Gubaba Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 ...and is it any good? http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=GNCA-7109 The tribute albums always seem to be rather mixed bags...although when the singer is in charge of the project (i.e. Mari Iijima Sings Lynn Minmay and Fukuyama Fire), the results tend to be better, IMHO. So...is there a verdict on this one yet? Quote
Graham Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Considering it's Chie Kajiura, the original sing voice of Mylene, it's probably going to be petty good! Note, Tomo Sakurai was the acting voice of Mylene, although she did sing a bit. Graham Quote

akt_m Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 There are samples at the same page you linked... though i can't tell if it's good or bad... or perhaps you wanted someone to point you where you can "buy" it?? Quote

Heh...believe me, I already checked all the torrent sites I could think of (to no avail)...so I just put it on my growing list of stuff to get when I go back to Tokyo this summer. I'm not in a hurry, so it's no big deal. (...that said, if you knew a site to download it, I wouldn't say no... ) And I didn't realize you could listen to samples on CDJapan...I've never used them before. EDIT: I can't seem to get the samples from the website anyway. Some kanji that I'm too lazy to look up in a dictionary pops up... Edited February 24, 2008 by Gubaba Quote
Isamu test pilot Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Actually a friend nave that one and I already listened all the tracks , believe me, is pretty, really pretty different from the voice actress that everyone knew in Macross Seven... Is gothic if I have to describe it... Quote
Gubaba Posted February 24, 2008 Author Posted February 24, 2008 GOTHIC MYLENE?!? Okay, I need this CD. Quote

Chronocidal Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 (edited) No source for straight music, but I did find this video of "Love Song." Sounds pretty similar to the older recording, but with a darker guitar sound. Love Song Edited March 1, 2008 by Chronocidal Quote

Gubaba Posted June 21, 2008 Author Posted June 21, 2008 Having heard it now...I'm gotta say. I wouldn't call it gothic exactly...but there's a definite shoegazer vibe to it. Which is fine. I love shoegazer music. (But yeah...it sounds like Mylene backed by My Bloody Valentine. Seriously cool!) Quote
Billy Evanz Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Hey i have this album and all of Chie's music I will upload the album soon Quote

polidread Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 thanks for sharing ! always been curious as to what Chie and her music really sounds like... Quote
Mercurial Morpheus Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 (edited) Wow, that's kind of wicked sounded. Especially My Friends. So different from Mylene's version. Is this her normal sound? Edited June 21, 2008 by Mercurial Morpheus Quote
Gubaba Posted June 21, 2008 Author Posted June 21, 2008 Wow, that's kind of wicked sounded. Especially My Friends. So different from Mylene's version. Is this her normal sound? It's hard to tell if it is or not...her previous albums came out in '95 and '96. And there were only two of them. And I've only heard the first one (I got it to boinger, and it's in the iMacross section). But no, it doesn't sound much like this. I really like both of the albums, though..."Loophole" has more of a '90s psychedelic pop vibe to it. Whereas this one...yeah, both "Gift 25" and "Fukuyama Fire" could eat the original Fire Bomber versions of the songs for breakfast. Which is a very good thing! Quote
azrael Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Doesn't have anything to do with Frontier. If anything, I would submit it to boinger to put on iMacross/Macross Share. Quote
Gubaba Posted June 25, 2008 Author Posted June 25, 2008 Doesn't have anything to do with Frontier. If anything, I would submit it to boinger to put on iMacross/Macross Share. Don't worry...it's already there. By the way, I just heard Electric Fire 2007, and was rather shocked to hear that Chie's portion of the show is basically a live version of the entire "Gift 25" album... Quote
Gubaba Posted June 27, 2008 Author Posted June 27, 2008 Nice pic... Y'know, I'm wondering. Chie's last full album came out in '96...what has she been doing for the last twelve years? Quote
