Morpheus Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 It's only free for shipping within Japan. (Are you in Japan right now? That'd be great ) I just pre-ordered mine, they said it should be available around 4th June, I got free shipping for items above 1,500 yen. Now I must convince my wife so I can pay it, she's furious enough when I bought the Revoltech yesterday without telling her
Project Phoenix Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 So what is so special about the OST CD first press other than having a poster?

Mr March Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Since episode 7 is the real attraction for action fans, I wonder how improved the ratings will be. It'll be interesting to keep an eye on them.
Strumvogel Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 I predict episode 7 will bump it up to 2.7, and do even better on episode 8 possibily breaking the 3.0 ceiling. Anything than to have it lingering so low. It deserves better.
Westlo Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 I predict episode 7 will bump it up to 2.7, and do even better on episode 8 possibily breaking the 3.0 ceiling. Anything than to have it lingering so low. It deserves better. If it follows the SEED pattern of action episodes being the higher ratingf ones than 8 will drop again. Ignoring the first episode which probably had very low ratings due to Deculture being available for 3 months the two highest ratings episodes are 2 and 4 which have had the most action after the first. Episode 6: 2.0% Episode 5: 1.9% Episode 4: 2.6% Episode 3: 2.3% Episode 2: 2.7% Episode 1: 1.1% I'm guessing 2.5% for 7 and 2.1% for 8.
Mr March Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 Well I must say that if episode 7 doesn't pull in the ratings, then nothing will. I hope episode 7 does well because it deserves nothing less. WOW!
Strumvogel Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 I'm guessing 2.5% for 7 and 2.1% for 8. After seeing the previews to episode 8, I'm going to have to agree with you there. It's going to drop back to the low 2.0% range for 8.

Duke Togo Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 Credit goes to Kronnang Dunn for digging this up: From the Macross Compendium... "Howard Glass is the president of the New U.N. and administrative director of the Macross Frontier fleet. He carries the authority and bears the responsibility of the political decisions in various situations of space travel to keep civilian lives safe...". This is certainly the first I've heard about this on MW.
Morpheus Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 Credit goes to Kronnang Dunn for digging this up: This is certainly the first I've heard about this on MW. So NUNS is the frontier itself? Are we talking about a splinter colony fleet here? That would explain why they used VF-171 and VF-25.
Heron Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 So NUNS is the frontier itself? Are we talking about a splinter colony fleet here? That would explain why they used VF-171 and VF-25. Or the Macross Frontier is the "Main Fleet" of the Colonial Fleets and as such, is the home of the New UN Spacy.
Mr March Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 (edited) Sounds like Macross Frontier is the seat of government for the whole New United Nations Government. Or, perhaps it could be like an Air-Force One kind of situation, where it's just the President and the rest of the government is elsewhere. You know, I just had a funny thought about all this. When I think about it, most NON-Macross fans probably just would have accepted the President as the President of this fictional society. But for some reason, most of us fans (myself included) didn't really make the connection even though it was staring us right in the face. Then again, maybe we were all thrown by the translation "Frontier Presidency" since it can be a rather ambiguous title (a Presidency for just the Frontier fleet or the Frontier fleet hosting the Presidency of the UNG?). Either way, I guess we now know that Glass is the big cheese after all. It's almost surreal that after all the Macross shows, we've never actually seen or met any part of the executive branch of the UNG. We've seen mayors and many high level military staff, but never a prime minister, president, vice president, defense minister, senator or anything else until Macross Frontier. Perhaps I'm forgetting the appearance of some such minor characters, but I can't recall any such occurrence in a past Macross show. Edited May 17, 2008 by Mr March
Project Phoenix Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 I think it's because Macross is less of a political show than a mecha porn and love triangle drama. This is confusing. If Howard Glass is the president of the NUNS, when does he make his pastoral visits to the other fleets?
Mr March Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 I'm sure the President has his own ship. Sheryl traveled to Frontier in a transport. I'm sure the President has one as well, plus his own escort.

That's the only one I can think of, though. All of the other officials that we see are high ranking members of the military.
Mr March Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 I knew the fellow escorting Global in the limousine was a UN government representative, but I don't recall a title.

Way too much of a coincidence.
MisaForever Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 My God, you could cut the speculation/assumptions in here with a plastic knife Can't we just take what we know so far and go with that until we learn more?
Gubaba Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 (edited) iirc, the government official with Gloval in episode one of Macross was a senator. That's the only one I can think of, though. All of the other officials that we see are high ranking members of the military. He was a senator in Robotech...in Macross, he was just a generic politician. EDIT: and, @ Misaforever: I'll take speculation about Howard Glass's role over speculation that the Vajara are actually sent by the Supervision Army to destroy Anima Spirita any day... Phil K Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 I do find it weird that Howard Glass would be the president for all of NUN and the head of state of Frontier. It would seem to be a conflict of interest. Not to mention that the seat of power for the old UN was always on Earth.
Mr March Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 Ah, my thanks Gubaba. I was almost certain he was a rather undefined gentlemen, aside from his generous proportions around the midsection

It would seem to be a conflict of interest. Not to mention that the seat of power for the old UN was always on Earth. It could be that the president is chosen from the heads of the various fleets and/or colonies (including Earth in the latter, though it's technically not a colony). We need to know more about the workings of the NUN, and what exactly prompted the switch from the UN.
