misterryno Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Hey all, I came across this on eBay and I've never seen a SD Veritech that had FP's before. Super Veritech Quote
Sumdumgai Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 It's a piece of crap. I have a set of FP-less ones. I really regret it. Do yourself a favor and go hunt down a joke machine. Quote
jenius Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 They're essentially the same as the toys I reviewed HERE. I'm gonna do a separate post later for all the special Morphers Toynami made (Chrome, Clear, Metallic, and Super) but really the only thing that changed were their appearance. Quote

Yes I read your reviews and thought well....the only thing I don't like is the way the attenna is slicked back or whatever you said it was.....otherwise I think I can deal with them then. Quote

I would spend the same on a JM that I spent on six of these I will get a joke machine when my time comes. I want one for sure. Quote
jenius Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 If you go the non-super route you can get all seven for easily less than $20 including shipping. Quote
eriku Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 These are OK for a few bucks, but they're not really that fun or that great looking. I thought Toynami's SD Alphas were much better toys. That said, these are still a notch better than the old SD 'Paro' valks. They do fare a little better overall when they've got fastpacks on. Quote

Yeah....I already have them coming.....I bought a lot of like 15 of them.....3 supers, 3 alphas, 2 metalics, 7 regular. Then went to amazon and ordered 2 sets of 3 supers. Thanks for letting me know though. Quote

big F Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 I have one and as others have said they are not that great. My Joke machine ones are light years better, and not just because they are still all MIB. Quote
misterryno Posted December 4, 2007 Author Posted December 4, 2007 Should have the NEW ones on Wed. The others will come next week probably. Quote
BoBe-Patt Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 eeewww!!! these are terrible! only ones I would buy are the vintage takatoku ones and leave those in the boxes just because they look better in the package. These don't look good in any mode at all. skinny legs, big torso. Even the Honke SD model kits look better and have more play value than these. But to each their own I guess... Quote
TheLoneWolf Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 (edited) I can't believe you're actually thinking about buying these. I wouldn't recommend them, even as a cheap impulse buy. It won't be long before you realize that these things are just cluttering up your desk/display stand, and if you try to sell them to get your money back don't be surprised if you can't find any buyers. Though, these may make good toys for an infants or as a chew toy for billy goats. edit: After thinking it over, the morphers aren't good toys for infants as the FP armor can detach and is small enough to be swallowed. They're just good chew toys for billy goats then. Edited December 4, 2007 by TheLoneWolf Quote
do not disturb Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 when i switch from cocaine to crack, i'll pick these up. WTE = worst toys ever Quote
jenius Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 WTE? Oh that sounds like a challenge to find one worse. If I had more motivation I think we should create a thread dedicated to the worst anime toys ever created. Quote

If I had more motivation I think we should create a thread dedicated to the worst anime toys ever created. i dunno about the worst toy ever, but i started a thread a while back in regards to the worst mode ever. totoro242 (i can't remember the exact handle) shut it down with an alpha that was stuck between all 3 modes...it was literally the worst robotech/macross toy i've ever have seen. I vaguely recall a thread about ugliest toys where Totoro posted pics of a hideous takatoku gold plated valk toy. I think I'm gonna have to do some thread hunting after work and find that and the pic you're talking about. Quote
misterryno Posted December 5, 2007 Author Posted December 5, 2007 Well guys, I do appreciate your opinions and all. But my decision was made and I will pass judgement on these guys come tomorrow. I'll let you all know if they are really the WTE or not. Quote
eriku Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 They are most definitely NOT the worst toy ever, that's just overly dramatic. If you go into these expecting a mildly amusing cheap plastic doo-dad then you shouldn't be too disappointed. They're cheap, they're plentiful, and you get what you pay for. I actually quite enjoyed the Super 1S I had until I scraped together enough to buy a Joke Machine. Consider it a "Starter Valk". Quote

Starter Valk....LMAO.....I like that.....No to tell the truth I am not expecting anything TOTALLY AWESOME...I am actually expecting to be like "meh...these are pretty cool little guys". But tomorrow I will see for myself what I say. Quote

I have the box of the Super SD's sittin here right now but I cannot open them until the wife goes to work so I may spend time with her. I will let you guys know though what I think. Quote

orguss01 Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 (edited) I soo got burned on ebay a couple years back when i bought this....I thought it was a carded JM..it was morpher.... I keep it as a reminder to ask ?'s and ask for pics when in doubt. Actually in fighter mode they are not THAT bad, kinda neat in an SD way. Low profile , sleeker than a JM, only wish the arms could stow away not just fold back. but like everyone says the battroid mode is hid-E-ous , They have the legs of those bodybuilders at my gym that only work chest and biceps. Twig bird legs. Gross. This thing is really deformed. Hope you got a good deal on these. Edited December 5, 2007 by orguss01 Quote

The only thing wrong with these guys so far is that they are sooooooo damn cute I like them. The one you bought Orguss looks like a KO or something. Mine are all in boxes like in the first post. I do wish the arms stored differently as well...but they push in enough that it is fine except for I cannot have the armor on the arms to turn them into fighter mode. But whatevs....it's all good. misterryno Posted December 6, 2007 Author Posted December 6, 2007 Well I got them all opened up and out for display. I can't wait for the others that I got in that auction (alphas and regulars) come. They will look good up there with everyone. I actually like them and think they're pretty cool. Quote
misterryno Posted December 6, 2007 Author Posted December 6, 2007 I even decided to panel line one of them. I think it makes it look even better. I will do all of them eventually. Quote
Sumdumgai Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 I forgot what the 1J battroid heads looked like on these. The headlasers are just like the way my cat puts his ears back when I mess with him and press them flat back! Quote

eriku Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 The panel lines look good on Miriya. Speaking of her, have you seen the metallic version that comes in a tin? I picked that up from Media Play several years ago, it was an exclusive to them and Sam Goody. The tin has some really great graphics all over it, even on the bottom and the inside of the lid. Quote

jenius Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 (edited) Just a little clarification. There are "metallic" morphers and there are "chrome" morphers. The one Eriku is refering to would be considered the "chrome" LE version. The "metallic" ones are the ones with a slightly different paint hue from the one you have that came with the DVD releases. Crap, you're making me wish I had the second part of my review up that went over all the variants. Oh well, hopefully in a couple weeks. Edited December 6, 2007 by jenius Quote
