It seems like there is another episode floating around out there? Or is that the normal/ non-deculture edition?

Was watching a youtube video on MacrossF and there was a scene I never saw before!!... a zoom out from a flight deck person in a bubble on the flight deck before the VF-171s launch

ah sorry guys my bad....just rewatched the episode and realised it was always there...i must have been too busy cleaning my drool to notice....

No no, I mean this site. Where Pete Walker attempts to wrangle information into a mishmash of official Macross stuff, conjecture, and fanfic into one mess that's more confusing than all of the branches of the Robotech military. Seriously, I saw a thread on the Pallidium board where 1St Border Red devil was using more three letter acronyms than I have ever seen in my life.

What the hell is the VF-4 doing there???

Actually for the OP & ED vids linked on the first page, you change the extensions of the FLV files to AVI, you get a better resolution. According to FLV Extract these are not actual FLV files. I guess someone took an ordinary AVI file changed the extension and uploaded it as an FLV video...

Triangular is really growing on me (at first I thought it was whiny)...definitely worth staying up late for!! :)

something bugs me about

the VF-25 causing sonic booms when in space tho (no air!!! is that possible ?).

Anyway it still Rocks tho

Wow just finished watching the opening and it's awesome. The graphics are great, shows us a lot of interesting things up front. Alto Hime is hilarious and I sort of feel sorry for him. He looks totally like a girl. The song itself is ok, it isn't very "hard core get going, raa raa" type of song. It won't whip the troops into action like the opening for Gundam00 or Gundam Seed, however the song is very reminiscient of the original Macross where is was pop music but not hard core.

Very interested in viewing that fighter that flies against the VF-25. I wonder what it is. I hope it isn't an enemy fighter. It'd be silly for the enemy to have transformable mecha so similar to the good guys.

Triangler doesn't feel very macrossy and so does the OP. Not sure why though since the only OP we got was from SDF, Mac2 and Mac7.

From reviews of websites, there seem to be some notable changes on ep 1 compared to deculture episod with added scenes and removed parts though the removed ones aren't significant.

My apologies, I misunderstood. For some reason that RT site seems familiar. I think I've seen it before, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away :) Whatever it is, it looks like someone hit it with the MySpace ugly kit. Egads, is it terrible to look at :)

Ack, I've got to run to work soon. So, looks like I'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Hot damn, though, that New Macross battleship looks great from what little I can see. I loved Battle 7, but I'm certainly happy we're getting a new design.

I think they're seriously mixing the classic love triangle formula though... they've got enough characters for a love dodecahedron. :blink: My guess is there's going to be a lot of pairing off somewhere in the series.

The white haired character at the end I'd guess is either Zentran or Meltran from the ear shape.. same as another main character interestingly... The design of the purple plane is too similar to the VF-25 to be a complete enemy, but I would guess maybe a serious rival, or possibly someone from another group like SMS with their own fighter designs (the company making the VF-25 could make multiple models based on the same basic frame).

Then again... really crazy idea. Besides the white hair, that character looks an awful lot like Alto (same girlish figure too). Would be interesting if they're related, maybe brothers, or possibly old kabuki acquaintances.. the ears go against it, but maybe they're half brothers. :huh:

Whoops, my mistake on posting that youtube links (sorry mods :rolleyes: ).

Battle 25 looks like a modification of new macross class ship, maybe it more fit for heavy battle unlike Battle 7. I can't wait for the official line art of that ship.

Cool, just watched the opening animation from rapidshare.

I'll still say I like the OP theme, and I think it works; I'm not sure necessary what is and isn't a "Macross-y" song, really........... the opening theme to SDF Macross is of course a very different kind of song for example, although one that seemed to fit the times (and still holds up, I think).

It seems to fit the OP animation pretty well, I think, and I do like Maaya Sakamoto's voice on it.

All I can say really is that it seems like a pretty nice theme, and I think I like it more than Macross 7's OP (and I say that as someone who is a big fan of large portions of Macross 7's various soundtracks).

Not really my favorite of Yoko Kanno's OP themes, but it still works.

Can't wait to hear more of her music for the series though.

EDIT: Just listened to the ED theme as well; hard to say too much about it. Seemed like a mix of one of the vocal-only versions of "Voices" combined with something from Turn A Gundam maybe.

I can't wait to see HG's "VF-19 Fire Veritech with Protoculture Audio Boosters" which focusses Musica's songs into a "Flower of Life" beam which disrupts the Invid...

I'm surprised it hasn't been torrented yet. I got it off Share pretty quickly so it's likely been floating around for a while.

The episode is much more like that first manga chapter than the decultured edition. Sheryl has more lines too, although she's just as brusque and is more diva-like. Cathy doesn't like the job she's been tasked with

:D .

One thing, thinking about it a bit more and comparing it to the full version of "Triangler", I will admit that I think I enjoy the song more as a full version than as an OP theme (of course, I like most of Yoko Kanno's OP themes in their full versions compared to the Intro short versions), but this might be one of the ones where I think it works better as a standalone full song than as an OP theme.

Still though, it works for me.
