adrianop Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 very nice. Less reliance on fancy gadgets, simplified car, a Bond that looks like he can really beat you up, a Bond that bleeds. I like. Quote
Vermillion21 Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 Caught the new trailer on TV last night ... looks good! I can't believe this comes out in 3 weeks!! I can't wait!! Quote

ruskiiVFaussie Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 i'll be cathcing this one at the cinema thats for sure, missed out on Casino Royale on the big screen and still kicking myself. Somehow i think this one will be much better. He is the best bond to date. Quote
yellowlightman Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Roger that, I mean, running over some broad is one thing, but rolling an Aston Marton?! Unforgivable... Uh, it's a car? Seriously, when I first saw Casino Royale in theaters half the audiencet (dumb college students) gasped when the Aston Martin got totalled. Sure, it'd be one thing if it was a rare or unusual car... but a modern production car, who the hell cares? Quote
Vermillion21 Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 i'll be catching this one at the cinema thats for sure ... me too ... Quote
Mr March Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 All I ask is that he doesn't roll ANOTHER ASTON MARTIN!!! Are you kidding me? The roll in Casino Royale was one of the best car rolls in movie history. I hope Bond rolls two cars in the QoS Quote
Agent ONE Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 ... As for the new bond girl who is also "driven by revenge" i get this horrible gutt feeling she's going to be the sister of that girl who got killed in the hammock. please please please don't let me be right. oh god. ... That was the plot of Goldfinger.. It worked then Quote
the white drew carey Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Are you kidding me? The roll in Casino Royale was one of the best car rolls in movie history. I hope Bond rolls two cars in the QoS I see your two rolls, and raise you an airplane crash. Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Are you kidding me? The roll in Casino Royale was one of the best car rolls in movie history. I hope Bond rolls two cars in the QoS I want Bond to get back up in the air, LOVED Octopussy and him kicking arse in the mini jet, whatever type it was. Cars shmars get back up there! Quote
Vermillion21 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 (edited) Hopefully this film will have some cool spy gadgets. I know they were trying to push realism with the last film and purposely didn't use any gadgets ... I like the gadgets ... Edited October 30, 2008 by Vermillion21 Quote
myk Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Are you kidding me? The roll in Casino Royale was one of the best car rolls in movie history. I hope Bond rolls two cars in the QoS Actually, that was pretty cool. The wreck sold for quite a bit of money, I'm told... Quote
Mr March Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Actually, that was pretty cool. The wreck sold for quite a bit of money, I'm told... Yeah, that was just recently wasn't it? I remember reading that on the IMDB. Bizarre. Quote
CoryHolmes Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 He is the best bond to date. He's good, but my favourite is still Brosnan. Brosnan embraced all the qualities that Bond should have and gave him a bit of humanity in the process. Craig is good, but not the best. Quote
myk Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Just depends on what kinda' Bond you're into. I liked Brosnan because I think he fit the role of the handsome, dapper, capable English super agent with a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor that mirrored the tone of the movies he was in. Craig on the other hand, is a more brutal, hard nosed sort of an agent and obviously 'Royale reflects that as well. Ultimately I think the fun and games days of Brosnan's Bond needed to end; I want to see how Craig's Bond will carry on the legacy... Quote
Sumdumgai Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Ultimately I think the fun and games days of Brosnan's Bond needed to end; I want to see how Craig's Bond will carry on the legacy... With Brutal bone crunching efficiency, hopefully. Quote
CoryHolmes Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I liked Brosnan because I think he fit the role of the handsome, dapper, capable English super agent with a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor Without knocking you or your opinions, I'd like to point out that Goldeneye gave little hits that that tongue-in-cheek was a cover for a much darker, much more psychologically unstable person. Admittadly the subsequent movies strayed away from that, but still... Quote
Vermillion21 Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Brosnan is my fav Bond as well, a carryover from when he was Remington Steele (a guilty pleasure of mine). Quote
