nemesis_trooper Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Yes, but as Azrael has pointed out numerous times, many people fail to read. my bad! cldn't bring myself to scroll through 10 pgs! Was thinking tho, the VF-27 was directly behind the asteroid (which in all likelihood would not make much of a barrier given its small size...and if i recall correctly most asteroids are spongelike or not dense and maybe mainly ice), it should have taken some damage from that beam blast.... Quote
junior Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 (edited) Wasn't it already established that the shot from the Q-Rea hit an asteroid? It's hard to tell without a still, as Brera's right next to the asteroid, and the camera's zoomed out when the shot hits making it difficult to be certain which of the two Clan hit. But the debris certainly looks like chunks of the asteroid. And something established at one point in the thread tends to once again be a topic of discussion five pages later when people have quit reading what came before. it should have taken some damage from that beam blast.... His craft gets shaken from proximity to the explosion. You can see it in the brief shot of his cockpit when he's annoyed for a bit instead of his usual smug self. But apparently it wasn't enough to do any real damage to his VF. Edited May 31, 2008 by junior Quote
ma2ha3 Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Nice to see people slagging off at each other more and more about sexuality in this forum. Taksraven we will not be talking about it, if the maker of this anime target audience are wholesome kids, but actually young adult to old adult. they put all these things in, so we talk about it. green squirrel in fresh panties, sheryl nude in concert, sheryl half naked in emergency shelter, klan klan huge knockers after conversion and shower in school with blur glass to trigger the imagination. ma2ha3 Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Don't look now. *groan* There always has to be one. Taksraven did anyone notice that on episode 7, there is also 1 who are disappointed i mean who can be disappointed with 7? can we find out who is this burger and boot him out, cause he is not a macross fan at all. he did it once, and do it again. Come out, you loser, explain yourself. Quote
Sergorn Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Good episode. We finally learn more about Mikhail's past (though I guess... It's supposed to be Michel Blanc and not Mikhail Buran now ) and it's pretty neat. The action was very cool too. The more I think of it, the more I feel the Vajra must be a Galaxy experiment gone wrong of something among those lines. However - what the hell happend with the art here ? The 3D was as great a ever... but the 2D art really felt subpar this episode, and not juste for a couple of shots here and there. Oh well bring on episode 10 anyway ^^ -Sergorn Quote

stray Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Hate to rain on Chihiro's parade, but i wasn't super impressed with their subs for ep. 9. Might've been the episode to some degree, but cursing aside, they seemed disjointed and kind of hard to read. I'm in the process of downloading the gg now, hopefully they fare better. Quote
Duke Togo Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 The Galaxy is said to have launched several years before the Frontier, which I believe launched in 2046 or 2047. And we know the first attack by the Vajra occurred 19 years prior (2040). Even if you put the Galaxy launching around 2040, just how far could it have gotten and how much work could it have done to lead to these attacks on other fleets? Still, the launch date was left vague at the opening of episode 7, who is to say this wasn't on purpose? Or perhaps I've been watching too much Battlestar Galactica, and I am looking for secrets in everything... Quote

Sorata Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 (edited) Man GGs version is taking forever to download! Took me less than 9 minutes. for the 1920x1080 version Edit: Turns out that till yesterday my router had a problem with it and I was getting less than 1/2 my full download speeds, now that I replaced it speeds of 473 kb/s and higher to 6mb are common on torrents, to bad it cost me a new $60 router and a 40 minutes tech support call, but hey my intenet company was cool about it and tested my lines and figured out my problem was the router, they even tweeked my lines so I always get my max speeds I pay for now if not higher than i am suppossed to, since the tech guy tweeked it he felt bad he never checked the line more than once after setting up with my new provider and didnt realize I was getting 2mb below the acceptable limit the company sets for the service plan i got for over three months. Good thing i found it out by accident checking the speed tester they provide on their sit and it listed what was acceptable and not. Edited May 31, 2008 by Sorata Quote
d3v Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Took me less than 9 minutes. for the 1920x1080 version 1 hour left for me. Still, already have Chihiro's version, but the subbing makes me want to go all grammar nazi and whatnot. Quote

ComicKaze Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I'm sad to see Gattai go on the subs. GG are speedsubbers and the translation was kind of bad. When they were talking about how water was scarce, instead of saying that the Vajra was the cause of scarcity, they said the Vajra was the source of POVERTY? Huh? Quote

ComicKaze Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 did anyone seen the size of that ship with varja eggs? it was huge, a small hole on it side, have many large and small varja coming out, how can purple one destroy such a big ship with one small gun. that amaze me. Remember the first Vajra's main cannon destroyed an entire crusier with one shot in episode 1 (and then mysteriously was never that powerful again) Quote
Fade Rathnik Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Doesn't anyone else find it suspicious that the nest was on a Guantanamo class carrier? Yes, yes I do. But I bet it was from the 117th. After watching that commercial about Sheryl I'm in the boat that she climbs into a vf-25 later in the series. Although I think SK is going to try to redeem himself some and make her a pilot not a flying concert. My vote is she gets the SMS-007 (especialy after seeing her in the red trimed suit) and Alto gets bumped up by dead mans shoes or Alto is the doomed pilot in this series and she goes for blood, that would be 2 dead pilots for unit 7, talk about a bad rep for a fighter. All the same man I would not want to get in her way if she was in a VF and knew how to use it. Quote
ComicKaze Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 (edited) Well I guess this whole series is going to be more filled with conspiracies. So now we have military, para-military, civilian contractors, secret governments, secret government sponsored ops, etc. all working together and against each other...Heck, maybe the whole thing is just a human power struggle and inspired by Aliens...ie: "The Company" trying to make money off developing weapons from aliens or experimenting (Vajra). Maybe there is some kind of arms race going on and Macross Galaxy is actually owned and operated by General Galaxy and Shinsei Industries is trying to kill them off for good hahaha! Perhaps Michael was able to do all those gestures because Shinsei stole the Brain Direct Control system from General Galaxy Of course, it's only used for making Valkyries do funny gestures and give them the ability to dance because combat use will still drive pilots insane. ComicKaze Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 If it were, would it matter? Almost sounds like New Frontier. Yes, in the spinoff anime, Sheryl's career will nosedive and she'll try to drown herself only to be saved by a wandering bum. That bum then teaches her how to play real instruments and become a real musician rather than just a singer as they work towards the Super Dimensional Concert as she moves toward a comeback in disguise. Sheryl wins the concert but sadly, the bum reveals himself to be Basara who dies immediately after her encore. Quote
Impreszive Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Ok. I liked the ep. I had one major problem with it though.... The end of it. What the hell was up with the 27's gun? That's a might bit ridiculous. Quote

It's not ridiculous at all when you remember how the Vajra in episode one destroys a fully powered crusier (that isn't just a derelict) with one shot from it's gun. Strangely, it never fires this gun again or do the same ridiculous damage. Quote
taksraven Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Oh, I forgot. The other bit of the episode I really liked was Alto's flashback sepia image of his father beating him up. That backstory needs to be explored some more (and I'm sure it will be). Child abuse, as disgusting as it is, can lead to some conflicts of Shakespearean proportions. It also makes the story more grounded in the real world. And very dark too. There was sooooooooooo much going on in this episode. I also think that the way that they show the glowing eyes looking out of the egg, then cut back to the frontier with Ranka's three eyed friend looking around and then cut back to the yellow Vajra is space is no coincidence.
