Hikuro Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Not a whole lot of what we haven't seen already, but still, good stuff. Quote
Project Phoenix Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Sweet! Finally I understood why they name it Messiah. It has to do with the song Shao Pai Long. The VF-171 was deployed as the NUNS mainline fighter back in 2058. The new destroid is called Destroid Work. It is not armed but this type is equipped with manipulators for delicate work. It seems to me Luca can command Ghost fighters as well. The wording could remotely command like attack pods/bits. Interesting feature for the RVF-25. So there are two new vessels for the fleet: Stealth Frigate and Stealth Cruiser in addition to the Uraga and Maizuru-class ships. Quote

Mr March Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 So there are two new vessels for the fleet: Stealth Frigate and Stealth Cruiser in addition to the Uraga and Maizuru-class ships. The Maizuru-Class would be the only truly "NEW" ship in the fleet. That must be the big grey fella with all the cannon turrets; the one that got "blowed up" by the Vajra in episode 1. The other ships are just variants (with a few new features/altered colors) of the UN ships we've seen in Macross Plus and Macross 7: Bolognese Class Stealth Frigate Guantanamo Class Stealth Carrier Uraga Class Escort Battle Carrier Quote
baronv Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Thanks for the scan, can't wait to see the VB-6 Monster show up. Quote
valk1j Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Nice we finally get to see the battroids from the back, better shots of the heads, awesome stuff. Quote
Shun Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I assume you can read Japanese and that these are actual facts? yes, he's right. those are directly from the text in the pictures. although the "new" types of spaceships are actually slight modifications to older designs like what Mr March said. "Macross Quarter" is a new type of spaceship compacted to 1/4 the size of Macross-class battleship, and is similar in size with the common carriers, and used by SMS. (was this mentioned before? about it being 1/4 Macross-size? lol.... another 25th anniversary thingy... 25% or 1/4 ) "Messiah" is from the lyrics of the song Shao Pai Long. (IMHO... yucks... cheesy name ) Quote
Batou Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Messiah? It's called the Messiah? Release Brian! He's NOT the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy! Quote
Renato Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 So there are two new vessels for the fleet: Stealth Frigate and Stealth Cruiser in addition to the Uraga and Maizuru-class ships. Wasn't the Stealth Frigate the ship in which Max launched the Varauta counterattack in Mac7? Quote
Zinjo Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Sweet! Finally I understood why they name it Messiah. It has to do with the song Shao Pai Long. I love it! Quite cute, though I suspect that is why it's only a nick-name and not the final name. Maybe Kawamori was hoping for a much more definitive name to actually givie it. The VF-171 was deployed as the NUNS mainline fighter back in 2058. Well that changes things a bit, since the VF-171 is only 1 year into its tenure as a frontline fighter, it makes one wonder what the final role of the VF-25 will ultimately be. Possibly after its trials, it may get bumped up to special forces fighter. It seems to me Luca can command Ghost fighters as well. The wording could remotely command like attack pods/bits. Interesting feature for the RVF-25. Definitely a nod to Mac II's Auto Attacker Bits (or Squires), however a plausible combat role for the RVF-25. The Macross Quarter is a pretty cool idea when one thinks about it. 1/4 the size with the same firepower as a full blown Macross Class carrier! A battlecarrier internally docked within a colony ship to assist in any defensive encounters. Can you say "learned from the City 7 incident."? In knew you could... Now if we can only get full translations of the captions from our Japanese literate members so Marchysan can update his friggin site... Any help gentlemen, would be enourmously appreciated... Quote
vermillion01 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I'd like to know what that scan says about the "YF-24"! its in there.... and also, call me crazy, but now with the name "messiah", the first thing that entered my head weas the ship from the movie Deep Impact (awful i know), but i got to thinking, and from behind, the two ships do share some similarities in engine placement. or maybe i've been awake too long and my pain meds are messin with my head Quote
Aegis! Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Nice we finally get to see the battroids from the back, better shots of the heads, awesome stuff. yeah, like I said in the other thread, I personally don't like the look of the wings on Battroid, pretty awkward fold design, not very aesthetically pleasing or practical either. dreamweaver13 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Wow, these are great!! thanks for the post! Messiah? It's called the Messiah? Release Brian! But they'd have to welease woger first. Quote
Shun Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 (edited) I'd like to know what that scan says about the "YF-24"! VF-25 Messiah In the year 2059, it is a candidate for the next generation of main NUNS fighters. The latest variable fighter design is based on the prototype YF-24, and independently developed by Frontier's L.A.I (<--- no idea what's this?). However, it is not deployed by the NUNS, but thru political transactions/dealings with the manufacturer, SMS gets to deploy it first. Standard equipment includes the gunpod, head laser machine guns and a large-sized knife for close combat. PS > i dont like the look of the vf-25's back but i guess it was designed to accommodate the strike/armored pack in battlroid mode? Edited May 8, 2008 by Shun Quote
Graham Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Thanks paper! Although it should be pointed out that Kresphy also posted scans of the new Newtype in the Frontier news thread 4 hours before paper did. Graham Quote

