I use Bo-shots, or just use the snapshot feature on the VLC player.

BTW, is it just me or Canaria is not alone in that Konig Monster. I heard someone saying a something when the Monster transform. The original Monster destroid have 3 pilot, so Canaria maybe have 2 other co-pilot.

AM guessing she's solo on the Monster since it's a more advanced version of the original. but that's just me :p

Wasn't it a solo deal in VF-X2 as well...?

Yup that brings back memories and all I can say it's hard as hell to use use the main guns, although back in VFX-2 the arm launchers just fire heavy rockets and not reactive warheads :p

Yeah...I was thinking of 重量 ("weight") with 子 as a suffix...thus, "Heavy particle."

Damn this stuff is tricky sometimes...

i have to ask, but won't it be easier to jsut use the english translation that was displayed WITH the chinese characters instead?

Episode 07 walk-thru

hope to be helpful in helping u guys understand what's happening.

[my comments in square brackets]

Klan Klan teases Michel asks him not to cry if he doesn't see her (?not sure if i got it right). Michel seems to be a cry-baby when he was younger [might be referring to an upcoming episode i guess... ep08?

Regarding Klan Klan's apparent comment...

Minor spoiler regarding a plot point in an upcoming episode (based on the brief episode summaries at wiki)

Apparently Michel has an older sister who will be a plot point in an upcoming episode. Klan Klan's comment may be a reference to her. From the context of the summary it's possible that she's on Galaxy (apparently Grace will be providing some information on her), though I don't have anything to base that on.

Hmmm... from the preview seems like Ranka is already starting at Alto's school (although I kind of preferred the orignal white unifrom she was wearing :p). Anyone think that the Galaxy and Frontier fleets will link up? I'm guessing there's a high probability since from what we saw a good deal of it's escort fleet got thrashed. (I'm basing this off from the preview since Sheryl still got time to goof off in an EX suit instead of getting ready to go back to the Galaxy :))

Looked more to me like it was a silly anime convention of THEY ALL GOTO SCHOOL TOGETHER NOW (including Sheryl!!!)

That was such a "MAIN CHARACTER CALLS OUT SPECIAL MOVE" and red kanji in blood appears before the attack scene.

yea, so very SUPER-ROBOTish... hmmm macross bridging the gap here huh...

I went with Birla for the cultural connection to the Vajra after I corrected my mistake in the first ep, heh.

interesting. please tell what's the connection between Birla and Indian/hindu names?

Ranka grabbing her now-very-famous "protrution".

really weird. should we expect a true 3-way threesome between alto x ranka x sheryl?

as for the Sheryl's earrings, Brera's hairpins, and Mr Birla's ring... all these accessories... there's some connection there. so does Ranka has something similar? something she's wearing with that dress at the concert? Girdle? (chastity) belt? or maybe a strap-on (explains the stiff object)... seriously...

ahh... because the version we have is very blurry - couldn't read the english words clearly. not like the hi-res pic posted by Morph ;)

yeah, actually i think its in ep09 friendly fire - not ep08 i remmebered wrongly. the upcoming episode summaries for ep07-10 was mentioned in the NEWS thread.

I hope Kresphy is okay it is not like him not to have graced us with screen caps. Hopefully the net is just wonky cause of the quake. On subject thought MQ is one of the most hardcore battle ships ever and Bobby is just as hardcore.

yeah, hope he's ok. maybbe one of the mods can check his IP, see if its anywhere near the epicenter of quake (Sichuan?). or does anyone visit or know his nick at his chinese forum?

A very weird way to draw a fold IMO  it's either a mistake in the drawing or.... I shudder at the alternative  (baby vajra??)

hmmm ALIENS?

BTW, did anyone mention the MQ is 400meters? as pointed out by the Captain.

Btw...

I noticed that Ranka's belly glowed when she started to sing. At the same time Sheryl's earring also glowed when she started singing too & the one in Alto's cockpit shined too (what caused the Vajra Carrier to glow & stopped/slowed the small type Vajra)...

Macross 7/Zero connection there?

