So what the heck are they? :p

I think the best thing out of all of this is that we now know how to spell "Yack Deculture!" correctly.

There's a correct spelling of "Yakk"? What is it? And when-oh-when will we get the official romanization for "Debrandekan"? ^_^

If you really don't know I think you need to pay more attention.

I believe "Yack Deculture" translates to something like "What Deculture." The Yack Deculture edition of episode 1 of Frontier in specific is the entire Episode 1 with all the parts form Deculture edition and the broadcast edition all put together from the new DVD releases.

1.22G is.... well it means the file is 1.22 Gigabytes... That shouldn't have been that hard. :)

Ok, you guys are terrible. :p Yack is not how it's been spelled before so now that I know what you're talking about, it's all good. Also, it wasn't called the Yack Deculture edition, it was called the Deculture edition.

And no, 1.22G does not mean Gigabytes, that's GB. I do know about computers. :p

You guys really are obssessed. :)

The Deculture Edition was the first version of episode 1 aired, the Broadcast version was the one shown when the series started. Yack Deculture is those 2 combined into one so everything is there and nothing is cut out. It is something different from Deculture edition.

Sometimes GB seems to be shorted to G... I don't know why, I actually say GB myself, blame others.

You spelled obsessed wrong. :p

And you think Klan would approve?

Hmm... I'm a bridge bunny now.... I'm not quite sure what to think of that.

So, I got the Blu-ray of Frontier vol. 1, and it inspired me to play some of the Macross 7 box sets I have. I guess I never really moved the flap on the bottom (I keep the boxes in the plastic they came in) but I noticed the back of the box is entirely in English, with spellings of names like...

Gamrin Kizaki

who knew?

Yakku Dekerlchuun! The spellings are a little different...

I missed the Yak Deculture info. Has it been released for DL yet, if so what date so I can look for it on Tokyo Toshi B))

And MisaForever is probably more right than he knows :p;)

I'm usually relaxed when it comes to my Macross fandom, but I admit I can whinge hard core about the tech stuff. But hey, we all have our failings :)

Macross Frontier is doing well in japan :

The Japanese anime distributor Bandai Visual has announced that it shipped 45,000 Blu-ray Discs and 55,000 DVDs for the first volume of the Macross Frontier science-fiction anime series on Friday. That marks the highest Blu-ray Disc pressing among all Bandai Entertainment releases, including the Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell movies. It is also the first television anime series to ship simultaneously on both disc formats in Japan. The series takes place 50 years after the first Macross television series and revolves around a rookie pilot, the galaxy's latest pop idol, and an aspiring singer. The first issue of the biweekly Macross Chronicle magazine also shipped this Thursday.

Standard romanization:

ヤック := yakku.

Not on pronunciation: the standard dialect of Japanese tends to not pronounce (or significantly reduce the pronunciation) of the final u. Therefore, it will sound like "yakk". (Which is different from, but to the untrained ear, almost the same as the bovine, "yak".

Sorry, but shipped and purchased are two different things.

The good news is that there are multiple copies of the DVD in CD and DVD shops near me. Sadly, no Bluray. I feel like I live in the frikken countryside! Going to go out to the nearest Animate and check out what's there later today.
