do not disturb Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 There's nothing to suggest that HLJ gets big discounts from Yamato. really? then how come you can open a wholesale account with them? they're one of the biggest toy distributors and buy in greater volume than any brick and mortar shop. more volume = costs less. But I'd like to know where you see it sold for $100. not someone i want to shop with but yes, toy-wave has them for $100. they might be $118 now but this was his post from april 28th.... http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=25905
Dangard Ace Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 It's $118 at Toy Wave (not including shipping from HK). I think the weak American dollar is more of the issue than HLJ's pricing. My pre-order email receipt says $100. Of course this was Apr. 24 so the price has gone up since then.
misterryno Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 My pre-order email receipt says $100. Of course this was Apr. 24 so the price has gone up since then. Guess I shoulda ordered through them in the first place. Eh........too late.......I went with LOS and he will hook it up.
bluemax151 Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I think the weak American dollar is more of the issue than HLJ's pricing. I remember when 1500 yen was less than $10 No offense to Yamato but besides waiting on a paint scheme I want I think I'll wait it out for a "debugged" release. Preordering is still extremely tempting though especially since it has all the TV/DYRL bits all in one. Time to exercise that self control (see: drinking)
Trazial Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 With all this buzz of the new 1/60's do you think Yamato is going to produce as many variations as it did with the 1/48's i.e. Angel Birds, Woodland, Low-viz color schemes? Besides the perfect transformation, how much does it differ from the current 1/60's? Does anyone know if this new 1/60 is compatible with the current 1/60 GBP armor? If this was answered already I apologize, i missed it.
Graham Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 It differs a lot from the 1/48: - Better articulation = more poseable. More tampo printing, including the UN Spacy kit on the nose and other markings. Better proportions in all three modes (IMO). No ugly seem running down middle of the face on the VF-1S. Nose cone doesn't hang past the kness like the 1/48. Missiles attach much more firmly to the wings. *Special gimmick..............to be revealed later*. Articulated hands proprtionally larger than on the 1/48. Hands hold gunpod much more securely. Tighter joints overall. improved foot thruster detail - no more split thruster detail like on 1/48. Special ********** on canopy Folding fins on legs, to more easly accomodate GBP. Locks together more solidly in all three modes, especially fighter mode. Nose cone and flaps fixed, so won't fall off like on the 1/48. It's not a scaled down 1/48, it's a complete redesign, improved in many ways and very playable and solid feeling. Not sure if it will fit the old 1/60 GBP. I threw mine away in disgust, so don't have a set to test. Not sure on what variation colors Yamato will release yet. Graham
VFTF1 Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 *Special gimmick..............to be revealed later*. Ok...time to play guessing game!! The gimmick is that you can fold out the repair-robot-arm that was used in SFM TV episode 2? Or better yet that when you open the head the chair slids out? Or better still - press a button and the figure plays "Kyun Kyun! Kyun! Kyun!" On that note - I was actually JUST about to write how happy I was the Yamato stuff doesn't have gimmicks But I guess it depends on what we mean by gimmick? VFTF1
TCracker Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I bet it is gonna be something awesome. In Graham we trust! (not that I will be getting the new 1/60s. nope...no siree...oh maybe just a 1S, maybe a 1J....awww hell)
misterryno Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 This all sounds VERY good to me. I am soooooooo happy G-Man. THANKS for the info!!!
Kyp Durron Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 (edited) Not sure on what variation colors Yamato will release yet. Graham They'd damn well better release them all since they've touted the fact that it's been designed to incorporate two-seater variants. It sounds like the value of the original 1/60 line really will be going down the toilet with all the improvements Graham mentioned. Makes me sooo glad I never bothered to invest in them. -Kyp Edited May 13, 2008 by Kyp Durron
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 Holy hell they tampo printed the kite! BAD ASS! Very excited for this one.
Chet Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I'm guessing the new gimmick is a detachable cockpit module that can be attached to the arm of a 1/60 battroid.
misterryno Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I'm guessing the new gimmick is a detachable cockpit module that can be attached to the arm of a 1/60 battroid. OOOoooooo good guess. It may just be.