Project Phoenix Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 (edited) The Maizuru-Class would be the only truly "NEW" ship in the fleet. That must be the big grey fella with all the cannon turrets; the one that got "blowed up" by the Vajra in episode 1. The other ships are just variants (with a few new features/altered colors) of the UN ships we've seen in Macross Plus and Macross 7: Bolognese Class Stealth Frigate Guantanamo Class Stealth Carrier Uraga Class Escort Battle Carrier I'm not sure if the Maizuru is the only new vessel here. The text did not refer the carrier as a stealth carrier or anything. It just named it Maizuru in kanji and it is the same for the escort carrier Uraga. I remember seeing the Maizuru/Guantanamo in Mac7 so speculate away folks. The description of the Maizuru says that it is part of the warship complement of Frontier and it is a develpment of the ARMD type space carriers. It seems to be a popular vessel in the NUNS and it has 4 catapults. I made a mistake when I said the Stealth Frigate is a new vessel. The only new vessel I gather here aside from the Macross Quarter would be the Stealth Cruiser. After looking at the Stealth Frigate again I realize it was the angle playing with my eyes and the frigate is just a recolored and refit version of the Bolognese Class. I say refit because you can see turrets as opposed to the original version which has none or none that I can see. Again, this is based on my observation over the years. I could be wrong. I believe there will be another Macross Frontier which is the titular warship of the anime aside from the Quarter. In other words, we might see some large scale Macross cannon pr0n sometime before the series end. I can't wait! As for the Vajra, first contact with them were made around 2040. The New UN government had been keeping it quiet since. Edited May 8, 2008 by Project Phoenix Quote
Mr March Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Well, I saw a name that I did not recognize at first and figured that was the name for the "Stealth Cruiser". The Maizuru is actually the name of a Guantanamo Class ship according to the Macross Compendium: Guantánamo (CV 299), Macross 7 Fleet, docked with Sunnyflower Maizuru (CV/ARMD 362), Macross 7 Fleet Mamoi (375), Macross 7 Fleet, destroyed July 2045. I guess we'll have to wait for more information on the new grey stealth cruiser ship. Quote

That must be the big grey fella with all the cannon turrets; the one that got "blowed up" by the Vajra in episode 1. "Blowed up" is putting it mildly. A capital ship taken out with one shot from what is essentially a fighter sized (but probably not fighter classed) vessel. What was even funnier was the other capital vessel behind it (Not sure, maybe I can be helped on this) being turned into a fruitloop by an alien blast then blowing up. It basically means that unless other ships have got REALLY good shields, I think we shall see some more easy destruction of fleets in the future. Taksraven Quote

Project Phoenix Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I just remembered something. Since Pin Point Barriers exist, why don't we see it installed on the fleet vessels? We see that it can be installed on valks in Mac+, unless it is cost prohibitive and putting them on so many warships is just unreasonable on the economy. Or, they do exist for Frontier's escorts and the Red Lobster's cannon was just too powerful. Quote

Or, they do exist for Frontier's escorts and the Red Lobster's cannon was just too powerful. There's a scene in the Deculture edition that was missing from the regular broadcast version of Frontier that shows that the Frontier itself has several pinpoint barriers on it. Another brief scene that was missing has the Frontier's captain ordering the shields up. I would assume if the Frontier has several pinpoint barriers, the other ships in the fleet most likely have them as well. Quote
