azrael Posted April 10, 2008 Author Posted April 10, 2008 Mod notes: Asking when a raw or fansub will be released is a no-no and very annoying. Random Curiousity's (which is linked in the first post) blog is a very good indicator of when a raw is released and we have plenty of people watching torrent sites for both raw and sub releases. If you are that impatient, go help out the raw providers or fansubbers. If you are not patient enough for that, move to Japan and watch it on TV when it comes out. Quote

I was reminded of scenes in SDF:M, DYRL, M0, and Firebomber was even heard playing in the background at one point. From the images that Krespy's added, it should be apparent that they changed the ending animation - the song is also different from last weeks. The opening - it cuts straight into a brief recap right after the flyby of the M25 colony ship. Ergo, no more colony ships spreading across the galaxy shot. Quote

In fact, the Nya-nya eyecatch is gone. I'm tempted to add more... but as I have a thing against spoilers (plus I'm having a bit of trouble sorting things out. It was a bit of Macross overload ) But I will say this, the highlight was seeing Reveal hidden contents Ozama punching Alto in the face! Bwahahahahah! There's also a VF sniper rifle. Ozama using the VF knife (!) on one of the Vajra - very bloody. Ranka exhibiting some kind of power that has an effect on the Vajra. sketchley Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 I don't remember there being one (not sure if it makes a difference - saw the broadcast on MBS in the Kansai region.) The first half just cut to a CM. The only cutting back from a CM that I remember is the one right after the first CM after the opening credits. No warning - boom! VF gun fire. Man... I feel like it's 10 years ago. Right after Macross F ended, there was a CM for Evangelion! Quote

sketchley Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Hmmm... to explain the images that Kresphy provided: Reveal hidden contents DVD & Blue Ray CM - first disc July 17th. The (rest of the?) series starts on/from July 25th. Ozuma comes into City 25 via an underground hatchway, in full-armour. He spots Alto attempting to take on the red Vajra. He lands inbetween them, and takes the heat off of Alto, and yells at Alto to rescue Ranka. Alto rescues Ranka, then takes to the air, being chased by 3 of the smaller Vajra. Alto goes skywards, and avoids a mega-powerful shot from one of the small Vajra. The arms are shot off of Alto's VF-25. Ranka and VF parts are sucked out of the colony ship via the giant hole the small Vajra just made. Alto ejects with a tether, grabs her, and pulls her to safety in the VF-25. He then flees back down towards the ground. A small Vajra is about to kill him, when Mihael shoots it down with a sniper shot. Ranka moves about in Alto's lap, thinking that it's her brother. When she realizes it's not, she screams, and sits on the HOTAS, sending the VF in a dive. Alto stabilizes the VF, but in the process he also grabs Ranka's chest. She screams (and I believe I saw a ripple extend outwards from the VF-25), which the Vajra react to by retreating. The VF-25 lands, and Ranka thanks Alto. He then remembers how he got the VF-25 (the other pilot getting squished) and runs away towards the ruined parts of the city. He then stops, and throws up. The next day at school, the UN officer escorted by soldiers enters the class, and orders/demands/takes Alto with them back to base. Quote

sketchley Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Reveal hidden contents Sheryl is looking for something, that she thinks her aid misplaces. She later examines video of the concert, and thinks that Alto might have it. She then dresses in the Minmei disguise, writes in French (!) in lipstick on the vanity mirror to tell her aide that she's gone out. Ranka and Ozuma are at a hospital in the city. Ranka leaves, just before Alto is escorted in, and into a closed room. Inside, three vials of his blood are taken (later, vials from all of the people who came into contact with the Vajra are shown.) Ozuma bursts in, and after initially having soldiers guns pointed at him, somehow gets Alto away and takes him into the SMS facility (which appears to be inside the City 25, underneath the city proper.) Inside, he shows the red and black VF-25's deceased pilot's personal effects and makes some demands to Alto (I didn't quite catch what he was demanding, though I did catch the reason: Alto saw how the original pilot died.) The other SMS groundscrew and pilots come up and surround Alto. Ranka and Sheryl have bumped into each other, and are walking in a park at the edge of the city. Their close proximity to each other (or one or both of their proximity to the edge of the ship) is detected by a red Vajra and 3 yellow ones that crashed/hid themselves in "Island 3" (one of the O'neil cylander-esque ships.) They launch, and are detected by the New UNS and SMS. The SMS launch. Alto stops Ozuma and says that he wants to fly with them and that he's a VF pilot. To which Ozuma smiles, and then gives him a knuckle sandwich, and yells at the SMS groundstaff to remove him, pronto. Cut to scene of Alto being kicked out the door. Ranka and Sheryl talk, and Ranka begins singing one of Sheryl's songs. To which Sheryl joins, and finishes when Ranka stops in surprise (up until this time, Sheryl was in the Minmei disguise, and Ranka hadn't realized who she was.) The SMS fighters are visible launching in the background. They appear to be heading towards the edge of the Jupiter-look-a-like planet (ie: away from where the Vajra hid themselves and have just launched from!) The red Vajra appears over where Ranka and Sheryl are talking. End of episode. It appears to me that at least the first 3 episodes are going to be a continuing story... the fun keeps up, so too the cliffhangers. Ah... so Macross (remembers similar endings in Macross Plus... >.<!!!!!) Quote

Your guess as to why Ranka's crying on Alto's lap is as good as mine. I believe that is Ozuma's Armoured VF-25, preparing to launch all missles - something which he does in "Hard Chase". Quote

Yeah, that's something that I'm really starting to like about the series - the characters. They (or at least Alto and Ranka) are everymen (or the otaku version of the everyman). Though, despite some really good moments, I'm still not liking the character designs. Mind you, the quality does seem to be a bit down from the first episode (though, I'm not sure if it's just my mind playing tricks, as the mecha and background stuff was up to par. My reason is some of my favourite anime have an impressive first episode or two, and then the quality drops off for a couple of episodes, before picking up again.) Nevertheless, grumbles about the character animation aside: see the pretty mecha. See the impressive backgrounds. Reveal hidden contents Not sure if this needs a spoiler: one sequence has a helicopter shot of Alto's VF-25 moving amongst the buildings. The entire sequence rendered in 3D CG, with everything changing perspective. It's no-where near Appleseed quality on the buildings, but quite decent none-the-less.) Quote

Whatever it is, it's a different effect than previous spiritia effects. That said, the spiritia effects differed greatly in Macross 7 and Macross 0; the same is probably true with spiritia in Macross F. I've had suspicions of Sheryl being spiritia empowered ever since the Deculture Edition, and the broadcast edition of eps.1 reinforced those suspicions. If it were spiritia, it'd definitely be in-line with Macross, and have a definite Macross motivation for the Vajra... Quote

Yeah I saw it too and almost jumped the gun there too. Part of me inside was wishing that it was actually just a typo on the releaser's part and it was actually ep02. And I'm not even the type who anxiously awaits RAW releases. For other anime's I'm quite comfy biding my time waiting for a descent fansub release even if it takes a couple of days but there's something about Macross that makes me a 7 year-old again Quote