Toonz Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 my guess... head guns and fast pack are able to shoot out bullets special light effects on canopy press a button and the whole damn thing transforms by itself (fat hope ) light up visor (opps! duck from flying stones)
nightmareB4macross Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 It differs a lot from the 1/48: - Better articulation = more poseable. Nice. More tampo printing, including the UN Spacy kit on the nose and other markings. Nice. Better proportions in all three modes (IMO). Two out three isn't bad. Not too fond on the battroid. No ugly seem running down middle of the face on the VF-1S. Nice. Nose cone doesn't hang past the kness like the 1/48. Nice. Missiles attach much more firmly to the wings. Cool. *Special gimmick..............to be revealed later*. HEAD WILL TILT FORWARD AND ALLOW SEAT TO SLIDE UPWARDS OR HEAD TELESCOPES UP AND DOWN TO TUCK INTO THE FUSELAGE BETTER IN FIGHTER MODE. Articulated hands proprtionally larger than on the 1/48. Nice. Hands hold gunpod much more securely. Finally. Tighter joints overall. Cool. improved foot thruster detail - no more split thruster detail like on 1/48. Cool. Special ********** on canopy. HEADS UP DISPLAY (HUD) Folding fins on legs, to more easly accomodate GBP. Yay, for GBP, coming soon!! Locks together more solidly in all three modes, especially fighter mode. Nice. Nose cone and flaps fixed, so won't fall off like on the 1/48. Nice to have the same gimmicks as the 1/48. Graham. Thanks, Graham. Special gimmicks can be any number of things. But for now this is what I'm guessing.
VFTF1 Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I just hope that after Roy we go straight to Max and Milia VFTF1
miriya Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I just hope that after Roy we go straight to Max and Milia VFTF1 Nice! and then directly to VF-1D, VE-1 and VT1 and then Minmei Guard.
eugimon Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I think when Graham says the nose cone and flaps are "fixed" he means they're no longer detachable/movable and not that they stay on better.
misterryno Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I think when Graham says the nose cone and flaps are "fixed" he means they're no longer detachable/movable and not that they stay on better. I hope so.
Kyp Durron Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 The way things are going, this might come out before the YF-21 does... -Kyp
misterryno Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 The way things are going, this might come out before the YF-21 does... -Kyp You may be right.
eugimon Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 The way things are going, this might come out before the YF-21 does... -Kyp I should ask Kevin if he can ship them together to save some cash on shipping...
s001 Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 Yo know what would be very cool? Camera details behind the head's visor just like in the YF-19!!! BTW looking at the pictures I bet the VT-1 will be the best valk of this line.
Kyp Durron Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I should ask Kevin if he can ship them together to save some cash on shipping... Lmao...it's a thought, huh? -Kyp
Vegas Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 yamato should do a mass produced weathered version on this 1/60....now thats gonna be NICE
Crazy Canuck II Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 Hey Graham, I don't think this will qualify as a gimick so you may be able to answer this... Does the 1/60 VF-1 have ratcheted joints for the swing wings like the 1/48 or are they like the old 1/60 VF-1 and Mac Plus 1/60s where you have to align them symmetrically by eye?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 ratcheted joints Yes what about ratchets on the shoulder joints too? I LOVE RATCHETS!
UN_MARINE Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 super secret gimmick ? is it... -detachable cockpit? -landing hooks? -collapsible cockpit ladders? -articulated backpack nozzles? -extending toe? -bigger, better built-in side covers? -non-removable, movable intake covers ? -spinning fan blades? -pivoting front landing gear? -battroid chest/torso joint? -secure(er) heatshield? -better wing/hip clearance? -individual, detachable micro missiles? -minmay figure? was i even close?
jonwayne Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 It differs a lot from the 1/48: - *Special gimmick..............to be revealed later*. Graham Let me guess too. Auto-morphing, like those transformers movie toys. e.g. heat shield extend/retract automatically
Kyp Durron Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 No, the secret gimmick is that it will be released before the YF-21... -Kyp
Dobber Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 (edited) I'd love to have a VF-1 with accurate exhausts....ie the padles or bars instead of the standard circular exhaust. So far I don't think anyone has gotten that correct Yamato, Bandia, hasegawa ect... although the super possibles may have had them not sure though. Chris Edited May 14, 2008 by Dobber
