Graham Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 As long as Hollyweird is plundering the 80s' for ideas, they should do an Airwolf remake, but they gotta keep the cool theme tune. Quote
Mog Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 (edited) ^^Maybe they can sober up Jan-Michael Vincent enough to make a cameo, or cast him as the new Archangel. Edited July 12, 2009 by Mog Quote

Salamander Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Heck, maybe they could let Michael Bay direct it. Since the main character (sort of...) is an advanced secret US military prototype helicopter blowing up bad guys it might escape relatively unbutchered. Also, they should totally release a Thunder in Paradise (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunder_in_paradise) movie Quote

Ghost Train Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I got an awesome idea. Let's make a multi-series crossover with Airwolf, Blue Thunder, Kitt (&Karr), The Thunder boat, Viper (lol anyone remember that show?), and the whole cast of Baywatch .... as an added plus all the vehicles battle evil drug dealers and can combine into a giant robot when needed. Nah, they'll probably still butcher it by pronouncing "St. John" as "Saint John" rather than "Sinjun." Speaking of which, who the frak names their sons Stringfellow and St. John? Quote

Speaking of which, who the frak names their sons Stringfellow and St. John? I'd always though that was just his wing name, that everyone just used as he was used to it in an airmed forces sort of way. Al la Kara Thrace being called Starbuck by most every one most of the time. I think that M Bay making an Airwolf remake would work since the script writing would be easy since all his films have Helicopter blowing shite up, plenty of Slooooooow mo fly past opertunities as well. electric indigo Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 (edited) Speaking of fly-bys and 'sploding stuff, the remake of Dam Busters is off the ground again. It also seems that Tron 2.0 was not canned, but practical shooting nears completion. Take a look at the director's portfolio here: http://www.josephkosinski.com/main.html Cool stuff, but far from visionary. He will also helm the "Run, Logan, Run" remake - is it that these young directors are only there to work off the marketing guy's checklist? Edited July 15, 2009 by electric indigo Quote
Mercurial Morpheus Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I've read a couple of the novels by Doyle, and I know that Holmes isn't supposed to be a wallflower, quite to the contrary, but you'd have to see the trailer to understand where I'm coming from I guess. It doesn't feel at all like a Sherlock Holmes movie from the trailer to me, it looked like Simon & Simon go to England and learn to be ultimate fighters. i know what you mean. When I first saw the trailer, I shouted out, "Says who?" when the title came up. Looks like a semi-amusing movie, but certainly not a Holmes. Though I suspect that's what they were going for. Quote
taksraven Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 (edited) Remake of the classic Gerry Anderson series UFO is on the way...... I dunno. big F Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 (edited) I dunno. I love the original show heaps, even with its flaws, but I have concerns that a remake could , as usual, stuff things up....... I guess that the new Hollywood way of thinking is. 1. Dream up really good script for remake or totally new idea. 2. Hire A listers to play parts based on looks and role. 3. Dumb down script due to budget and making sure the movie apeals to a wider audience. 4. Get rid of A list script writers and A list actor types. 5. Chuck old script out and write new one with lots of pointless product placement and add in slo-mos and un-needed padding. 6. Cut parts of the film to make it shorter as audiences have short attention spans, thus making film full of continuity errors and WTF moments. 7. Publish and spend more on advertising than you make back. 8. After mediorcre reviews and takings, plan sequel. 9. Got to 2, but bring back bad guy who so obviously was dead and add to the script. 10. Buy dead horse and whip 11. Repeat until bored or bankrupt. Edited July 29, 2009 by big F Quote
Alex Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I see that they are now considering a "NIMH" remake. http://movieblips.dailyradar.com/story/nim...ation_in_works/ I really don't feel that this needs a remake, although the shift to magic in the first movie did annoy me. taksraven Posted August 3, 2009 Author Posted August 3, 2009 Do musicals count in this madness? They usually don't deviate from the originals unless they reinterpret it in a different context. They probably don't count, to be honest, but I find it interesting that since the success of Chicago, studio's have been falling over themselves to churn out musicals. A few years before Chicago they wanted to get a musical of RENT made, but the studio did not want to spend any money on it so the project was canned. After Chicago, the RENT film gets made, funny, eh. And we've already had the unneccesary Hairspray remake. Taksraven Quote

reddsun1 Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Agreed, the cartoon sucked major ass, not that I have much faith in a remake either. I didn't think SoN was so bad--it's one I remember fondly from childhood. True, in retrospect the whole 'magic' angle leaves a lot to be desired in the way of relevence. But I doubt it's all that critical to the target audience [kids, probably 12 and under?]. Mind you, I've not read the book; so I'm not aware of all its 'deficiencies.' I even got a copy on DVD for my daughter. I much prefer that to the absolute shi*stain drivel that is Nickelodeon and Disney channel in comparison. I'm so godda*n sick and tired of the utter drooling stupidity that is Spongebob Squarepants, I could put a bullet in the TV whenever it comes on. I've forbidden my daughter to watch it in fact--although, kids being kids, I imagine she does anyway. I swear to Christ, I think some of that crap lowers your IQ with continuous exposure. God knows I'm encouraging her to pick up a book and read as much as possible as an alternative... Quote

I've forbidden my daughter to watch it in fact--although, kids being kids, I imagine she does anyway. Absolutely in agreement again. I dunno what the attraction is for Spongebob. It's not funny, not entertaining and in general is very stupid. God knows I'm encouraging her to pick up a book and read as much as possible as an alternative... Don't worry, chances are when your daughter does decide to pick up a book, it will probably be some drivel like the Twilight series, just like my daughter. When I was 15, I was picking up and reading books like Nineteen Eighty-Four and loving it, despite the fact that it was bleak, sad and with an incredibly depressing ending. Many kids, then and now, cannot cope with negativity in a story or a negative ending. Taksraven Quote

It's not funny, not entertaining and in general is very stupid. (I think that there is a thing that you could call "good" stupid, but this is not it) It funny for about 5 mins and then you just think OMGFFS or sober up Don't worry, chances are when your daughter does decide to pick up a book, it will probably be some drivel like the Twilight series, just like my daughter. When I was 15, I was picking up and reading books like Nineteen Eighty-Four and loving it, despite the fact that it was bleak, sad and with an incredibly depressing ending. Many kids, then and now, cannot cope with negativity in a story or a negative ending. Yeah the rot started in 1983 with The Empire Strike Back after that all kids films had to have a happy ending or children would be all upset and their parents might sue. Even ROTS has a happy ending despite the Sith taking over the senate and the Clone troops whooping ass all over the know universe, the good guys mostly all escape and all have smiles on their faces. Book reading was my childhood, go see a film then read the book and wonder WTF the directors were thinking when they butchered the great story. Jurassic Park for example was majorly tweaked just to get a kid friendly sequel or two. Basically books can convey the feeling much better than a film can in 2 hours. Quote
