Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Anyone know who the guitarist is for Sheryl Nome's songs? The instrumental towards the end is excellent. Her songs are great, though I think Ranka is actually the better singer.

Her songs are great, though I think Ranka is actually the better singer. My best guess is Tsuneo Imahori. He often works as the guitarist to Yoko Kanno. He's the composer of the OSTs of Trigun, Gungrave and Hajime no Ippo. You might remember him with those lengthy, intricate guitar solos in Ghost in the Shell:SAC. He rocks.

vanpang Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Damn, how did that happened ? I though there be more folks watching since it is the Golden Week ?
Bill C. Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Is the timeslot that horrible? Are there not enough breasts for the Japanese audience?
Sulendil Ang Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Well, maybe it can explain some of the negative votes on the episode 7 discussion thread.

Looks like the show's ratings will be holding steady at around 2.0% for this forseeable half of this season. It couldn't even climb to your reasonable estimates of 2.5% for this action packed episode, let alone my wildly hopeful 2.8% - 3.0%. Things may change in the next half of the season but it's probably safe to assume the next 5 episodes leading to the of this first half of the season is going to hover just around that 2.0% mark. And I'm being optimistic. Something is seriously awry here. Edited May 20, 2008 by Strumvogel
Duke Togo Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Something is seriously awry here. Perhaps a 2 AM timeslot?
MisaForever Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Sounds like Macross Frontier is having the same luck that GOOD sci-fi shows did on the Sci-Fi channel.
Strumvogel Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 That didn't seem to affect the ratings for episode 2 & 4. The only saving grace is that it's not that far from Code Geass, and that show is on an anime afternoon primetime slot. A Sunday one, but still....

The only saving grace is that it's not that far from Code Geass, and that show is on an anime afternoon primetime slot. A Sunday one, but still.... But still, its during a time when people are awake. I am still wondering if Japan counts DVR recordings toward ratings, we don't in the US.
Gubaba Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 I think the DVD sales will be more important than the ratings, anyway. And once the DVDs start coming out, all the Johji-Come-Latelys might start watching the broadcast...
wolfx Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Perhaps a 2 AM timeslot? Or bad quality episodes? *runs*
Lindem Herz Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Sounds like Macross Frontier is having the same luck that GOOD sci-fi shows did on the Sci-Fi channel. GALACTICAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! But, then again, isn't Frontier selling stuff anyway. Last time I checked in CDJapan, the first pressing of the OST 1 was gone, and that was on preorders alone.
Duke Togo Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 I think the DVD sales will be more important than the ratings, anyway. Very true.
Twoducks Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Is the timeslot that horrible? Are there not enough breasts for the Japanese audience? Must be there isn't enough lolicon. I can see it now: "Next week on MF: 20+ minutes of Ranka naked" ratings= off the scale
MisaForever Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 GALACTICAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! But, then again, isn't Frontier selling stuff anyway. Last time I checked in CDJapan, the first pressing of the OST 1 was gone, and that was on preorders alone. I won't watch Galacitca as I hear it's full of depression and dread.
Gubaba Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 I won't watch Galacitca as I hear it's full of depression and dread. Then watch the old Galactica...no depression or dread, just pure and utter lameness. I really DO want to see what the pre-orders are like for Frontier Vol. 1...I think including the "Yakk Deculture Edition" is a wise choice on Big West's part, and should help boost the sales.
azrael Posted May 20, 2008 Author Posted May 20, 2008 DVD sales are very important because it represents hard sales numbers. We should be pleased that Vol. 1 Blu-Ray is currently #17 on Amazon Japan's Top 100 DVD best sellers (while Code Gease R2 vol. 1 Blu-Ray is 99). Ratings may not break the 2.0% mark much since the kids are back in school. Things might pick up in summer.
Zinjo Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Then watch the old Galactica...no depression or dread, just pure and utter lameness. I really DO want to see what the pre-orders are like for Frontier Vol. 1...I think including the "Yakk Deculture Edition" is a wise choice on Big West's part, and should help boost the sales. If they truly want to boost sales they'll announce an English subtitle track for all their bluray releases. Then they'll see a sudden increase in pre-orders from foreign countries...
Strumvogel Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 The Blu-Ray Mac Frontier's pre-order is leaps and bounds ahead of the normal DVD version as well according to another amazon.jp rankings I saw. Conclusion: That's a lot of PS3 there. I'm doing my bit for the hard sales number and have a pre-order but for the DVD version. I'm not keen on messing about with the possible region-lock that may or may not be on certain blu-rays discs.