I'd say that they are trying to illustrate something like spiritia again. At the belly, there resides your hara, and it is at this one point where all your ki or internal energy comes from. This is one of the philosophies of eastern martial arts.

Pulled the RAW off of Veoh, practically 20 minutes of space battle can be enjoyed no matter how much you understand whats being said (however I'm pulling the subs once they're out, I really wish I knew more of what was being said.)

Konig Monster == <3. The Monster Destroid was one of my absolute all-time favorites, and every time I see it in a film or game it makes me almost giddy with joy, never knew much about the Konig Monster, was afraid it would be a dumbed down version (being more mobile and all)... I'd have to say the devastation (not to mention the destruction of the armored plating it was using for bracing) was quite up to what I hoped for. :D

I'm kind of torn with the Macross Quarter's main weapon, I was expecting the shoulder cannons... I'm not sure how I feel about a held cannon, nor flipping around a good chunk of the ship like that (the launching platform), clean up of now-liquefied crew members has to be kind of messy.

So ironically, Bobby Margot is one of the few characters that actually can truly be considered "gar".

What is good is that he drops that gay persona when things get serious. The true depth of his character comes to life then. I thought he was just that annoying character in the background, but that is not the case.

So can anyone clarify whether or not the city ship of Galaxy was destroyed? from Shun's summary, i take it that the ship the Vajra destroyed wasnt the colony ship.

Anyway, this really was the ultimate action episode. The slower pace episodes previous really built this up well. Usually a really good episodes will only have 1 or 2 'Super-Awesome-O' moments. This episode is packed with 'HOLY CRAP' moments. And i am thinking right now that Brere maybe Ranka's brother, but lest hope they are more original than that.

So, anyone think that the technology developed and used on Galaxy could lead to the re-introduction of the BDS and BDI systems that they scrapped after Guld had severe side effects. Seems to me cybernetics could really perfect the technology.

I am curious about the fate of Macross Galaxy Colony Ship. If Sheryl still remains at Frontier in Episode 8, I am guessing Macross Galaxy Colony Ship is either destroyed or at least heavily damaged making it uninhabitable for the time being. The VF-27 may not be the Vajra as it does not appear to want to kill any NUNS / S.M.S. attackers.

The VF-27 also appears to be faster and more agile than the VF-25, even without any boosters. If Brera is the enemy, Alto would need a better VF than the VF-25 to go toe to toe with the VF-27 !

OMFG THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!!

spoiler rule has expired, right? ok!

mecha mayhem at its finest!! sugoi sugoi sugoi desu ne!!!!!! everything a mecha fan wants, everything a macross fan wants!!

and it's settled. macross quarter is wicked! Quarter pounder indeed! i will no longer complain about the name. it moves like a frickin battroid. wow. :)

bobby margot, you da MAN!! no kidding, he really became a MAN when the quarter pounder turned battroid.

my god the anticipation for action was awesome. altough i knew it was coming, it still brought chills up my spine when the shield was prepping for transformation. and to finally hear the captain say: "Trans-for-ma-tion!". wow. here i am giddy just from remembering the episode. :)

sheryl's sudden hesitation was really touching (never mind that it was like minmei refusing to sing in the final episodes of SDFM), ranka's realization that alto and ozma were off fighting was likewise touching.

and what about that Konig Monster!! whoo. and ozma doing the eye-tracking. and the new fighter and pilot (is it really labeled as VF 27?).

and as for richard bilra... no, he's not admiral rick hunter! hehe. he's vritai!! haha. :)

i'm looking for a friend with the biggest tv screen. and i'm watching this episode on his TV!! never mind if i have to bring buckets of beer and pizza, this episode deserves a bitchin' tv screen!!!

What are the posibilities that Ranka is related to Brera Sterne ? Both of them know the tune to Aimo, maybe Brera is Ranka's long lost brother !

At this point the spoiler notice should be over. :)

Few mod notes

-I have delisted the Shinsen raw (MP4). No seeders and it's incomplete so I can't verify the authenticity.

