Lonely Soldier Boy Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 I've been away from this thread despite being the 21 my all time favorite Valk, because I'm not too fond of Battroid mode on this toy. Fighter is perfect, but I'm a Battroid guy and this one leaves a lot to be desired IMHO: the hips seat too low and the legs are too skinny. Looks too "human", so to speak, for a Battroid whose main appeal is its Q-Rau, alienish anatomy. I was hoping for Yamato to "borrow" some ideas from the D-Stance model, but as it is, I'm in no hurry to get this.
ruskiiVFaussie Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 too good to pass up as a fighter mode luver, i too think the legs are too skinny, but it's a sacrifice as we all know. In fact that's the exact reason why i'm getting the GNU YF-21.
Wicked Ace Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 I'm going to disagree with the (too) skinny leg comments. I like this sculpt, and I'm not a fan of fat legs -- especially on the -21. Sure, there's big-leg line art out there, but come on. . .
ruskiiVFaussie Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 I think everyone knows by now it was a compromize, i didn't say i don't like the thinner than line art legs. I kinda look at it more like the Q-Rau was Meltrandi by design and the 21 could be somewhat feminine as it's mom. *shrugs* all is good for me anyhow!
Wicked Ace Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 I think everyone knows by now it was a compromize, i didn't say i don't like the thinner than line art legs. My point is, if I recall correctly, there is some line art that looks like what Yamato has put together as far as the legs go, so it is just a matter of preference, more than one of line art correctness. I hope I'm making sense at this point.
ruskiiVFaussie Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Yeah you are, somehow, shouldn't be i got a head cold and i'm swimming.
Sumdumgai Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I believe it's Dengeki Hobby May issue, that has pics of the YF-21 transformation. It shows how they did the shoulders/arms in fighter mode, and all that good stuff. But, I'm a cheapass and didn't pick up the magazine. Sorry guys, but at least now you know there's pics out. (I think if was Dengeki Hobby, either that or it was Hobby Japan). The pics made me want the YF-21 even more!
dizman Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 You cheap bastich ! Anywhoo anyone know any final release date on this thing yet, it must be getting pretty close?

For myself personally seeing the pics G-Man posted up with the Fold Dong on place of the VERYYYYYYY sleek side on view of the YF-21 has me salivating like the tallest waterfall evar. :edit: Just did a search, all they say included in those mags is gundam this and gundam that, when will the bastards learn. *shakes fist* j/k but seriously. 1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 (edited) I just bought a transformer (leader sized brawl from the tF movie) so I'm going to have to postpone the 21 for now. (regardless of if first releases are perfect) Couldn't help it, was just sitting there saying 'buy me' from behind the plastic box and like an abandoned puppy dog you find on the streets (this one looks like a Pug) I ended up bringing it home. I think they should show us some yf-21 transformation pics now. Keep us looking at it at new angles and seeing the guts. Edited March 30, 2008 by 1/1 LowViz Lurker
Sumdumgai Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 There are some out in the Dengeki Hobby magazine. If it were in Hobby Japan, I think Graham would have scanned and posted them, so they're definitely in Dengeki Hobby.
Kyp Durron Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Another 8 days and counting till this thing hits the streets, I can't wait! Of course, that means at least another 2-3 weeks before it will be in my hands though. -Kyp

Alex Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 So the 21 is out on the 8th or 9th. Grr. That means i'll probably have to buy it in the morning and have it sitting under my desk all day at work, calling to me, begging to be opened..................and i'll love every agonizing second of it

1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?s=&a...st&p=577245 ^ Is that the scan you mean?
Beware of Blast Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 They'd better make the damn chest piece lock this time.
Alex Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Oh STFU, some of us here in the States are gonna have to wait 3 weeks after that, you lucky bastard! -Kyp Thanks Sorry. I was intentionally gloating.
dizman Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 So they actually bit the bullet and threw in delimiter mode for that extra kick, can't say I'm suprised but seeing it now it looks kinda iffy. Maybe I'm just wrong and they took off the legs so we could see the arms, yeah thats it no parts come off causing more problems in the long run . Ah well, pretty much the transformation we expected and I'll still be a fanatic and buy this even with the questionable decisions being made by Yamato recently.
Sumdumgai Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Yep! That's the scan! Interesting transformation process, isn't it?

Meh it looks like they are just showing how the arms transforms by removing the legs is all, not the actual delimiter mode, i don't think there is one but i have been wrong many of times before.
kaiotheforsaken Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I really hope the thing doesn't have delimiter mode. No reason to give a yammie an additional reason to fall apart
Necron_99 Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Meh it looks like they are just showing how the arms transforms by removing the legs is all, not the actual delimiter mode, i don't think there is one but i have been wrong many of times before. I agree, but if they did, my 21 is going to stay in fighter mode anyway. I think the battroid/gerwalk is fugly
UN Spacy Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Wait. So Yamato really did include a delimiter mode? The arms will fall off on purpose this time?
dizman Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 So with the release date so close and the aparent absense of Graham does this mean the review is coming out before the release date (if theres a review that is)?
badboy00z Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Since the legs are detachable, it'd be cool if Yamato threw in a set of beefier legs.
Wicked Ace Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 (edited) Since the legs are detachable, it'd be cool if Yamato threw in a set of beefier legs. Slightly thicker from the straight-on view would be OK with me, but not thicker in a way that creates the exaggerated bell-bottom pant look. Thanks to ruskiiVFaussie for posting this side-by-side in another thread: I hate the way the legs are drawn on that VF-22. Edited April 6, 2008 by Wicked Ace
Mog Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Not for me! I'm sure I'll be doing some double-barreled posing of this pup in battroid mode.
VFTF1 Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 No way. I don't believe the legs on the 21 are detachable. VFTF1
eugimon Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 they're obviously detachable, whether they're meant to be detached is a different question.
Ghostkiller Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 hey guys on the big yamatos the legs are easyly detached VF-1 , yf-19 , SV-51, vf-0 and YF-21 of course
eriku Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Weather or not they can detach isn't an issue for me. What is an issue is if they have to be detached for transformation. If that's the case, no 21 for me.
