OmegaD3k Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 (edited) One of the many reasons why I love this episode is because you get to see, perhaps for the first time, a VF actually "emote" through body movement and various other gestures, as if the pilot were standing there in place of the VF. Bravo! Edited May 30, 2008 by OmegaD3k Quote

ma2ha3 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Yes. It's in the Zentradi-Japanese dictionary, and it means, "She of the bad temper and unbelievely large hooters." klan klan knocker is too extreme, i like big booby. but maybe that is a tack too much. it look like a porn star with multiple silicon implant. I really mean MULTIPLE. Too much.... i am sure in real situation she will not fit into the space suit. and red pixel robot whatever the name was. Quote
grss1982 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Oh, totally forgot, the flashbacks with Michel's sister show NUNS in existence going back around 10 years, atleast. Not to mention that the Sniper VF concept might have started with the VF-171. I had always assumed it was a concept introduced in the VF-25. Quote
Duke Togo Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 One other item - This didn't really come from anything specific in the episode so far as I can tell, but it did occur to me while watching the episode. I suspect that there really is a mutual "interest" between Mikhail and Clan Clan, but due to the obvious difficulties in actually doing anything about the relationship (due to Clan Clan's problem while micloned) nothing is likely to come about (presumeably humans can't actually be macloned like Max was in DYRL). Under this theory, Mikhail deals with the issue by a form of denial that causes him to chase women that are exactly the opposite of Clan Clan - i.e. the older women that it's been stated that he prefers. There is interest between Klan Klan and Michel because he has the blue valk and she has the red battle suit. Kawamori and Co. made their intentions pretty clear on this one. Quote
Duke Togo Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 No where has it been said that Michael is part Zentradi. He has the ears, and his sister had the ears... Quote
Morpheus Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Hmm, makes me want to put a red Vajra into microning chamber I wonder if the first battle scene the NUNS/SMS are protecting something like a cargo hauler or maybe a miner since we can see one of those thing dock with an asteroid. Quote
Duke Togo Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Fantastic episode. Great action. I think it was the usual animation studio (Nara?) on character art duties. The character art look fine to me. Perhaps a little rushed in a couple of scenes, but they definitely captured the established look of the chracters. Can't wait for the fansub. Graham My Bell Animation, I believe its Korean. Quote
Gubaba Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 The one thing that actually made me really happy (and I know there will be an angry mob after me for saying this) is that this episode lacked alot of Nanase! Am I the ONLY one that finds her annoying? No, read my signature. If you're against Nanase, then really...what are you for? Quote

Renato Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 (edited) Damn, double post. Anyway, I liked the episode except for two things, that gesturing vf, and the random Mikhail and Alto fisticuffs. Lame Luca. Oh, and I dunno why, but I really didn't care much about the whole sister backstory, I found it a bit boring. Overall, interesting developments all round, back on track after last week's pointlessness. PS - They FINALLY explained the whole Mikhail/Michel discrepancy, "Michel" is only used by people who are really close to him. Right when Alto screams at him to shoot at the VF-27, he says "Michel" for the very first time, which means he is forgiven and has been accepted as a "friend" by Alto. Gubaba Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Yes..... but that made no sense. Maybe it's Jetfire. As I said before, I'm surprised this hasn't gotten more Macrossworld hate. Valks with faces seem to make a lot of people here get very, very angry...but a Valk ACTING like a person is okay...? Where's the logic? Quote
Renato Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Where's the logic? Over at tfw2005.com? Anyway, that scene was so whacko that I was screaming "What?? Huh???" throughout the whole thing and missed all the dialogue. And I was starting to think "Well, I guess I can live with tha..." And then she slaps him AND THE ROBOT IS STUNNED, SHAKES ITS HEAD AND RUBS IT WITH HIS HAND. At that point I screamed "WHAAAAAT??!" All the way through the commercial break. Quote

In episode 7, Alto was capable of interfacing the VF with his Ex-gear to mimic body movements. I won't be surprise if Michel did the same during the exchange with Klan. Afterall I think the scene will look strange if Klan speaks to him in a manner like she is speaking to a statue/doll. A human-like body gesture from the VF reduces the communication barrier and awkwardness it brings between face to face talk afterall. Edited May 30, 2008 by SymphonicRain Quote

Legend of TSXer Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 If you're against Nanase, then really...what are you for? Who you questioning? Heron or myself? Or both? I think Heron is ANTI- B.O.I.N.G. (though I am not speaking for him) while I am just annoyed by the person B.O.I.N.G. supports. Nothing against B.O.I.N.G. itself, I just find Nanase annoying, but people in real world are also annoying so I guess she makes it more realistic. Only thing I do find good about Nanase is HOW MUCH they emphasize her big 'uns. Quote
grss1982 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Oh, and I'm almost certain the voice talking to Brera was NOT Grace. It sounded nothing like her, different VA. I'd like to point out though that Grace's VA is Kikuko Inoue. A very talented one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kikuko_Inoue Its a Nousjadeul-Ger, Zentradi battle suit. Renegade Zentraedi Fleet? I was hoping that they (Mikhail's Sis & C.O.) were fighting the Renegade Power Armour like the one Isamu fought in Macross Plus. IIRC, Isamu even managed to skewer one Renegade PA. PS > Brera/Kira Yamato's skills sucks as usual. he just depends on the equipment. kinda let down by brera's crappy skills this ep. doesn't seem too difficult to defeat him Just you wait when he starts re-programming the O.S. of his VF-27 ala Strike Gundam from Gundam Seed. mike_s_6 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 The acting Valk scene was indeed awkward, especially when it held its head. I don't mind it acting out some actions, but the idea that it was slapped on the head and it acted as if it felt the slap was weird. Perhaps Mikhail was shaken inside the Valk but I suppose he wouldn't be shaken enough to act like that! Plus, I'd like to see how Mikhail looks like from inside when he's controlling the Valk to act like that. Or is this something mental? At least he didn't get a real slap from a someone that huge, he would have been swatted like a fly. Quote
MisaForever Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Well, if he had his ex-gear on and was about to get slapped in the face, the normal reaction would be for someone to raise their arms up so his arm movements were mimicked by the Valk. Just my thoughts. Quote