Uh, its complete, and I was seeding it all night. Last check (this morning) it had over 200 seeders. :)

nope, that is definitely NOT the M-Galaxy that was destroyed by the vajra carrier. Kaitos was the ship that was blown up. We still do not have any idea where/how is the M-Galaxy at this time.

Kaitos

http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/3175/denebkaitosaye3.jpg

strange - the kaitos looks different? color (it was orangy last ep) and shape.

Now the Dulfim is orange in color and looks much more like the Kaitos from last ep. I suspect this could be a confusion by the animators.

Another thing is - why did the vajra capture Luca? There must be something they want? doesn't make sense since so far, we've only seen vajra kill people...

After re-watching, it seems like the fold fault was what caused Kaitos to take so much time to escape (need to get to a clear area to fold), but the vajra carrier seems to fold thru the fault without problems. Could this be due to an advanced fold technology - aka the fold reactor found by Luca?

Lastly, Magical Girl Sheryl for u pervs :p

So, what do we all think? Did the Galaxy survive? Was the VF-27 trying to help Luca and Alto escape, or was he shooting at them?

No clue on the first, maybe there is something in the dialog, and the second is really kinda fuzzy. Brera shoots the gun out of the hand of Luca's VF-25, but I'm not sure if he did it because he's a hostile. I kinda get the feeling that they are from some undisclosed third party, who will probably be hostile at first, but end up joining the good guys by the end of the series (they always do in Macross, don't they?).

yup no idea on how is the M-Galaxy. My guess is that the survivors do not know the answer as well, probably everybody got lost amidst the confusion and messed up communications, so the M-Galaxy will be officially "missing", perhaps only to turn up later (like the M5? ).

it really looks like Brera wasn't really hostile - he could've killed Alto & Luca if he wanted to. The hammerheads inside the vajra carrier were probably shot down by Brera, so there's a possibility of a 3-way war here :). And the vf-27 is way faster than vf-25!! Brera was behind Alto but he got into the carrier first, kills those hammerheads, and hides(?) behind the pillar near Luca. Firepower was way above that of the vf-25...

I think the Vajra have either captured or destroyed the main Galaxy colony ship.

In the Gattai sub of episode # 6 at 09.20, you see the recording of the transmission from the Galaxy captain(?) and in the Gattai sub he says:

"The damn bugs have taken Mainland! Please! Someone!"

At first I thought this was a translation error by Gattai, as they are AFAIK, the only fansub group to use the word "Mainland" in this scene, but then I listened closely, just concentrating on what the character is saying and he clearly says "Mainland" in English.

I'm guessing that Mainland is the name of the main colny ship in the Galaxy fleet.

Hello all - loved this episode so much, just had to sign up and comment.

Like most here - got my long overdue fix of mecha pr0n for the week.

Hope the Galaxy survived - the intro of this episode just really pumps up my curiosity as to that ship and the inhabitants therein.

I think Brera was aiding Alto and Luca - just enough so that they can escape on their own. The shooting of the gun may have just been a precaution to make sure Alto doesn't start shooting at Brera. Or maybe it was a little dig at the Frontier crew just to start up a little rivalry. If Brera wanted them dead, I'm sure they would have been dead with that one shot.

I think we may see more of a connection with Brera and Ranka. If memory serves me correctly, at end of the first episode (television broadcast version) during the closing piece you hear Brera's harmonica accompany Ranka's Aimo song at the very end. Read into that what you will...

ZOMG you guys, Ranka does not have a "bump" under her dress, she obviously grabbed the front causing it to fold. I noticed it the first time I watched it. :p Stop getting all riled up about it.

Another thing that has me wondering, what was Dick Vilrer doing with his ring? Can't say he was just fidgeting, unless the director was trying to show us that hey, this guy wears jewelry made out of that mysterious purple stone, too (which is a possibility). Did he call in the VF-27's with his ring, or were they really just wanting us to see the purple stone?

Questions, questions!

You have to say wrinkle, 'cause fold makes me think she had something growing inside of her that "folded" away.

As somebody else suggested earlier, the ring is probably some sort of implant control, like Grace's pendant.

As to what he was doing with it......hmmmmm?
