yellowlightman Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 If they grasped the basics of the story, they should know that Akira needs to be set in Japan. But we all know that's not going to happen, which means complete rewrite, except for the bike and the mutants. I don't really see what aspects of Akira REQUIRE it to be set in Japan, but the change to New Manhattan still seems unnecessary. Quote
DJ Loe Kee Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 meh, live action japanese action movies are good for a laugh or two but I can't take them seriously for anything other than a chuckle and a cheesey good time. the only japanese movie that i've seen is ringu and it is 100 times better than the ring (even tho' most scenes are the same in both movies). i mainly watch chinese movies and i've started to watch korean movies too. I'll give you that japanese horror movies are good.. but watch princess blade or any of the action movies... they're uhm... awesome. if you're starting to watch korean movies, check out the revenge trilogy.. old boy and lady vengeance are incredible. bsu legato Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Maybe if we just ignore this news, the whole thing will go away. That worked for the longest time on the DragonBall movie. Treat it like a T-Rex in Jurassic Park: It can't see you if you don't move. Quote
kanedaestes Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Except that dragonball z is currently in production right now in Mexico with James Masters (Spike from Buffy and Angel, Brianiac on Smallville) as Piccolo so yeah can't make that statement anymore. Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 (edited) Maybe they'll do to the akira live action what they did for 300 and make the backgrounds all cg? I think he-man will be better than this. Anyone got any news on the live action with cg he-man movie? Edited February 23, 2008 by 1/1 LowViz Lurker Quote
