sketchley
Errors that I noticed in this latest issue: mechanic DYRL UN 02a VF-1S: “launcher pod” - Copy and pasted the VF-11 MAXL Kai sheet, did we? ”Goods Sheet 08 Character Goods 01 Cosplay Apparel 2” - Should be “Goods Sheet 08 Character Goods 08 Cosplay Apparel 2”, as the preceding page is “Goods Sheet 08 Character Goods 08 Cosplay Apparel 2”! sketchley
Possibly. Though, given what the mistakes are, I think it's more a case of "hiding something in plain sight"; as in the editors "know" it's correct and ignore it from the very beginning. (I'm also thinking that this issue may have been put together at the same time as the New Years holiday, and parts of it were rushed - even some of the line-work on Hidetaka Tenjin's VF-1S looks sloppy. (the hand, in particular).

I don't really care, either. I have to say, none of the accessories really appealed to me except for the "I [heart] MINMAY" keychain. I really want to get my hands on one of those! Graham
yeah, I was wondering about the misnumbered cosplay apparel page. Annoyimg. Hope they correct it later.
Renato
I spotted another typo: The Varauta army page refers to the star system as both Varauta 3198XE and 3198EX. Can't remember which one is correct, though.
sharky
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but HLJ now has Macross Chronicle issues 1-14 and the binder. What I like about it is that I can get them shipped via SAL rather than EMS which takes longer but saves on cost. If you recall HMV seems to only ship these via EMS. So, this changes my whole price structure and I will probably get all the issues now. Edited February 3, 2009 by sharky
Gubaba
Chronicle #16 looks to be one of the most interesting yet.. And yes, Azrael, there's more VF-1 goodness, so bring a spoon...you'll want to catch every drop. Graham
Making Sheet * Shoji Kawamori Heh, maybe that will read something like this: "About 50 years ago momma Kawamori and papa Kawamori hugged very tightly and then papa Kawamori inserted his XXXXXX into XXXXXXX and 9 months later little Shoji was born". sketchley
It does, this latest issue (#15). It's not much, and is about the same amount and content as in previous releases of the MF space vessels. The making sheet will probably be a continuation of his biography (works between DYRL & M+/7 and/or up to the present) or about where the idea for (the) Valkyries comes from. Anyhow, regarding #15: The Macross 7 "transports" are the small (personal?) spacecraft occasionally seen parked in the background or used by the Varauta in the series. The VF-0S is a B sheet, highlighting the "Angel" version on the front, and the "Reactive Armour" on the reverse. Some new images of the "Angel" VF-0, but it's all CG... The history is of the raid to capture the factory satellite, battle with malcontent Zentraedi in Traddo city, and ends with the fight to get the resizing chamber. Next issue is... Kamjin's last battle/end of SDFM??? The history sheet (Zentraedi attack/raid?) has a cool main image - though I think the Regult is waaay out of scale. The worldguide sheet has me scratching my head. Shouldn't it have been a fold out page? The two page spread map of Island 1 deserves it! Regarding content, glancing at it, I think it's got double the number of things mentioned, but any one entry is less than half the text written about it in other publications... Regarding content, glancing at it, I think it's got double the number of things mentioned, but any one entry is less than half the text written about it in other publications... is it an overhead view like a tourist map, or perhaps not overhead but at least viewed within the shell? or is it just a blow up image of Island 1 from outer space like we've seen in other publications, save for the additional markers for more locations? As for the VF-1, I don't know if we'll get a B-page for the TV VF-1S, but I'm sure we will for the DYRL 1S. And then we will probably have a few pages for the TV VF-1A and at least two for the DYRL 1A. Then there's the VF-1D, the Armored VF-1, the Strike VF-1, the VE-1, and the VT-1. THEN we'll be done with the VF-1.

Kronnang Dunn
The term Atlita was created during a phase when I was attempting translations on my own. It's the best I could come up with based on the text from the Gold Book. I can certainly change it to something more correct if that helps, but who really knows which is correct? ATLITA = ATLANTIS? (Would explain lots of things...)

sketchley
Quickie review of the latest issue: VF-1a: what? Still no mention of the AMM-1 missiles?! Macross 7 Fleet's Escort ships: got translation dibs! Patrol Squad Mother Ship: nice to see this D7 design getting some more exposure. Glad that the Patrol boat is added. OTEC: just by looking at the images, I'm guessing that the text is more about the applications of OTEC... Making Sheet: 2 pages! Lots of rough SDF:M mecha art (nothing new if you have Perfect Memory). The interview looks promising (though it looks like it's more about the design process than the finished designs per se). Is that a give away VF-1a tawny? Coolness. Back cover has a nice VF-25 image. It's advertising for 2009.03.03 Macrss F x FamilyMart: http://www.famima.com/macross/ (for those that may be curious but won't get it in time). <- I don't think any of the promotions will be in any of the Family Mart stores outside of Japan.) sketchley
I came home, and by was I surprised when I opened the mail box: mail from Macross Chronicle! I was a bit worried that I mailed the mail-in in too late (you know, affix the small triangles from iss. 1~10, mail-in for a chance to win something). I didn't win something, but I got 4 groovy postcards. I'll try and take a piccy of them later.
