eugimon Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 You're forgetting Anders. Seems to be more of a reflex than controlled anything. But you bring about an interesting point. First him now Tory. btw those that remember did she really do anything important before this? She's just been a background character since now right? Chowy - it's 5 year plan. Big difference. I don't think Boomer's attempt to gain power is going to be amusing though. Mog - Everybody knows Gaeta gets the shaft. Always. yeah, that's what I meant, that with Torry it was more of a true acknowledgement of what she was.
Duke Togo Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 yeah, that's what I meant, that with Torry it was more of a true acknowledgment of what she was. Its not what she is, but who she truly is. Cylon or not, the final five are who they are. She air locked Cally to save her own ass, and for no other reason than that. Its not Cylon programming, some switch wasn't flipped in her. Deep down, its the kind of person the character really is.
kaiotheforsaken Posted April 19, 2008 Author Posted April 19, 2008 (edited) Tory was basically the architect of Roslin's plan to steal the election. She also was the one who brought the pictures of the human members of the NCP to Laura's attention. She's hardly worthless. Cally on the other hand, will not be missed. I don't think Tory's motivations are purely self preserving. Otherwise she would have just let Cally kill herself. I think Nick is a big factor here, not even because he's a hybrid (though this is just as important) but because of Chief. Galen doesn't do well with negative events that impact him on a personal level. If he had lost his son to boot, he may very well have killed himself. Tory could have been trying to preserve the 4/5, protect a hybrid child or even protect Chief to a degree. Cally would have killed herself regardless, she didn't alert anyone to her findings. If she had gone down to that Viper tube by herself, I serious doubt Tory would have bothered to intervene. Edited April 19, 2008 by kaiotheforsaken
Duke Togo Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Protect the child, protect the chief, maybe she even wants him for herself. But these are her desires, her needs, not some Cylon programming.
Alpha OTS Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 I'm late, but I decided to pick up one of those Titanium Battlestars, so it's pretty much ebay or bust. I noticed there's an exclusive comic-con stealth version, that to me looks more tv accurate, but is it? Also found this while browsing for Galactica pics: Poor toaster.

But these are her desires, her needs, not some Cylon programming. you're just arguing semantics, what she is is inextricably tied into who she is. She's always been ruthless but it's the acknowledgement of her cylonness that allowed allowed her to slap/throw callie five to ten feet.

She's always been ruthless but it's the acknowledgement of her cylonness that allowed allowed her to slap/throw callie five to ten feet. I'm not arguing semantics, I'm talking about who she is. She killed Cally because that is who her character is. The Chief is a Cylon too, and he wouldn't of blown his wife out into space. The fact that the final four are Cylons is *almost* totally irrelevant to who they are as people.

I'm kind of getting that vibe, too. Its like, when they found out what they really were, they all thought they would totally change. But it seems tat they've actually become a clearer representation of who they always were.

I noticed there's an exclusive comic-con stealth version, that to me looks more tv accurate, but is it? The stealth version is black....very black. Galactica itself is substantially lighter than the stealth titanium one. If you're looking for something closer to accurate, the normal version is the way to go. They are neat little ships, but the more accurate the better. On the flip side of that, you can buy the 3 pack from Hasbro directly online for like 20 bucks, comes with stealth Galactica, a Raptor and and a Viper MK II. The MK II is easily the best of the bunch. It has superior paint app and tampo printing compared to it's single packaged counterpart (which is a pain in the ass to find anyway). Here's a link to the store Alpha: http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/ProductsByBra...=20488&PG=1 20 bucks, 3 ships, comic con coloring for the Galactica and the better paint app on the MK II. It's one I just picked up and seems like the best deal. On ebay I see individual ships selling for $15+ Edited April 19, 2008 by kaiotheforsaken
azrael Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Cylon civil war.... "This has all happened before and will happen again." Anybody got the feeling that the Centurians and Raiders are scheming something?
kaiotheforsaken Posted April 19, 2008 Author Posted April 19, 2008 I'm not sure the Raiders are capable of scheming much. 99.9% of the time they are referred to as pets or at least having the intelligence of your basic household dog. I'm not sure they could plan an uprising, the Centurions...possibly. We are already seeing the beginning of the Cylon civil war between the models. I'm not sure splintering it further into additional factions is needed. Also, the Centurions and lets say the raiders too, since you brought it up, would wipe the floor with the humanoid models. Cylons don't appear to have firearms aboard, and while Basestars are a force to be reckoned with, they don't seem particularly adept in destroying small vessels (such as Raiders).