yellowlightman Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I grew up with Brosnan Bond, and for a long time he was my favorite... but Craig blows him out of the water. So many Bond films just became unintentional parodies of the genre the series helped to create or were only worthwhile in the context of the series as a whole. Casino Royale really did a good job of not just standing on it's own as a great movie, but ditching all the ridiculous crap that had been bringing down the series. I just hope Solace doesn't drop the ball like the post-Goldeneye films did. Quote
myk Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Without knocking you or your opinions, I'd like to point out that Goldeneye gave little hits that that tongue-in-cheek was a cover for a much darker, much more psychologically unstable person. Admittadly the subsequent movies strayed away from that, but still... The implication that the Brosnan Bond was a "dark" character beneath all of the quips and jokes was very poorly made even in Goldeneye. Furthermore, the remaining Bond movies virtually did away with his "dark" side entirely. I believe the only other mention of his past involved a fling with Teri Hatcher. With Craig there is no silliness or boyishness about him, no Q and his stupid gadgets to goof on-he's a hard, able, focused man on a mission... Quote
Roy Focker Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Craig or rat face was just fortune enough to get a darker Bond movie. Quote
Vermillion21 Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I hope they bring back Q as well ... Quote
Mr March Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Connery, Brosnan and Craig are still my favorite Bonds. I don't care which Bonds movies are more comic book or which ones are more reality-TV style, I like Goldfinger, I like Goldeneye and I like Casino Royale. As great as Daniel Craig is, sometimes I just don't want the brooding Bond. Sometimes I want "Beg your pardon, forgot to knock" *smack* Quote
Fortress_Maximus Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Already got my tickets for QoS! This is the only film I am actually looking forward to before the end of the year. Quote

With Craig there is no silliness or boyishness about him, no Q and his stupid gadgets to goof on-he's a hard, able, focused man on a mission... Totally agree with you. I like Brosnan, but not as Bond (nor as a singer, if you've heard the Mama Mia soundtrack). Casino Royale is the first bond film I've watched in years because Daniel Craig actually looks like someone who could, and would, kick the poo out of you. He's a devious, hugely intelligent thug with little conscience - which is exactly what a double-0 should be. Brosnan is great for films like The Thomas Crown Affair remake, which is really a great movie. Regarding gadgets, most of the stuff that used to be fantasy in the old films is today's reality. Technology is so common and embedded in our society today, does he really need a Q? Quote
Uxi Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 (edited) Goldeneye is still one of my favorite Bond movies. The rest of the Brosnan movies I only really like for their intro / chase scenes. Definitely a fan of Craig's Bond (more than Connery and Moore, who always seemed pretty hokey to me) but would hope it could meet the Brosnan Bond somewhere in the middle. I like the gadgetry and would like to seem them do some semi-realistic stuff (along the lines of his in car gadgets). A cell-phone remote control for the Aston Martin would be nice. At the very least, some vehicle mounted weaponry! Edited October 31, 2008 by Uxi Quote
DHX Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 not a fan of daniel craig's version of James bourne Quote
CoryHolmes Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 not a fan of daniel craig's version of James bourne That's a very good point right there. One of Bond's defining characteristics, regardless of how much there was of it, is his dapper, debonaire attitude. Running from Connery's witty one-liners, to Moore's over-the-top comic take, to Brosnan's wicked grins, all version of Bond have that aspect and that's part of what sets him apart from other superspies. Craig's Bond really didn't have that, and doesn't look like he'll be getting it in this movie either. But his Bond is better than most other movie spies. All Bonds are better than other movie spies. Except maybe Maxwell Smart Quote
taksraven Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 But his Bond is better than most other movie spies. All Bonds are better than other movie spies. Except maybe Maxwell Smart If Bond was going to be a realistic British spy he would have to have a more 'flexible' sexuality because it sounds like a lot of them had to be into anything (literally) to be successful. The whole 'womaniser' thing is a load of dingo's kidneys. Taksraven Quote
