Recently picked up Bandai 1/55 Strike Valkyrie. In great shape except that there's a bit of rust on the metal hinges. Anyone have a good way of dealing with this, or preventing it from getting worse? Thanks!

If you've been able to take it off, the best way to keep it from getting there is to simply keep it in low or no damp areas, and spots where the moisture is minimal. If you haven't take the rust off yet, you can try some metal polish with a light abrasive. I've heard, but never tried a liquid called CLR that you can find in stores. But don't quote me on that one, as I have yet to try it.

Thanks for the tip on CLR, though I'm a bit worried about trying it, given how strong it seems. Would it damage the rest of the metal as well, I wonder. I'll definitely look into the metal polish. Thanks again.

I used a bit of metal polish and some Scotchbrite and then sealed it in a light coat of Future. Rust free after a couple of years. :)

Well they are zinc plated zytel and although its cheaply done it does polish up well and if you seal it it stays that way. It tarnishes in a matter of days. it really is cheap crap metal, but widely used in the toy markets, lesney matchbox springs to mind.