Whenever I think of the Galactica, I think of it in those darker colors and the google images I was looking at looked darker too. Might be because of how they light the shots whenever the Galactica's in a skirmish. Kind of hard to pass up that set though. Going to order it now. Thanks.
Wes Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Tory was basically the architect of Roslin's plan to steal the election. She also was the one who brought the pictures of the human members of the NCP to Laura's attention. I don't recall her being the 'architect' or anything, but you bring up an interesting point. Who I remember actually switching ballots was Tigh, and he locked Roslin up in a cell. Of course he didn't really like Baltar either but still? And then who was doing all the resistance stuff? Tigh, Tyrol, and Anders. Plus what you've said Tory too. It seems like even though they don't care for each other they've been on the same wavelength for awhile. I don't think that Gaeta was in the "Last Supper" pic could he be a candidate by this type of association? Who else are good ones to consider? Cylon civil war.... "This has all happened before and will happen again." Anybody got the feeling that the Centurians and Raiders are scheming something? I think we're all thinking that. Wondering why Moore took forever to address this elephant in the room.
azrael Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 I think we're all thinking that. Wondering why Moore took forever to address this elephant in the room. 12 colonies of man (12 Cylon skinjobs). The 13th colony (the fleet) heading toward Earth. When that Centurion was wiping the blood off the wall, there seem to be some resentment in it's movements. The original Cylon models were "pets" of the Colonies before they rebelled.
the white drew carey Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 12 colonies of man (12 Cylon skinjobs). The 13th colony (the fleet) heading toward Earth. Yeah, I alluded to that before.
the white drew carey Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Yeah, I alluded to that before. Wait, I forgot this part...
kaiotheforsaken Posted April 20, 2008 Author Posted April 20, 2008 (edited) I don't recall her being the 'architect' or anything, but you bring up an interesting point. Tory says "there is always back up plan for victory." Gets on the horn to Tigh, says something to confirm the plan is a go. Tigh gives the nod to Dee who actually does the swap. I suppose it was just implied this was Tory's idea. She is the one who first suggests it to the President. Alpha, you're very welcome. That is tough to pass up. I'm still trolling ebay and a few other places to see if decently priced Mark VII Viper show up. Also alpha here's probably the best two examples I have on hand of the canon Galactica color scheme: http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/kai...galactica-1.jpg and http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/kai...r_galactica.jpg Edited April 20, 2008 by kaiotheforsaken
Mr March Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 OMG! They killed Cally! Awesome episode. That was such a tragic end for her character. She was under such stress and was going insane. She ultimately couldn't go through with it herself, so Tory just gave a push. Spooky! The civil war between the Cylons is really heating up. You just knew Number One was plotting to retaliate. The big fleet battle was pretty quick, but effective in showing the scope of the betrayal. Still, Number Six's Godfather-esque massacre was still the best Smile This season is going strong so far. I've loved all three episodes. Bring on number four!
cobywan Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Nobody has mentioned the interesting "Star" in the center of Starbuck's new painting. Does anyone here remember what happened to Apollo in the original series at the conclusion of the Count Iblis story arc?
ly000001 Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 If only they are smart enough to give us a Human/Cylon vs Clyon battle a la Human/Zentradi vs Zentradi! If it means putting Grace Park in Minmay's dress from the end of DYRL...
the white drew carey Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 If it means putting Grace Park in Minmay's dress from the end of DYRL... mmm... Or Doc Cottle, even!

Does anyone here remember what happened to Apollo in the original series at the conclusion of the Count Iblis story arc? I think know what you're referring to and unless this show gets a whole lot more metaphysical or they introduce them like...next week, I think they'd have a hard time building a convincing story arch to reveal them.
baronv Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 I was actually looking into Cally hitting the airlock button herself with the baby in tow and that the teasers last week showing Torie doing it was just a ruse.
Wes Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 I was actually looking into Cally hitting the airlock button herself with the baby in tow and that the teasers last week showing Torie doing it was just a ruse. I saw it alittle different. I first I thought they were showing Cally hitting it on Torie and her own baby. Took me a couple of tries to see it was Torie hitting it though
dreamweaver13 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 If only they are smart enough to give us a Human/Cylon vs Clyon battle a la Human/Zentradi vs Zentradi! "We are considered infected by your humanity. We will protect you while you take out the cylon mothership. we will protect human culture!" hahaha. now where have i heard that before?
dreamweaver13 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 (edited) poor cally... i loved her character. and here i was trying to build up arguments for the "Cally is the Finaly Cylon" website that i was planning to put up. oh well, i guess that idea is out the airlock. haha. in any case, at least her character lasted this long. from what i heard, she was going to be killed off as early as the prison ship uprising. so all in all, not a bad run for specialist cally. Edited April 24, 2008 by dreamweaver13
kaiotheforsaken Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 With Cally gone, my hated characters list is actually empty. Unlike say...Kat or Ellen, they didn't redeem Cally in the end. She really was about to a pretty despicable thing. I was glad to see her ass airlocked.
chowyunskinny Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 my buddy sent me this website that explains the Last Supper picture is like one of those Mad Magazine fold in pictures and that it reveals the final cylon *read the speculation at your own risk* The BSG code - The Last Cylon
kaiotheforsaken Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 That is probably the most interesting article I've read on that image period. Thanks for the link.
Knight26 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Very interesting article, we'll have to see how correct they are.
Wes Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 It's good for having that hybrid quote if nothing else. I've totally did got get all of that the first time.
kaiotheforsaken Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 Wes, here's a page with full hybrid transcripts http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Hybrid_utterances. It is missing the one from this season, but it has all the others.
Skullsixx Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Man...after that article, I feel a bit enlightened.
Fatalist Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 BSG is on RIGHT NOW on SciFi as well as streaming on the web! Who's watching?
