RedWolf Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 The original SDF-2 would have been able to transform just like the SDF-1, but it was remodeled into the Megaroad-01 for the Large Scale Colonization project. The modular section design I take it? I plan to introduce another Macross in my fic. Since the Macross Canon isn't well cannon, the SDF-2 design could do well enough. Though I wonder by scaling that the SDF-2 is larger in both ship size and attacker mode than the NMC.

Gubaba Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I've never seen anything to indicate that this is true. Even the artwork looks as though the ship would not have been able to transform. Well...it depends on which version you're talking about. The original design of the SDF-2 from the Macross Perfect Memory book can, I think, transform (I can't remember right now if they actually SHOW it transformed or not...but it looks primarily like a larger scale SDF-1. However, that version was (as far as we know) never completed. Instead they redesinged it into the Flashback 2012 Megaroad...which, as you say, doesn't look like it can transform.

dreamweaver13 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 ok since you've been contaminated with alot of RT, the question was not meant for you. The question is intended for people who watched SDFM TV first without DYRL or RT contamination. Watched SDFM first. never hated minmay; i actually liked her character. a bit flighty, fickle and self-absorbed, maybe. but a lot of girls are actually like this, and i don't hate them. in fact, come the last episode, there's a certain regret at seeing a sad Minmay walking away, despite the fact that i liked how the triangle was resolved. and i know how it is to have the "great love that wasn't meant to be". That's basically what Minmay is in SDFM. Upon watching DYRL, i liked Minmay's character even more. In fact, if you watched DYRL first, it's actually hard to sympathize with Hikaru. Minmay didn't seem fickle. from the time she met and dated Hikaru, she's been constant with her feelings. she didn't flirt with anybody else, she didn't reject hikaru at any time. (now don't tell me Hikaru was merely being friendly to her... he hinted going inside a love hotel!). so she gets kidnapped by zentraedi while on her date with Hikaru, gets isolated from the fleet, and the very next thing she sees when she gets back? HIkaru and Misa have hooked up. and more than that, she even gets slapped by HIkaru just for hinting that she wants to be alone with him! i mean, looking at it from her perspective, Hikaru's quite the jerk. If you look at it from the perspective of the movie alone, that slap was definitely not deserved. but if you add minmay's behavior from the series, then maybe. if it's from robotech, then definitely. hehe. my theory: watch RT first: Minmay sucks! ewww. serves you right to lose the triangle! watch SDFM first: Minmay is nice. Misa deserves her man, but it sure is sad to see Minmay go... watch DYRL first: Minmay rules!! Hikaru, you jerk!
dreamweaver13 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 (edited) I'm pretty sure that it was animated at some point because I remember *seeing* it o_O That's odd, because I've only seen the RT ending of "the macross saga" once i'm pretty sure there isn't. if you watched RT as a kid, maybe your mind connected the dots somehow (after all, what kid's mind could actually take an entire beloved bridge crew being killed ignominously off-screen just like that??!). But if you do find it (probably a fan video), do tell. EDIT: Oh, and the scene was described with more detail (and with a little dialogue) in the McKinney novels. maybe that's what you remember. RedWolf Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Am I correct to assume that besides UN Spacy and the Protodevlin , the Supervision Army utilizes Super Dimensional energy canons, even perhaps the Birdman. Zentradi utilizes heavy convergence energy beams for their main guns. If Gravil is any indication Super Dimensional energy beams can be counteracted by Song energy.

Radd Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 If it can transform I suppose it will retract those spokes at the rear and have shorter arms in attacker mode. This is the version I am talking about. If you look at the centre white section, that's where most of the problems are. If the ship could transform, that section would have to remain as-is, which would just look weird.

If the ship could transform, that section would have to remain as-is, which would just look weird. I don't think they designed SDF-2 to be able to transform, besides the Storm Attacker mode of SDF-1 is made in order to connect the main gun with the OTEC reactor so there are no official design for transformable warship at that time. SDF-2 is just a human made gun destroyer with bigger size. The attached ARMD carrier is for increasing VF carrying capacity and not originally designed as 'arms' for the SFD class. New Macross Carrier IMO is the first human/zentreadi design of a variable warship centering around the Macross Cannon.

