Gundam MS IGLOO 2 Anime Announced

New computer-graphics project to depict Earth Federation ground combat

topkeyvisualcv8.jpg

Sunrise's Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO 2: Jūryoku Sensen (Gravity's Warfront) 3D computer-graphics anime series has been officially announced through a newly launched website. The project is a sequel to the Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO: The Hidden One Year War film series and Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO: Apocalypse 0079 video series, which in turn are spinoffs from the Mobile Suit Gundam robot war anime classic. Whereas the earlier MS IGLOO projects present the perspective of the Zeon forces (the antagonists of the One-Year War of the First Gundam series), the new MS IGLOO 2 project will present ground combat from the opposing Earth Federation side. The anime will be a collaborative project with the people behind Bandai's U.C. Hard Graph lineup of military vehicle models.

Takashi Imanishi (Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, Gundam Evolve, Armored Trooper Votoms videos) will return after having directed all the previous MS IGLOO installments. Scriptwriter Asahide Ookuma, CG supervisor Masayoshi Obata (Dinosaur King, The Wings of Rean), supervisor Yutaka Izubuchi (RahXephon, Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket, Patlabor), and unit director Masayoshi Obata will also retake their respective posts. Returning mechanical designers Kimitoshi Yamane (Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop, Gundam: The 08th MS Team), Shinji Aramaki (Mospeada, Appleseed, Megazone 23), and Izubuchi will work with the new designers Takuhito Kusanagi (Blue Submarine No. 6, Samurai 7) and Fumihiro Katagai.

Bandai Visual USA has released the previous MS IGLOO series in North America.

Awesome news. Despite some shakey CGI, IgLoo was a great series, though it's a shame that they're going Feddie side this time. The Zeon perspective really made it interesting. Great to hear that the same crew is back.

I liked the Hidden One Year War (never saw Apocalypse 0079). But it sounds like IGLOO 2 is going to be a shill for some non-mobile suit model kits. With nothing else to go on, I'll be cautiously optimistic, but this could go either way.

I've seen the IGLOO dvds once or twice, and they're just not worth it. Overpriced is an understatement. $50 dvds are NOT the way of the future, Bandai. Not unless you want to see the market continue to shrink.

Considering that the writing and animating is already done, anime on DVD has always been overpriced. It was one thing to charge $30 for a DVD with two or three episodes when everyone was charging $30 for a DVD, but when I can buy an entire season of an American TV show for that price, the value's just not there.

But that's the way it's ALWAYS been...just like anime on VHS was at least ten dollars cheaper if it was dubbed, even though subs are cheaper to produce.

But yeah...$100 for both DVDs is a lot to ask...a little less than half the price of the ENTIRE Zeta Gundam box set...

Overpriced is right...hell they didn't even bother to dub it. Bandai visual might has well have just dupped the fansubbers and released their versions on DVD.

I read reviews that said the 1st one had absolutely terrible choreoagraphy for the humans. Thoughts?

I wouldn't call it terrible but it sure wasn't in the rhelm of Appleseed or FF spirits within. Its still pretty cool though. The mecha CG looked better than the humans.

Just caught the 1st episode. MS Igloo 2 : The Gravity Front now focuses on those "bound by gravity", the Earth Federation forces. Episode 1 follows the exploits of a EF artillery squadron commander, with the unfortunate low-survival-rate job of being a "Zaku Hunter". I really like how they are taking a spin on the ground pounders and less on the mobile suits but why the heck is the commander an emo guy. And i'm not too sure on the whole "shinigami woman" thing....doesn't feel in place with the whole series.

I downloaded to torrent for the h264 file of ms igloo 2 and it doesn't run well at all... The video feed is ok but the sound stutters in and out and I don't know how to fix it... Anybody have an idea?

I DL'd gg's 720p MKV and then converted it to an AVI with the subs included. Came out ok.

Here's a megaupload link if you'd like, be warned .... it's 775Mbs.

No problem!!

I re-encoded Ep 2 last week and forgot to upload, but here it is now in all of its 876MB glory:

Enjoy!!! ;)

Many thanks. Truly, you are a noble among cannons.

If you don't mind my asking, what software do you use? I tried reencoding the first IGLOO awhile back, but the audio came out badly out of sync, and the whole process was a pain in the rear (extracting the subtitles, converting the subtitles into an srt file... no hardsubs, then covert the video separately).

Well, long story short....

I have a Mac and, although I could watch them, I like to burn the episodes to a DVD and watch them on the TV.

I had a site in which someone would convert them for me, but he went out of business. I then found VisualHub and I be happy!!

Unfortunately, they have also left the scene, but it's been working great for me.

Very "nice and easy": drag the MKV into the program, check it off to run through Quicktime which adds the subs, wait a while and all done!!

Then post the upload link here and spread the love!!

I'll look into it, but I honestly haven't booted my MacBook in months (my main computer is a Windows desktop I built for gaming).
