Fly4victory Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Got the shipping note from HLJ today! WTF! Already listed on backorder and no shipping notice, so much for pre-ordering the beginning of August.
Kelsain Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Huh, I never noticed in the show that the head turned. Went back and looked at the art, and sure enough, the 25F, G and RVF heads all rotate for transformation. Oddly enough, the 25S does not, as clearly seen in episode 1 and the artwork. I wonder why it would be different?
Hikuro Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I believe it's just a special part so you can clip your VF-25 onto Bandai's gundam stands, just like how you get an adapter piece now with each valk from yamato on their display stands.
TSP Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 WTF! Already listed on backorder and no shipping notice, so much for pre-ordering the beginning of August. One of the reasons why I don't order from HLJ any more. Nearly every third pre-order item got canceled afterward. I end up hunting for it at other online stores or Evilbay. But this only apply to limited 1 time run products or printed matter with goodies. A good thing that Bandai stuff don't get discontinued so fast especially cash cows like this kit.
DrJinh007 Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Well, I pre ordered it from HLJ few days ago and I just got an email saying that they shipped my order!!! I cant wait!!!!!!
Vince Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 (edited) Mine just shipped, I've never have problem preorder from them. Ems cost as much as an extra kit. Sorrry about the repost, trying to type on me phone. Edited September 19, 2008 by Vince
David Hingtgen Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 HLJ's "random shipping priority" strikes again. I ordered just before the "early bird" discount was stopped, and got my shipping notice. People who ordered much earlier didn't get theirs, and people who ordered only very recently got one.
bullet101 Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Well mine's on its way after having preordered it with HLJ when they first put it up for preorder. Would prefer an Ozma one but this will do for now. Gonna have to see what i can do about moving the nose gear back, or maybe replacing it with a modified F-14 nose strut.
SDF-ONE Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Here is another review. http://www.geocities.jp/hobby_no_toriko/ma...f-25f-alto.html The transparent action base looks good. I ordered the white one because the transparent one was sold out. I might get one later.
badboy00z Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I want to see a size comparison with a 1/100 Gundam. I wonder if the hands will fit?
David Hingtgen Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Black landing gear? That sucks. Why couldn't that have been molded in white like the armor? It's a whole lot easier to paint white plastic tires black, than to paint the entire black plastic strut white...
Hikuro Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 placed an order from Imagine Anime, AND though it's off topic 0_o I found Frontier 25 and SMS Patches so I'm buying those too so I can make an SMS Jacket WOOT!
Morpheus Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Assembly instruction can be seen here: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10075554z/70/1
CosmicSpore Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 (edited) Thanks Also glad to know it comes with it's own stand! Chris Sorry! I didn't mean for that to sound as if it comes with an action stand. It does NOT come with an action stand. The stand it has for the fighter mode, the one that holds the middle, is 2 pieces (Which I am now sure of, it is displayed in the instruction). One piece apparently connects to the gun pod(? I'm not sure how that helps support the model, but that's where it connects.) The two pieces connect to form the small fighter mode stand, which is what holds the nose in place. An option is to remove the second piece of the small stand, if you have an action stand. The stand then attaches to the piece attached to the gun pod. This is the page of the instructions where it shows what I'm talking about more clearly. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10075554z16/70/16 Though, I wish it came with it's own stand... for 4500 yen it should have. But sorry for the misunderstanding. Edit: Looked at the instructions more closely, the special 'gun pod piece' holds the nose in place by snapping to the hinge and holding it there. The only reason that piece is needed to hold the nose in place is because the hinge needed to be on the bottom, or else a grotesque hinge would have been visible on the top of the fighter.... and NO ONE would have wanted that. PetarB Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 WTF! Already listed on backorder and no shipping notice, so much for pre-ordering the beginning of August. I ordered from HLJ as soon as they listed, and now I'm on backorder. What the hell's going on?
