Sebastian Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 (edited) Check out what I found in Carrefour... The ultimate bootleg. Looks like they took some ideas from Toynami... Not one, but TWO LEDS!!! Whoooooow! Edited August 23, 2003 by Sebastian Quote
Commander McBride Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 (edited) How's the quality of that thing? Any diecast? It interests me to notice that it not only includes all the accessories, but it is accurately painted. Could it be the next Joon's? Edited August 23, 2003 by Commander McBride Quote
Sebastian Posted August 23, 2003 Author Posted August 23, 2003 HG?? BW?? Licences?? This guys have NO respect about that. You can see the toy is from MACROSS and it IS a Valkirie... On top of that they did not even bother themselfes in changing the insruccion... at least they could erase... BANDAI from it! Lol! Maybe it is an original product after all! Quote
mslz22 Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 Is that a pic of the 1/48 Yamato on the bottom of the package? Quote
Commander McBride Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 Is that a pic of the 1/48 Yamato on the bottom of the package? I was trying to figure the same thing out myself. It looks almost more like the 1/60, though. And what's with the yellow lettering on the gunpod? Quote
Sebastian Posted August 23, 2003 Author Posted August 23, 2003 The toy is a 1/55 repro of the bandai re release Hickaru tipe. Two colors. White and a NEON Fucsia. No diecast on this piece of crap but it does have a decent ABS plastic. The head is totally overdimensionated and HUGLY. Spring loaded landing gears like the original, but this ones des work escept for the one in the nosecone. There in almopst NO paint on this succker, everything is stickers... the worsk sticker quality you can inmagine. The leds are plain stupid but I guess Toynami will find them "interesting". Compared to a Joons, I think Joons are better. It cost me RMB 30, about US$ 3.38. Nice additions are the Gun Clip, meissiles, and heat shield and the very nice canopy. The silk print they use SUCKS, looks more like hand painted. The pics form the packaging are taked from the hikaru 1/55 and the others are not 1/60 yamatos neither 1/48. They looks more like resin kits. Quote
mslz22 Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 I still think it's pretty cool for $4.00 especially with a heat sheild Quote
Toonz Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 huh? the valk looks good for a custom. i wonder if i can find it in singapore carrefour..... i don't mind having a chunk of it to throw around.... Quote
sbarrett4 Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 Looks interesting. I love a good ("bad") bootleg. Could someone hook me up with a pair of these guys? I would appreciate it Shan Quote
GreenGuy42 Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 It doesn't look bad. I could certainly use some of its parts to repair a few of my Bandai valks... Quote
Hoptimus Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 For 4 bucks its a good heatsheild and gunclip set! Quote
UN Spacy Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 For almost $4.00 it seems like an interesting experimental piece. Do you plan on doing any modifications to it? Are you going to take any pictures in Battriod or Gerwalk mode? I hope it hasn't fallen apart during transformation.........has it? Great find! Quote
Toonz Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 oh wait a minute, it comes with CLEAR canopy! can we have some pics? Quote
KingNor Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 lol, hey for a bootleg that thing looks pretty nice... one thing though: who comes up with the placement of these lights?? why the cockpit? why on toynami did they put it in the head? why not in the tip of the gun or inside the legs to simulate after burners or something. the places they put the lights are so rediculous. hehe Quote
Toonz Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 why the cockpit? so that the pilot can see clearer Quote
Captain of the SDF-1 Macross Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 so that the pilot can see clearer Or telling the Zents, "Go ahead. Shoot me where the lights are." Quote
kidkorrupt Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 wow, the bootlegs have been getting better since the day of the "$5 bootlegs". i would get 10 of these just to get those clear canopies from...hope these make it out to chinatown in the next month or so. Quote
Mechafan Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 That is not bad and it has the Hikaru paint sceme and not Roy. They dared to be different. The gun clip and missiles are a nice touch. Quote
joke-machine Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 It actually lookls pretty cool in the package. Hopefully it will make it to US shores and we can pick them up for dirt cheap. Looks to be a better platform to make customs from. Quote
lebhead Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 my favorite boots are still the bootleg superposables found in San Diego and the bootleg morphers. now THOSE were boots that even their mothers would be ashamed of! Quote
StealthLurker Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 Can we get some of these at valkyrie-exchange? hehehe just a thought. =] Quote
Sam Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 Sounds like Kevin could import a container load and sell them all out. I reckon it looks quite good for a boot. Funny how they have all the better pictures of 1/60 though, as if someone would be that silly to believe its the same... Shoulda picked up a heap to bring back to Australia Sebastian! Im in the middle, *or should i say first quarter* of customising a boot I started a long time ago...its kinda fun, but had to do a lot of re arrangeing the insides so it can tranform still.. I wonder who made the original sculpt of the 1a bandai/tak head? it could never have ever looked good no matter what year it was done........ Quote
Blaine23 Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 It's no Space Gandam V, but it'll do nicely for a $5 bootleg. Joon's bootlegs were actually pretty good and used to fetch pretty good money. But the Space Gandam V had style. And style goes a long way. Quote
Mechwarrior Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 Holy Crap! That's a bootleg for reals? Or is this a joke Quote
newca Posted August 24, 2003 Posted August 24, 2003 30 RMB?? where did you find it? I never saw such a bootleg in Shanghai. friend told me there are some other toy/model bootleg found in Yiwu, ZheJiang,China, but not for retail! and no other reports from rest of China. I wonder where they go? only to USA? Quote
TheLoneWolf Posted August 24, 2003 Posted August 24, 2003 Not a bad bootleg. If Valkyrie-Exchange were to carry them, I'd definitely buy some. Kevin? Quote
Apollo Leader Posted August 24, 2003 Posted August 24, 2003 A light up cockpit?!? What will the bootleggers think up next! Quote
Sebastian Posted August 24, 2003 Author Posted August 24, 2003 I will post some more pics of this Valk in the other modes. I havent tried the eat shield and canopy on my bandais. I will do it and will let you guys know if the parts fits well. I think the plastic they use is a decent one, and some parts can be used in the 1/55s. anyways the toy is ultra floppy, but I guess it could be used for custom. Much better that the old 5 bootleg,. but the head... OMG the head. Quote
Sebastian Posted August 24, 2003 Author Posted August 24, 2003 30 RMB??where did you find it? I never saw such a bootleg in Shanghai. friend told me there are some other toy/model bootleg found in Yiwu, ZheJiang,China, but not for retail! and no other reports from rest of China. I wonder where they go? only to USA? Yup it is the FIRST knock off I had found here in Shanghai. And I had been here for 3 years allready. Funny I found it in a big Supermarket Chain like Carrefour. Ususally they carry original stuff, but now Carrefour sells nothing but bootlegs. I had only found original Bandais and Yammies here. First time with a knock off. Quote
Isamu Atreides 86 Posted August 24, 2003 Posted August 24, 2003 A light up cockpit?!? What will the bootleggers think up next! maybe a light up head visor? Quote
Commander McBride Posted August 24, 2003 Posted August 24, 2003 Hey, ya know, it's almost worth four bucks just to cannablize for the leds, batteries, and switch. And then you can make a nice custom. Not a bad deal overall. Quote
Sebastian Posted August 24, 2003 Author Posted August 24, 2003 Hummmmm... I must say this knock off is a VERY good one. I am kinda use to the YAmato accuracy and quality and I had to take out one BanDai Chunky Monkey out of the closet and then out of his box to compare. Check the pics and see foryourself. Gearwalk.
