isamu Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 From ANN: Radio Macross, the talk show dedicated to the Macross anime space opera with transforming robots and pop music, premiered on Japan airwaves this past weekend, and the Onsen website has begun its official streaming of entire episodes online on Tuesday. The radio show is part of the buildup for Macross Frontier, the 25th anniversary series that will air in Japan this April. The show will discusses news about Macross in general and Macross Frontier in particular. Radio Macross joins Onsen's roster of streamed shows, which includes Aria, ToHeart2, Rosario + Vampire, School Days, Mayumi Iizuka, Sky Girls, One Piece, Clannad, and more. The two hosts of Radio Macross are Megumi Nakajima and Kenta Miyake. In Macross Frontier, Nakajima plays the heroine Ranka Lee, a Chinese restaurant waitress who dreams of meeting her pop idol and becoming a singer herself. Miyake plays the secondary character Bobby Margo, a bridge operator aboard the Macross 25 warship. A 27-minute early cut of Macross Frontier's first episode aired on Japanese television late last month to generally positive reviews. Randalt Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Soooooooooooo frustrated that I cant understand Japanese You and me both, dude! I am such a slacker... I listened to it anyway. De Kulcha!
azrael Posted January 11, 2008 Author Posted January 11, 2008 Soooooooooooo frustrated that I cant understand Japanese You can always go learn it..... 5-minutes in and it sounds like your standard interview and promotional stuff. A few nods to previous Macross series. Yeah, that's what I figured. Well, maybe a few important pieces of info will somehow filter through from this show. This is probably something more for production aficionados. Tales behind-the-mic and all that....
MisaForever Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 You can always go learn it..... Yes, well learning Japanese isn't as easy as one might think.
Macross007 Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Yes, well learning Japanese isn't as easy as one might think. Even with a course ?
Elektrix Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Yes, well learning Japanese isn't as easy as one might think. I've always wondered about that; it's one of those things I've always wanted to learn, but it just seems very intimidating. Outside of spoken Japanese, written Japanese really scares me too; whenever I'm watching a show and there's a ton of characters on screen at the same time, and only on for a few seconds, and often very tiny, I am amazed that someone could easily read through them all.... frankly I have trouble even with just a fair amount of English text shown at once when only shown briefly.
DJ Loe Kee Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Even with a course ? yes, i took it in college. japanese and chinese are two of the hardest languages to learn... and spanish and english are two of the easiest. how about this, we had daily (3 days a week class) quizzes for the first two weeks of class and i FAILED all of them except for the final quiz. the quiz was a basic hiragana quiz. we would learn about 5 hiragana each day and the followin' class we would have a quiz over it. but the quiz was an oral quiz, she would say a 2 or 3 syllable word and we would have to write down (in hiragana) what she said. she only said it twice and it was hard to understand her accent. O yea, i sux at oral quizzes but i can ace written tests and readin'/translatin' tests (this includes my spanish and french courses i took). i switched to a different asain language to learn 'cause their alphabet has less than 40 letters to learn (i'm on my own tho', no class available for me). i would have to learn 1000-2000 kanji just to be able to read a japanese newspaper (give or take a couple hundred.

"#" could mean "apple" and "*" could mean "pie". so as a shortcut we could use two letters "#*" to spell out "apple pie" instead of spellin' it out usin' all "8 letters". sorry, but my college didn't offer part 2 of japanese in the next semester (i had to wait a year just for part 2) so i didn't continue in japanese. so i don't know very little kanji or katakana. somebody else could probably explain it easier.

Yeah...... I've read a few introductions to kanji, for example, and I get the feeling I could sort of learn some of it..... but I guess it's seeing a lot of it at a time, and very tiny (where it seems hard for me to even make out what the individual characters are) that is very intimidating to me.

Graham Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Stay on topic please guys. This is the Frontier News thread, not the learn Kanji thread. You are welcome to create a thread for learning Japanese in the other anime forum. Graham

RDClip Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 And a scan of the 1 page Macross Frontier article from the February 2008 issue of Animage. Graham This scan is awsome, we get to see a lot more detail in the 25's head
azrael Posted January 18, 2008 Author Posted January 18, 2008 The shield on the Full-Armored looks like it has a reactive armor covering on it.
Mr March Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 (edited) Amazing pictures! The head units look fantastic in detail. I particularly like the VF-25 head unit for Ozuma's type. The armored Valkyrie looks great. I love the way the armored sections rest on the front torso of the mecha. It just looks so bad ass. Edited January 18, 2008 by Mr March
crasis Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Beautiful scans, Graham. Thanks! Is it April yet?
RichterX Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Beautiful scans, Graham. Thanks! Is it April yet? For me it is cause i live in the future! is there a full version of Don't be late already? Any news on music CD coming out or it will be done later as the series progresses?
GGemini Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Guys, I was trying to download the Don't be late mp3: I found link to a 7 MB file that is NOT available anymore , and I found a 5 MB rar file that has a rip of the track in episode 1.. so, no luck. BUT... I stumbled upon these images / wallpapers. Sorry if I don't give due credit because the name of the person who posted these was in Japanese. Looks like they're official wallpapers from MBS...
Kamion Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Can someone update the first post with FAQ info like 1) when the next episode is going to be released? 2) how many episodes will there be? 3) will it be broadcast weekly once it's "launched", or 4) will it be like Macross Zero and have one episode released every few months? Cheers, Kamion
Zinjo Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Here's some larger scans of the 4 page Macross Frontier article from the February 2008 issue of Newtype magazine. Graham As usual, Graham comes through with the ultra res scans... Thank you sir!

wrong Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Sherry Norme doesn't look 17 at all. If the offical website didn't say she was 17. i would say she is that yellow hair girl from M7 that trying and trying so hard to give flowers to basara.
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 (edited) She could even be a robot with holographic stuff on top of it for all we know. Or maybe even basara with a holographic girl image on top of him. You saw how good the costumes were in the DYRL "war documentary" movie when the actors looked almost identical to the real people. 1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 (edited) Well they had to let basara be the star at the time because the vf-19 fire valk was just more popular. Not a limit of the special fx crew but a money making reason to promote firebomber through product placement within the movie. (ie like the mention of "Ebay" so many times in the transformers movie) Everything is so comercialised in the future. Edited January 22, 2008 by 1/1 LowViz Lurker
