Zinjo Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 (edited) Well since only members who live in Japan or have access to a Japanese cellphone will be able to make suggestions on the naming of the new VF-25 according to Azrael's post. I think we should toss out our own picks for the name, here. Edited March 7, 2008 by Zinjo Quote
Zinjo Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 (edited) Well since only members who live in Japan or have access to a Japanese cellphone will be able to make suggestions on the naming of the new VF-25. I think we should toss out our own picks for the name, here. - Mustang II - Tomcat II - Spitfire II - Draken II (though I'd reserve that one for a Zentreadi fighter personally) - Corsair II - Voodoo II - Loki - Thunderbolt II - Arrow II - Mirage II A few that came to mind... VF-9 Cutlass VF-14 Vampire VF-17 Nightmare VF-22 Sturmvogel II VA-3 Invader VB-6 König Monster VF-5000 "Star Mirage" VF-0 "Phoenix" VF-11 Thunderbolt VF-19 Excalibur VF-1 Valkyrie VF-4 Lightning III VF-3000 Crusader (ones in quotes are unofficial) Quote
David Hingtgen Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I thought the VF-0 was determined to have been named "Zero", like the Mitsubishi A6M. Quote
azrael Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I thought the VF-0 was determined to have been named "Zero", like the Mitsubishi A6M. Fine, VF-0 "Zero" The Macross F website uses "Phoenix" as an example so I went with that. Quote
VF5SS Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 The VF-0 is generally referred to as "Zero" in the show. Quote
azrael Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Anyways, start naming names. Perhaps MW should host a contest as well. Winner who matches the winner in Japan gets a prize? Quote

jenius Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Thanks for the handy list of names Azrael! I will reflect on this quietly and seem to be working.... Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 VF-25 Myrmidon... don't know if it's spelled correctly, hehe Quote
TehPW Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Ten cents, they call it Valkyrie II... what better way to distance Mac II to the side of obsurity, as well pay homage to what makes zhe $... unless they can't, legally (input info plz?) Quote
ssfsx17 Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Going with the whole "frontier" theme: VF-25 Pioneer VF-25 Jaeger VF-25 Revolutionary VF-25 Star Blazer Quote
T.V. Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 (edited) Ten cents, they call it Valkyrie II...Was about to suggest that. Anyway, I'd like to return to female deities for a naming suggestion, instead of copy-pasting NATO names. With Hime-sama as the lead hero pilot, it's more than apt, IMO. How about: "Victory" - Named after the greek godess "Nike" and rhymes well with "Valkyrie" and the VF-25 looks like a reinvented VF-1 to me. Or: "Siren" "Venom" "Virgo" "Gabriel" - after the Angel "Eagle II" "Comet II" "Meteor II" "Spitfire II" "Viking" "Vulcan (II)" Not so serious: "Kadun Killah" Edited March 8, 2008 by T.V. Quote
OmegaD3k Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Seeing how SK loves ancient mythology.. How about: VF-25 Arjuna VF-25 Vimana ("A vimāna (Sanskrit: विमान) is a mythical flying machine, described in the Sanskrit epics." -Wikipedia) VF-25 Vajra (lightning bolt) VF-25 Argo (ship of the Argonauts) VF-25 Aegis Quote
cyde01 Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 (edited) VF-25 werewolf VF-25 hiryu VF-25 hayabusa VF-25 toryu VF-25 reppu VF-25 tenrai VF-25 marauder VF-25 vanguard VF-25 skyknight VF-25 scimitar VF-25 bandit Edited March 8, 2008 by cyde01 Quote
Gubaba Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Keeping with the Norse theme: VF-25 Wälsung VF-25 Brünhilde (maybe not...) Keeping with Hindu theme: VF-25 Vajrayudha VF-25 Indra VF-25 Shakti VF-25 Kalki Or maybe a different tack is needed: VF-25 Seiko VF-25 Momoe VF-25 Gomaki VF-25 Ayu Vf-25 Mari ( ) Or my personal favorite: VF-25 Seraph Quote
Graham Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 All all the names suggested so far, I think Gubaba's suggestion of VF-25 "Seraph" is the most fitting. My suggestions. VF-25 Hellbringer. VF-25 Armageddon. Graham Quote
Sorata Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 (edited) VF-25 Bandit VF-25 Star Razor VF-25 Vedas VF-25 Deliverance VF-25 Stratus VF-25 Raider VF-25 Indomitable VF-25 Solar Wind VF-25 Malevolent VF-25 Mystic VF-25 Artemis VF-25 Viridiance VF-25 Trojan VF-25 Creed VF-25 Viper VF-25 Cobra VF-25 Nexus VF-25 Twilight VF-25 Nourn VF-25 Griffin VF-25 Dais VF-25 Eclipse VF-25 Flare VF-25 Squall All all the names suggested so far, I think Gubaba's suggestion of VF-25 "Seraph" is the most fitting. My suggestions. VF-25 Hellbringer. VF-25 Armageddon. Graham I like it too. I would also try the full spelling of it Seraphim or one of the other Christian angelic hierarchy like Cherubim, Ophanim, or Dominion to keep with the theme. Edited March 8, 2008 by Sorata Quote