Graham Posted September 20, 2008 Author Posted September 20, 2008 Checked in some of the shops in Tai Po district and was told by one model shop that they would be getting it in on Saturday 27th September and the price would be HK$298. Graham
azrael Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Though, I wish it came with it's own stand... for 4500 yen it should have. But sorry for the misunderstanding. Perhaps you haven't heard about the raising cost of making Gunpla?
Hikuro Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 price doesnt sound high at all for this kit. it's practically a mastergrade...and if its size is anywhere near what the VF0 is, then itll be a fairly good sized kit. I would think its about the size of a typical 1/100 gundam or a little larger right?
Salamander Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 I ordered from HLJ as soon as they listed, and now I'm on backorder. What the hell's going on? They probably got more pre-orders than the number of kits they got from the distributor...
QuinJester Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 (edited) Gamu's pictorial guide for the kit is up: http://gamu-toys.info/gangu/pura/r3/mf01/mf01.html He doesn't use the underbody support in his fighter mode displays. Edited September 20, 2008 by QuinJester
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Ah still deciding whether I should get alto or ozuma. I like Ozuma head turret better. And yeah: even though these look great, I would still want a MG if they choose to go that route one day.
David Hingtgen Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 MG would be almost pointless IMHO compared to this, go all the way to PG if there's to be a bigger/better one.
Thom Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Same great news as others!! HLJ gave notice that mine is on the way too. Way cool!!!
anime52k8 Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 MG would be almost pointless IMHO compared to this, go all the way to PG if there's to be a bigger/better one. a PG in 1/48-1/32 scale would be awsome. so is the canopy in http://gamu-toys.info/gangu/pura/r3/mf01/mf01.html painted, or is it really that blue? the tint looks awful on that one.

There are several shots of the parts runners that show the clear parts are straight transparent, no coloring. You can also kinda see the unevenness in the canopy coloring in gamu's photos, so it was done by him. The model builder will be able to coat it any way their heart sees fit, no worries.
Chronocidal Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 (edited) Curse you Bandai.. I wanted a nice set of orthogonal views in the instruction sheets. heh.. not to mention my next paycheck, because I want about a dozen of these. On the plus side though... they just printed us all the fancy detailed transformation/internal structure diagrams for the VF-25 we could probably ever want. I'll just have to see if I can piece together a 3d model from non-perspective bits of the instructions. Edited September 21, 2008 by Chronocidal
PetarB Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 They probably got more pre-orders than the number of kits they got from the distributor... That would be fair enough, except for: Well, I pre ordered it from HLJ few days ago and I just got an email saying that they shipped my order!!! I cant wait!!!!!! I preordered bascially as soon as it was up. And now I'm on pre-order? There's something wrong here.
badboy00z Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 I guess it's not a 1st come 1st serve basis.
Salamander Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 AFAIK, there's 1 way to circumvent the '1st ordered, 1st served'-thing, and that is to tell them to ship all available items (through the online system) as soon as something new comes in stock for the 1st time.
kensei Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Best put together 1/72 I've seen so far. A little overboard with the tinting, but still good. Bandai have done a terrible knee design though, ugh.
Vince Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 (edited) That would be fair enough, except for: I preordered bascially as soon as it was up. And now I'm on pre-order? There's something wrong here. I actually placed my order after someone here said it on available for pre-order, maybe a few days later. The same as I pre-ordered most other kits from HLJ, I usually hear the pre-order from this board first. Only once have I been push off of the first batch, but I always order at least two. Fly4victory Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 I love the blue tint on the canopy. He used clear blue to tint the canopy. Looking at the feet is that Jet Exhaust or Anthracite Gray?
David Hingtgen Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 "Jet exhaust" paint varies a ton, even just the enamel vs acrylic version within the same company's line so it's always hard to tell what someone used. But I'd vote anthracite grey.
Jarrod Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 He used clear blue to tint the canopy. Looking at the feet is that Jet Exhaust or Anthracite Gray? I'd say bare plastic actually, judging by the visible sprue marks. Also, for the mods: When we members start getting the kits should we post our reviews/buildups in this current thread, or start our own new one? Jarrod