Ok, this whole series just increased by 20 fold. She also did the voice for Miria in Claymore, which is WAY different than the voice she used for Belldandy. I think she might be voicing the mysterious superior of "Kira Yamato," but it is'nt actually Grace O' Connor character. Bill C. Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 In retrospect: I'm okay with Mikhail animating his VF while talking to Klan. Even if it did seem a bit "talk to the hand"-ish. It's mainly the head bit and that whole "What?" thing he did with it after she slapped the virtual taste out of its mouth... Quote
grss1982 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 (edited) BTW, why I think this is Alto-Hime's final VF-25, since its "SMS007" jut like the one in the OP: http://randomc.animeblogger.net/image/Macr...0Large%2015.jpg So In guess he wont be blowing up any VF-25 anymore. junior Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 (edited) BTW, why I think this is Alto-Hime's final VF-25, since its "SMS007" jut like the one in the OP: I noticed the number. Does this mean that he's secretly James Bond? With regards to VF-25 movements, they actually happen twice in the episode. Immediately after the accident early in the episode, Alto uses his VF-25 to shake his fist at Mikhail. That makes sense, though, since Alto is emphasizing how upset he is. The incident between Mikhail and Clan presumeably involves, as others have mentioned, Mikhail setting his VF-25 to mimic his body movements, much as Alto does with Luca's fighter in episode 7. The reason he might do this is because he's apparently goofing around during his comments to Clan, and the movements might be an attempt to emphasize his silliness. To me, the movements of his VF-25 appear exagerated when compared to how you might normally expect to see someone act, which emphasizes to me that it really is just him goofing around. After the slap, it could be that he's not holding his head because physically felt the slap, but rather because he has his head in his hand (inside the cockpit, and thus duplicated by his VF-25 since he has it hooked up to mimic his movements) as he tries to figure out exactly why Clan got ticked off at him. Does anyone have a DOB on Clan Clan? She looks younger than her "teenage" form in the still in which Mikhail is playing in her swing. Edited May 30, 2008 by junior Quote
MisaForever Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Does anyone have a DOB on Clan Clan? She looks younger than her "teenage" form in the still in which Mikhail is playing in her swing. Hmm... honestly I thought that the flashback pic of her and Mikael looked younger than she is now although I could be wrong. But understand, there is a problem with her when she micronizes that causes her to become a child again even though she's the same person. Quote
Mr March Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 cyde01 Yeah, the machinations are just driving me nuts. I'm still hooked on the "internal faction" theory. I'm not ready to write off Leon, but perhaps his involvement is only incidental. Perhaps he's being used by Mr Bilrer. At any rate, it's clear there are plenty of holes in internal NUNS security. There's plenty of unauthoried movement going on and plenty of players are involved. Grace sure seems to be much more than she was before and now the Macross Galaxy connection is starting to make sense. I'm getting the impression either the Vajra are deliberate enemies possibly made by the Macross Galaxy fleet or an experiment gone wrong that the Macross Galaxy fleet is trying desperately to cover up lest their cybernetic experiments be shown as going too far (hence, they risk being deemed illegal and shut down?) d3v besides, this is Macross and MAcross has enver had a tradition of new mecha dominating simply due to technological superiority. I agree. The technological disparity between modern fighters is not going to be some broad difference that creates an invulnerable super machine. Macross has always accurately portrayed the differences in performance parity as just that. Even the initially "invulnerable" Vajra were found to be not quite so invulnerable. Quote
Zinjo Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I think the enemy in Jessica's friendly fire incident was deliberately left vague to be flashbacked to later. I think their is much more to that incident than we are being shown at the moment and that the suicide was not one at all. If the incident took place 4 years prior I suspect they had the VF-171 by that point as a special forces fighter before it was adopted as a front line fighter later (they could have been 17's, but we can't really be sure from the footage). The reason why Klan smacked Michel's valk was because I expect that she's been carrying a torch for him for a while and he just hasn't noticed. Which is demonstrated by why he didn't understand her reaction to "his" joke... The egg ship is definitely giving me an Alien IV vibe. I suspect that there is indeed a cold war going on to some extent, or perhaps this is the birth of it, with one side trying to get an advantage over the other with Vajra technology. The VF-27 reminds me of a hybrid design between the VF-4 and SV-51 with the beam cannons on the engine nacelles. The beam gunpod/micro-SD Cannon definitely gives it a formidable weapon.c As for the question about the VF-26, there wasn't one, I suspect. Kawamori has taken to skipping a number to assign it to the prototypes. The VF-25 had a YF-24 and I'd expect the VF-27 had a YF-26... Quote

Episode 9 VF-25: Well, we know there's a possibility of getting a new op during midway of the series. So there's still a chance Alto might have his VF changed/upgraded. I think the enemy in Jessica's friendly fire incident was deliberately left vague to be flashbacked to later. I think their is much more to that incident than we are being shown at the moment and that the suicide was not one at all. Personally, I thought Michel was simply trying to find the answer what went through his sister's mind when she pulled the trigger. He wasn't trying to solve a conspiracy at all, nor does he perceive her death as one. Edited May 30, 2008 by SymphonicRain Quote