Not trying to start any fights, but that one sure transforms.
Morpheus Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 So what about the SDF-4? Not trying to start any fights, but that one sure transforms. SDF-4 Global is based upon SDF-1 circa 2012 and I'm sure its also incorporated the storm attacker mode. I you ever played Macross VO, there are two other SDF class that can undergo transformation. Safe to say that all the SDF production line (with exception SDF-2) are all capable of transformation. Whack me with jellyfish if I'm wrong
RedWolf Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 (edited) The Global was directly based on the Macross refit design or the DYRL design. SDF-1 refit/SDF-4 SDF-1 SDF-2 Edited September 1, 2008 by RedWolf
Gubaba Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Safe to say that all the SDF production line (with the possible exception of the SDF-2) are all capable of transformation. FIXED!
Sulendil Ang Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 You know, I always wondered how a 'cultured' Zentran will think about their uncultured counterpart, especially when they meet another Zentradi fleet. Does the shows explores such concept? And BTW, do a fleet of Zentradi makes any communication with another fleets? Cuz I'm curious if the other Zentradi knows of the fates of 118th Bodol Zer Main Fleet, and what they will do about it...
JB0 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 And BTW, do a fleet of Zentradi makes any communication with another fleets? Cuz I'm curious if the other Zentradi knows of the fates of 118th Bodol Zer Main Fleet, and what they will do about it... We actually don't know a whole lot about the zentradi. If the main fleets are in communication with each other, or reporting to a higher authority, or nomads wandering space looking for something to blow up, it's all speculation.

Does the shows explores such concept? And BTW, do a fleet of Zentradi makes any communication with another fleets? Cuz I'm curious if the other Zentradi knows of the fates of 118th Bodol Zer Main Fleet, and what they will do about it... Well that is explored in the PC Engine games Macross 2036 and Macross Eternal Love Song. In 2 consecutive years Vrlithwai had to deal with two Zentradi fleets Bodol Neld and Bodol Burado also a the Meltran fleet of Moruk Leplendis. All thanks to your friendly neighborhood Ally Backstabber Quamzin. But this is not set in the Shoji Kawamori timeline. The DYRL-Macross II universe. credit to Yoshi 2010 ~ 2036 - During this period, several Zentradi fleets attack, but they're repelled by the UN Spacy forces lead by Commander Britai, as well as by the shock caused by the the Minmay Attack. Development of the VF-1R Valkyrie equipped with the SP-II Super Pack. 2014 - Launch of the interstellar emigration ship SDF-2 Megaroad, escorted by VF-4 fighters. 2018 - Lott Sheen born. 2019 - Komilia Maria Jenius born. 2032 - Dr H. Tachikahof passes away. He was the father of the VF-1 and VF-1R series. 2036: The Super Dimension Fortress Macross 2036 - Maria Jenius and Lott Sheen underwent pilot training under Britai's supervision. Just before their graduation, a Zentradi fleet unaffected by the Minmay Attack invades the Solar System and engages the UN Spacy fleet. - Maria, Lott and the others cadets are allowed to fight in the light of the crisis. - Maria battles and defeats Quamzin Kravshera and his underlings Jinna and Grimzo. The infamous trio manage to survive and to flee. - The UN Spacy fleet defeats the so-called Neld Fleet - Maria Jenius and Lott Sheen promoted to the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Maria becomes commander of the Red Horns Squadron. 2037: The Super Dimension Fortress Macross ~ Eternal Love Song - Earth is under attack of the Zentradi Burado Fleet and of the Meltrandi Mokurendis Fleet. After an initial retreat, the UN Spacy launches a counterattack spear-headed by the Prometheus 2 taskforce. - The Meltrandi Mokurendis Fleet withdraws. - Meltrandi ace pilot Misty Klaus joins the UN Spacy with the rank of 2nd Lieutnenant - UN Spacy cadet Kiryû Hayato is promoted to the rank of Major, and appointed CAG of the Prometheus 2 ship. - Introduction of the VF-4 Siren, the "super" variant VF-4SP, and the funnels-equipped VF-4ST. - The UN Spacy main fleet and the Prometheus 2 launch a combined attack on the Burado Fleet. The UN Spacy launches the Minmay Attack (Ai oboete imasu ka) and defeats the Burado Fleet. 2040s Earth enjoys a relative peace. 2050s Development of civilian-use Valkyries (the so-called VC series) begins. 2051 Development of the VC-51. May 2054 - The Macross-class interstellar emigration ship "Million Star" is attacked by Zentradi rogues while cruising at 1.8 light-years from Earth. - To defend itself, mankind establish a defensive perimeter at Pluto's orbit. The Britai Fleet and the Minmay Attack plays a key role in this defensive perimeter. December 2054 - The Zentradi rogues enter the defensive perimeter. The UN Spacy repels the invaders but suffers terrible losses. - The Britai Fleet is decimated (both men and equipment) . - The UN Spacy captures a Zentradi factory satellite. 2060s - Development of the VF-XX series begins. 2072 - Roll-out of the first VF-2 series fighter. 2079 - Development of the VC-079. 2081 - Development of the VF-2SS (space-use variant of the VF-2 series) 2082 - A Zentradi fleet attacks Earth. The VF-2SS takes part to actual combat. 2086 - Development of the VF-2JA (atmosphere-use variant of the VF-2 series) And then Macross II... The series 80 years after the Space War One so probably 2089~2092. In the first episode, Sylvie says the latest Zentradi attack took place 10 years ago. If it's the 2082 invasion, then it would put Macross II around 2091~2092.

