1st Border Red Devil Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Roy Scheider, a two-time Oscar nominee best known for his role as a police chief in the blockbuster movie "Jaws," died Sunday. He was 75. Scheider died at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital in Little Rock, hospital spokesman David Robinson said. The hospital did not release a cause of death. However, hospital spokeswoman Leslie Taylor said Scheider had been treated for multiple myeloma at the hospital's Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy for the past two years. I will always remember him as Dr. Floyd from 2010: Odyssey Two.
EXO Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Blue Thunder Pilot Frank Murphy... (Robocop's dad?)
areaseven Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 "Smile, you son of a b*tch!" - Jaws (1975) It's sad that he left us so soon. Jaws and Blue Thunder were two of his best performances on screen. R.I.P., Roy.
UN Spacy Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Another great Roy is taken from us. RIP dear sir. I'll always remember him from Blue Thunder with its motion tracking sub machine gun. Take THAT Airwolf!
Scream Man Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Captain of the Seaquest Happy sails Captain.
vermillion01 Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 A true legend.. r.i.p. roy from J.A.F.O.
JsARCLIGHT Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I've always loved Roy for his "everyman" quality... to me he really "sold" the roles he was in because he just had this certain je ne se quoi about him, this tangible "this is what a real life hero or good guy would look and act like" sort of vibe. Which is why he played such a convincing cop. Be it Det. Buddy Russo, Cheif Martin Brody or Officer Frank Murphy, he had the same panache, the same fatherly charm and believability. Which is made all the more strange by his cold and fearsome portrayal of crime boss Fyodor Chevchenko in Third Watch. He was downright frightening and intimidating... so "un Schieder". The guy was an all around good actor and he will be missed.
Beltane70 Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I was a bit shocked and very disappointed when I learned of Roy Schieder's passing. He'll be missed!
ruskiiVFaussie Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 *snap* "Catch you later" duuuude, Roy was the best in blue Thunder.
1st Border Red Devil Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 (edited) *snap* "Catch you later" duuuude, Roy was the best in blue Thunder. Heh, another great Scheider f&ck off and die line was 'So long, sport' from 52 Pick-Up. Edited February 12, 2008 by 1st Border Red Devil

Skullsixx Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 A true legend.. r.i.p. roy from J.A.F.O. Classic quote dude... RIP Roy, and best to his family. Thanks for all the GREAT films that helped define my childhood!
CAIN MKII Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 French connection. So unfair, we will miss you Roy.
Mercurial Morpheus Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Ah man. I used to watch Seaquest all the time. Yet another great lost to the ages. R.I.P.
Totoro242 Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 One of my favorite Roy Scheider roles: Sorcerer. Awesome movie. One of the gritiest, raw, and intense movies I have ever seen.
Mr March Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 RIP Roy. I'll always remember your performances. "You're gonna need a bigger boat."
Godzilla Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 He was one of the most talented actors I have seen on screen. I was simply amazed how he filled the role as the Russian mob boss on Third Watch. He seems to fit into his roles well. In the Rainmaker, he played the sleezy corporate President well. But alas, I will remember him for his roles in Blue Thunder, The French Connection, 2010: Odyssey Two and the Sea Quest Capt. RIP Roy.
Kyp Durron Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I saw the article on Yahoo last night...yet another great actor leaves this world. R.I.P., you will be missed. -Kyp
Noriko Takaya Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Heaven's gonna need a bigger boat. So long, Roy...
