Thanks for the effort, Graham!

Y'know, in reading the comic, I just realized that "Saotome" means "young girl," and we all know what an "Alto" is...so not only does Alto look like a girl, he's also got a girly name...

Kamille Complex squared...?

Hey, ackem Shintougougun loosely translates into New Unified Government Army/Military.

Thanks for the heads up, though I think I'll just leave it untranslated. Have any idea what the "piikii" line on p54 means, I'd love to know  . And I'd also love know about that "smoke liking high places" idiom/proverb that Alto uses on p24.

Anyways I edited the translation to reflect the cut off parts on p35.

Is the piikii line in kanji or in kana?

The line is グウ。。。!! 扱いが。。。ピーキーすぎるぞコイツ!! I'm sorry to say that I really suck with katakana...

I think they may be going for the word "picky".

Maybe, although wouldn't picky be more like ピッキー? Oh well, I think I'll just give up on the accuracy of that line.

In the Shinsen sub version, they have a little note about the proverb being something like, "Smoke and idiots both rise."

Not entirely sure what it's supposed to mean, though...maybe when someone at work who you hate gets promoted over you or something...?

Thank you, Graham!

But, y'know...of all the things I was expecting from Macross F, someone shouting "PLANET DANCE!! FIRE!!!" was NOT among them...

I feel pandered to...and I like it!

Why is that the manga is deviating from the episode? (The fact that Gillion is killed/crushed)

(my thinking is the age group that the magazine is published for? young teens?)

It's fairly common for manga adaptations of anime to differ from the original source. Usually it's just a case of different author, different perspective.