Master Dex Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Congrats. BOMBA!!! I hope I get a large red Bomba sign when I finish 7, I'm half way through the series but I am not disappointed with it (still not my favorite, but I do like it) and I like Fire Bomber music a lot now.
azrael Posted September 8, 2008 Author Posted September 8, 2008 Because I'm such a "nice" guy: Can somebody give me a summary of the following? 1. Macross English Anticipation Manga - What happens to Fire Bomber American and Lynn Kaifun? 2. Macross Generation - What happens to these characters? Especially the ones in bold. * Passero * Lisa * Rafale * Canari * Wolf * Ghana * Dusty 3. Macross Dynamite 7 Mylene Beat: What happened to Col. Barton and Mylene's lesbian producer he was working with? 4. Macross Digital Mission VF-X - What is the name of the Zentradi boss which is blown up Gorg Bodolzaa style?
RF-26AAC Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 (edited) Macross 7 question: Does Macross 7 have any female nudity or almost nudity or hyper-revealing attire? I want to watch the show around my overly-sensitive GF without getting killed. I discreetly edited out the Minmay shower scene from DYRL so I can watch the DYRL movie on my TV at home (not that Minmay's tatas added anything to the movie). I'm not even going to bother with Mac Zero cos I've already seen it all. On a decency scale, is it closer to SDF:M or Mac F? If nudity is restrained to one episode, I can just skip it or edit chunks out... I guess. I really appreciate the input. Best, RF-26 Edited September 8, 2008 by RF-26AAC

Best, RF-26 The second ending (episode 35 to 49, including Encore and The Galaxy's Calling Me) contains footage where you can see Mylene boobs (no nipples) and ass. But it's not like a full frontal nudity. It's more like a side nudity. So in my opinion, it's closer to SDFM. P.S.: Change girlfriend. Edited September 8, 2008 by Macross007
TheLoneWolf Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Does Macross 7 have any female nudity or almost nudity or hyper-revealing attire? I want to watch the show around my overly-sensitive GF without getting killed. Good question. It's been a while since I've watched the entire series, but I think it's 98% family friendly. I believe Sivil appears nude in a few scenes, but she's curled up in a fetal position so you don't see much. And Ivane Gyuntar appears topless, but instead of female breasts you see generic male pecs due to her physical transformation by Geperuniti. As for racy outfits, your girlfriend will definitely spot Rex's cleavage shots for the fanservice that it is, but that's it. Mylene's stage outfit does reveal quite a bit of her legs, but nothing less than a bikini would show. It's such a long series that I've probably missed a bunch, but I hope this helps.

Sivil while asleep is curled up nude for a couple of episodes. The second ED does show a nude Mylene. Again no nipples she point and shoots sideview. Pretty small in the boob dept. The second episode of Macross Dynamite 7 does show a nude alien loli. Not to metion attempted lesbian rape of Mylene. I've been looking at Macross 3D trailer and... This is VF-5000 right?

Master Dex Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 It worries me what people think is the perfect gf these days. Sounds like she'll be wearing the pants in this relationship. Large rack on a size 0 frame doesn't sound well proportioned, I don't think that would mean much to me, but each person has a different opinion on what is good. Far be it from me to say anything against someone about who they liked. Yeah I think you don't have to worry much about Macross 7 and nudity or anything. This should probably get back on topic, enough with talk about girlfriends and all that.
